Loading Kubota Excavator into 14' PJ Dump Trailer for the First time

- This was the first time I loaded the Kubota Kx040-4 into my 14' PJ dump trailer. I made many mistakes in this video and learned a lot from my first time.
Tilt the trailer level with the ramps then add your blocks. Wireless remote for the dump helps

U need rear stands, if u was park on a hill ,your trk would have lift up and start rolling which is dangerous. It does u when ur loading machines.
You need some kind of jackstands for the trailer so it doesn’t lift up the back of your truck. That is dangerous.
Gonna wanna use those rear jacks in the future. If you had been on a hill the truck might have started freewheeling and that's no fun.

I added jacks to the back of my 14’ dump. Had the same issue lifting off the ground and because of that didn’t utilize the trailer as much as I could have at first.
Yea it certainly made moving the machine interesting in the beginning. After this first time I went and got 2x 6 ton jack stands. I throw under the back of the trailer with a inch of play and that works pretty well. When loading and the weight is on the on jacks preventing removing them I just drive forward off the jacks.
I've had my truck off the ground more than once, always use chocks. its a learning curve
it really is learning curve. Now that I've loaded it prob 60 times, in all kinds of sketchy scenarios I got my little system down and its pretty smooth. Still want to get a GN flat deck with hydro tail hehe
Invest in some chains, that strap is already torn. I see that your on some mats and that's a good idea.
Do NOT stop when your truck picks up off the ground keep going .
Raise your bed up level with the ramps so there is a straight line from end of ramps to front of trailer.. Set your parking brake and chock your wheels.
Aloha Tommy, yea we had that idea this first time to do that and it was really unstable feeling and the dump cylinder did not like being lowered with all that weight. We’ve loaded hundreds of times since and got it down real smooth these days just using tires as a “shock” absorber as you come over the apex from ramp to deck. I’ll have to make an updated video of how I’ve been loading these days. Thanks for watching🤙🏻
That scary feeling going over the tipping point. Ive only loaded on trailers with knee ramps. Like u said you can do jacks. Also you might be able to raise the dump a little but to help with the steep angle.
Hey Cody, yea we tried lifting the dump initially but that seemed like it was too much on the trailer and box, risking torquing the box. Now we've loaded it prob close to hundred times and what we're doing these days is using tires as a cusion when coming over the apex wether its going up and into the box or falling down on the ramps. As well as 6ton jack stands under the rear of the trailer to prevent lifting the truck

The truck wheels need to chocked, the dump trailer box needs to be chained down. I have a Bobcat E35 and I load and unload it from my 14 Ft. Dump trailer, but it has to be done safely. The dump trailer needs rear jacks to catch the weight. Make sure the weight of the excavator is over the rear axles. It works, but have to do it with all these steps. Your truck could have rolled down the road because the drive wheel was off the ground. Very lucky good luck and be safe.
Take a piece of wood and wedge it between the seat and brake pedal!! Thats my favorite!

Just did it first time today. It's pretty damn sketchy! Flat bed trailer all the way.
Front came up 2 reasons. In front of box there should be a chain to hold box to frame other reason is you should of raised dump then lower once up
press the bucket in center of trailer to lift front tracks and pull and roll up into trailer, may not even need ramps
Aloha Stretch 🤙🏻 thanks for watching....ya we got the ramp loading down real smooth after a couple hundred times doing it now. The no ramp load has been on my mind. I’d really like to perfect that and stop screwing with those ramps. Just concerned how it will be much harder on my trailer. I’d like to get a flat deck machine hauler soon. Then I can do the ol side load too 😏
That’s normal for the truck be lifted if you don’t have Jack’s at the rear of your trailer. When it does that don’t stop just keep moving forward.
I am researching dump trailers and after watching this video I think I would like one that the side opens also
To prevent damage to the parking Pawl on your trany , put your trany in Neutral , and SET your Emergency brake ! This way , you're pushing against your rear brakes INSTEAD of the parking pawl in your trany !
How does that f250 tow that setup?
Wow, so this actually fits?!?! I am trying to narrow down what type of trailer I'd need in order to move my new-to-me kx040. I was surprised that it fits this nicely inside a 14ft dump trailer. Mine also has the 6-way blade (best thing ever), but no cab and rubber tracks, so probably weighs 500 pounds less than yours. I did not realize that I'd be unable to turn around though, because it would be hitting the sides. Any advice on loading this in a dump trailer vs using an 18 footer equipment trailer?
I'm able to swing the cab and clearing the side of the trailer by lowering the blade so I clear. Works on my EX35
Regular flatbed equipment trailers will always be better at hauling equipment. The only reason you would use a dump trailer is to basically have a 2 in one deal going on. Which is always nice if you dont have a dump truck.
"That's scary"... what's more scary, is that you guys don't really know what you're doing and getting on the road not being confident in what you do.. tie down with chains and like it should be.. those straps will get cut or just rip off in extreme situations.
I see many mistakes here wrong way to load, straps are for cars not heavy equipment and that f250 it’s kinda pushing it.
lol yes I know hence the "first time" part of the title. that's kinda why I posted the video. I've greatly improved things since and continuing to learn more everyday. Thankfully here in Hawaii its mostly low speeds but we do have some serious hills. As for the 250, well she's a 7.3 and has no problems🤙
