I would encourage everyone who digs this to watch the concert in its entirety. The band's music behind Jim's spoken word is incredible to say the least.
Yes I have seen it and I must say I agree to the max. Jim is really something different. Always was and always will be the most different of ANY band ever imo.
nhra fast At least you still got to grow up in a generation with actual good music. There's very few artists from my generation that are good. But I don't see any of them on legendary status like Jim was...
Two of my brother and I had the pleasure of seeing them live, in '68. Great show. My oldest brother is a musician and had the honor of jamming with Ray!!
..JIm doesn't even blink when the firecrackers go off...and this performance is a perfect example of Things You Cannot Do Any More On Stage. Jim gives his keyboard and guitar players all the time and room they want/need to solo, while he grooves/hangs out on stage/smoke a cigarette(bums a match)/plays maracas and just when he needs to, when The Moment is really right, he does a twirling jump and brings in the finale...masterwork. At 6:00 the air for the guitar solo gets played, but it isn't until 6:06 that a drum backing falls behind it to propel it into its ecstasy. I dare ANY modern rock and roll group to get up on a stage and be this loose...and this tight...and this good.
@@lalligatti9979 Yeah, that bullshit human jukebox stuff. I once read an interview of Rush's manager who said that Neal Peart had to play the drum line in their songs precisely because he "didn't want to disappoint the air drummers in the audience". For real. "Air drummers", those talent-free jerks who thrash around like they think you can when you actually play the drums. Pathetic.
This tantric noir plays out in front of stoned kids with sparklers, some of them with girlfriends who are only there because "Hello I Love You" was nice. Morrison gives a nuanced performance of opaque but passionately rendered poetry over caveman jazz. And when it climaxes and some poor lysergic kid in the audience starts crying, the snare shot comes like Highway 61, and the audience feels the release, the reward for listening, and the band proceeds to play a solid rendition of their most celebrated song. There is no major pop act today practicing this type of artful, natural madness.
This is a masterpiece...The keyboard , drums, and guitar is what possessed the Shaman...Jim was a shape shifter and traveled from one she to another..Jim was the PERFECT man.. Looks, brains, wit, craziness and daring, talented, intelligent.Jim was a Greek god..And a renaissance man..a poet..His energy is still strong seeing mere footage.,Jim was the connection of the cosmos.
WOW. WHAT A MARVELOUSLY INTREIGING INTERPRETATION OF THE LATE J.M.EACH CONCERT I CAUGHT REINFORCES YOUR WORDS, THOUGH I NEVER QUITE PUT THEM TOGETHER LIKE U DID. HIS "FATAL FLAW" LED TO HIS DEMISE. BREIFLY, I EMULATED HIM, SPIRALED DOWNWARD, THEN PULLED MYSELF UP & OUTWARD BY MY "BOOT HEELS". LUCKY ME.STILL "JAM " ALONG TO "THE DOORS" MUSIC.
I was about 12-13 when the Doors hit the scene and immediately bought every LP as they came out (vinyl-look it up) much to my dad's dismay. Back then certain songs made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and I still get that today. Somehow this music transcended 1966 and still sounds like nothing before or since. Don't believe me?... Look up some of the other chart toppers that year...Association, Monkees, Turtles, Buckinghams, Tommy James. Even the Beatles hit that year was All You Need Is Love...not one of their most pioneering songs. JM-one of a kind. Ray Manzarek played the keyboard melodies with his right hand and the bass line with his left (they had no bass player). John Densmore possibly the most underrated rock drummer of all time with his jazz fills and smallish jazz type drum kit. Robbie Krieger not the most dazzling player (I think he auditioned at 18 yrs old) and managed to work a blues based slide guitar into many of their songs. My 22 yr old daughter has When The Music's Over, among other Doors hits, on her play list. I say LONG LIVE THE DOORS!!!
Actually Vinyl has been back for quite awhile in a big way. Most stores have bigger sections of vinyl right now than anything else, If anything a kid would need to look up what a CD is at this point, lol.
Unfortunately I never got to see them, but I remember exactly where I was when they announced Jim Morrison had died. The band is so frickin tight, it always blows me away. The most underrated musicians period. Sixties and seventies is my music. I feel for the current generation.
Well this is a turn up for the books. I had no idea this show was filmed. I used to have the set on tape. I couldn't believe it when they just jumped straight from "Wake up!" to "Light My Fire". Genius.
En mi humilde opinion Solo escuchar completamente esta belisima cancion, como las otras mas..... me hacen cuestionar si no es The Doors la mejor banda de esa epoca, x encima de the rolling stones y the beatles.
CERTAINLY THE DOORS WERE IN THE TOP "5" LIVE CONCERT BANDS & I CAUGHT THEM 3X'S. 1X t SINGER BOWL, FLUSHING, QUEENS( A RIOT BROKE OUT AT "THE END" OF THE SHOW; 2 SHOWS SAME NITE AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN'S WINTER GARDEN; 1X AT LONG ISLAND U.(C.W.POST, BROOKVILLE, LONG ISLAND(AFTER JIM WAS GONE)+ "BADFINGER", "THE MUSIC'S OVER" FOR THESE RARE, GIFTED, UNIQUE MUSICIANS. THEY LIVE ON IN VIDEO & DVD & CD & L.P.(HAVE THEM ALL?

If I'm being honest the rolling stones are one of the worst bands I've ever seen perform live , there concerts are boring af . The doors put there performances to shame , Jim got such a great voice and one charismatic dude 💯 RIP Jim , simply a legend
One of the best performances of The Doors out there. At 08:31 to 8:54, that was the most random and out of left field moment in the performance. Is Jim twerking for the cameras and audience? Bet the ladies in the crowd liked that. XD

One of the things that I really like about The Doors is that Jim and Ray sing as if they’re men- good deep voices, not like the men (?) of today with their balls up around their throats and their strained high pitched warblings - Bieber etc😂
sydeone Yes. Bit very minimal. Some of these shots are actually from other points in the show, especially those of John and a couple of the wide shots taken from front of house.
and why Jim was playing the maraca if nobody would be able to hear it? hahahahahahaha!!!! unless the maraca had some mechanism that make it sound louder LOL
R.I.P Ray. You Broke on Through to the Other Side and now you and Morrison are playing the great Gig in the sky.
MJSpiritual great reference and great song
great cross over 😤👌👌

Yes I have seen it and I must say I agree to the max. Jim is really something different. Always was and always will be the most different of ANY band ever imo.
The part where he screams "WAKE UP!" .... I use that as my alarm on my phone to get up every morning at Stupid O' Clock..Thanks Jim.
Jamie Cross LITERALLY SAME HERE HOLY SHIT
Wish I was alive back then to see them :( all time favorite band hands down. RIP Jim and Ray! Your music will live on forever!

You're right, but the only one came to mi mind would Rush. They also play a great music. I would love to live on that generation with identity.

I saw them in 67 at the Cheetah Club, Venice Beach.....I was on a hit of Blue Cheer acid and they blew my mind.
Freshman in high school... saw them at Winterland in 1970....

I think that jamming on stage is forbidden today. You must learn and play every single detail in a "professional way" and stuff like that...

Doesn't bother Jim or any of them that the audience is throwing fire at them! I love it! They are so damn cool.
True, just like the Stones continued their concert at Altamont after a fan was stabbed to death.
