Thank you so much for this video, i ordered two Kodak x200 256 gb SSD's today at Ali Express. I'm very curious about them! Hopefully they will perform well!
Thanks. They are just fun to try out and something I wanted to test. They are not the best but just brought back some good memories for sure. Thanks for watching.
The enclosure reduces the transfert speed, even the best ones. To test the real transfert speed you should install the SSD inside a computer directly with SATA-III interface.
Great seeing Kodak SSD units highlighted. When it comes to camera equipment, I only buy Kodak products and my current camera is a Kodak PIXPRO AZ-652 model (smile...smile).
@@craigneidel Thank you, for your reply to my post. I agree that the 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's, were a simpler time when, you had to take your photographs to the drug store and then come back another day to pick them up. Also, you were not able to record any movies or shows from your home TV until, the day your family owned a VCR. However better times, well this kind of depends on your social economic level if your were wealthy, middle class, or poor (smile...smile).
The propritery connection on the enclosure is a microusb 3 connection. They are not that common, but they are a standard. I've seen 2.5" external drives from the likes of seagate, maxtor and WD with them
I just bought two Kodak SSDs X120 (1TB) at USD25~ (usually around $30++).. and tested on Arch Linux - both disks have around 400MB+-/s disk access.. I think they're legitimate disks.. but as you mentioned.. I don't even know who owns Kodak these days! :) Their NVME disks aren't that cheap though. I bought other brands like Fanxiang which has better pricing
Thanks for sharing. Yes, they appear to be real SSDS and so far have worked great for me. I can't recommend them as I don't have long-term research but they are a fun product for sure.
@craigneidel thank you. But my question is that did you use mac m1 or m2 formatting the ssd. Does or equipped with m1 or m2 arm64 chip while creating this video? Thank you
Did you try to fill the drive to the max? There are fake flash drives out there that has been hacked to show 2tb space, but its actually 32gb.. It overwrites automatically when it reaches maximum capacity, and files end up unreadable and unusable.
Hey do more Temu stuff just stay true to yourself. Even if they reach out to you. Temu is the hottest thing going right now. Cheaper than Ali and Amazon even wish. I’d like to see you open it, from what I’ve read these are Kodak knock offs. But everyone do your research
It's REALLY sad that Kodak licenses it's name and logos to other companies. A company with an Excellent history and Proud reputation now has to resort to this to make money. I hope they won't being doing commercials for crappy products on TV next.
Nobody is using film any longer so they need to adjust. I like them too but in the end they weren't ready for the digital era and that was where it was all going. Although, the drives are actually not bad and most SSDs are made by the same companies when I looked into it.
@@craigneidelI saw their X200 Series external drives and if they're close to the specs posted they're not bad drives either. I'm debating with myself whether to grab one. Thanks for the heads up,
Does it really matter who "OWNS" them, as long as they are very good? Why obsession with designer names? I switched from Amazon to Temu and it is the best switch ever. You just need to convince yourself why you should stick with brand name when they are ALL made in China. Did it occur to you that Apple is simply disguising under one of the Chinese brands?? Many thanks for the review. I got one for 256GB and it is amazingly light and fast. Still not sure what the yellow rubber band is for!
Yes some of the off brands can be good for sue. I like tech in general. I won't get all tech from Temu for obvious reasons but it's fun to try some new things out every now and then etc. Thanks for watching.
I don't know why this is in my feed but putting an SSD in to an external enclosure is not a new idea - that's what they're designed for. But do you really want to trust your data to a "Kodak" SSD? It's just a brand name licensed to some ultra cheap generic Chinese manufacturer. If you care about your data but want to save money, use an SSD from a reputable brand.
There is always somebody... I said in the video and said it's just for fun to see what we can buy and try it out. It was a fun video not something serious and I said that many times. But, the Kodak SSDs work pretty good and have a bunch of great reviews so I'm guessing they are as good as about the average for sure.
Oh boooo hooo!!! Muh precious data!!! Guess what, moron, nobody CARES about your data you're not fucking James Bond you just have porn on your computer. No one wants to see your data, you have nothing of interest. Buy whatever you want because regardless of what you use your files are always at risk of being jeopardised, you literally only are sceptical because it's not from a name brand and it isn't as expensive as every other slop item
It's just a fun video. I got a few cheap things on temu like 5 dollar Bluetooth Lenovo headphones and they work great. All small stuff I got works fine. I'm not affiliated and always get what works for you but for small fun cheap things no issues at all so far with temu.

Yes I know that but I have been doing videos on the enclosures and ssds recently. This was just a fun temu video. Thanks for watching.
I also bought two 240gb metal cased yellow ones for my plex servers, just to scratch that nostalgia itch.
Yes I think I just like the 80s and 90s too.
"Channel raking in 0" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you for this! I just got myself the exact SSD with the intent to make it a backup drive. Super helpful!
Thanks and good luck.
Have you had any issues with your drive Tessa?
Thank you! Surprised that Kodak is still around.
Yeah me too so figured it would be a fun video. Thanks
They are but they don't make SSDs. They make money on the side by licensing their brand.
@@mikelovesbacon thanks. I just noticed that they mentioned the same on the SSD disk's box.. but with a very tiny font :D

Hi,
Did you format the SSD using Arm64 chip I.e., Mac M1, M2 Pro
Apfs
@craigneidel thank you.
But my question is that did you use mac m1 or m2 formatting the ssd.
Does or equipped with m1 or m2 arm64 chip while creating this video?
Thank you
Yes, I used the M1 for this.
This was a fun video. I like cheap portable storage.
I had to make it once I found Kodak ssds
do you really need an enclosure box or can you just sit the ssd drive right next to the pc like regular ???
Yes it's just standard SSD.
I was wondering if I can put it in my laptop and it would work well
It should but there are a ton of cheap options now and any 2.5" SSD should work if your laptop takes 2.5".
Did you try to fill the drive to the max? There are fake flash drives out there that has been hacked to show 2tb space, but its actually 32gb.. It overwrites automatically when it reaches maximum capacity, and files end up unreadable and unusable.
These are real which surprised me but I have seen those drives on Linus tech tips .
The 128gb ssd’s are typically slower than the 256gb and larger. Im gonna order. 512 kodak today. Great video
It was a fun video to make since I never heard of Kodak making a drive like this.
As always Craig Neidel Thanks Much !
Thanks again!
Can I play modr
games on this internal storage?
Not sure what those are but you can play games.
X120 have 3d nand ?
Don't think so. Just very basic drive
Can I play games on this internal storage?
I don't see why not.
