Agreed. I bought one new from Benson about 4 years ago. At 30w, it pushes more like 50w and very, very loud. Dimed out without the attenuator and you get a mean, thick, syrupy fuzz. Back up off the volume on your guitar and it breaks up beautifully. Bring everything closer to noon on the head and it sparkles, maintaining a real cozy warmth. A real beauty of an amp. The Tele here sounds great too. Want a meatier sound? Grab a humbucker equipped guitar and hang on. I’m running my Chimera into a Gibson SGT Cab UK 2x10 open back top/ 2x12 closed back bottom w/ Celestion Golds. If you see a Benson Chimera in the wild for sale, grab it. They are absolutely going up in price due to high demand, superior craftsmanship, and timeless aesthetics. And, it’s a really cool logo. Cheers from Miami, Fl.
Pretty rad rig :) clik'd because of the name of the amp. Took my son to SF's Warfield in '07 (he was 15 then) to see a band he liked KSE. Bill was He Is Legend, Chimera, Dragon Force, and Kill Switch. man, after all that Chimera was the band I liked the most.
In my experience with the Monarch and the Chimera, it's character is very flexible depending on how it is set and played. I see it more as the meeting point between a 50's Fender Deluxe and a Vox AC30. It can be very articulate and a little jangly, but as it is pushed it becomes punchier and fuzzier.
@@bullet0657 One of my favorite players Dan Phelps plays one of these. Absolutely gorgeous tones. You can say a lot of it is in the hands and techniques, I have played one of these in person tho and they are great. Way better than a Fender, at least modern ones. Don't believe it? Well that is your take and go on and have that if you want. Does not change that these are amazing amps.
The attenuator is labeled incorrectly! That is a huge issue if used with the wrong amp and cab setup. RIP power amp. Not great QC from Bensen. Ill pass.
i gotta say....This is the Emperor's new clothes........all I hear is massive rude crude distortion. I bought a Benson pre-amp pedal today and yes, it creates this kind of sonic mess. I fell for the hype. But I know that metal heads etc. love this sort of thing. I was looking for some transparent overdrive. I like blues and jazz and Bach and Baroque, music in other words, and this equipment is designed for tastes buried deep in the ass. The pedal, that is supposed to emulate this amp, gives you a huge booming clean boost with a ton of bass, even when you dial the bass to zero , and then suddenly, your in the territory of this video., where the guitar sounds like a tyrannosaurus with throat cancer. i am miserably used to spending too much money on everything as the USA goes deeper into the toilet, but this is ridiculous. Get something from Greer or Origin effects, not this harsh ugly unmusical stuff. Benson sucks.
So many words, obviously you love Benson and you are shirking us away so we all become Dino’s on “another watch” All you poetic gearheads are the same. Point us away from what you love. Like the Garfield cartoon where the cat cuts a piece of pie and then throws the rest of the cake in your mouth! Leaving the little Origin or Greer piece for us! Since seeing your comment, I’m definitely getting a Benson now! Thanks buddy! In the words of Gurdjieff “bewilderment is a higher state than knowledge” anyway….

Oof good god damn that sounds smooth. So smooth. That's the best word I can find for it.
i also love your playing, on of my favorite players from this channel
5:23 sounds perfect
Lefty?? Let’s go!
such beautiful playing
$3295? Think of all the Kraft Dinner I could buy my family with that money right now.
Your grandchildren would never want for mac 'n' cheese...
Then they get cheese for tone…🤣🤣
Are the 8 ohm speakers connected in series? that would yield a total impedance of 16 ohms and you said the attenuator was 16 ohms….
Pretty sick
🤘👍🏿

Supro meets Marshall Major?!? What are you even talking about?
It sounds like a supro style amp with a bit of British gain, it’s not that hard to assume.?

Yes that's a unique tone the Deluxe of Doom LoL 😂 or Deluxe on steroids Hmmmm not bad but I would have rolled the bass down
that’s a killer hat my dude
This is a good tone?
Are you a real musician?
Yes.
@@gmyersgilmer9470 sounds like a cheap fender
