Does the skin of black people turn white?
And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites.
      - 3 Nephi 2:15
And then shall they rejoice; for they shall know that it is a blessing unto them from the hand of God; and their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a white and a delightsome people.
      - 2 Nephi 30:6

@@fayelewis5476 no, that is metephorical and an example of ancient prejudice. No matter if those words were interpretated as literal by some leaders, its important to understand the the use of grand metaphor by ancient peoples to castigate their enemies. Its all over antiquity.
On the other hand, let's say Joseph Smith is a fraud and wrote the book himself. Wouldnt those words prove he is a racist? Except that he wasnt. He wanted slavery to end. He gave blacks the priesthood while he was alive. He also was greatly despised in Missouri because they were preaching to slaves and it caused them much trouble.

@@fayelewis5476 Look at it this way.
We know that the BOM story shows the dark skin people being Gods chosen at times, and the lighter skinned people Gods chosen at times. This was in relation to their committment to God. Not skin color.
If one culture overtakes another, in one sense, they literally begin to mingle and intermarry. When that happens, the offspring will eventually take on the phenotypes of both. Thats possibly what happened. The rightous people at the time were light skinned nephites, and the lamanites that converted began to intermarry and the children took on new phenotypes.

It wasn't a racist past....it was their Godly belief... supposedly what they believed was due to a teaching directly from God.....very unlikely though.....God doesn't make mistakes..much less teach racism being that the creator of the whole world... created all tounges and races etc etc....

Too bad Heavely Father wouldn’t allow them to have the priesthood until the 70s. At least God changed his mind when he saw that society was moving past racism on its own though, right? That’s how you know you have the one true restored church- When God is humble enough to admit he allowed his last remaining prophets to screw it up in the first place. Oh wait….
