The concert was great. The DVD and album from it are both great. It was July 5, 1968, so there were plenty of actual fireworks from the audience. There are album covers and posters of Jim with a sparkler. Those are from that performance. Landmark event.
Man, I never got to experience them when they were together. Wasn’t even born until ten years after Morrison died. Discovered them when I was twelve. My generation really loved this group. And 60s - 70s music overall. I’m convinced 1990s teenagers kept this bands legacy alive.
It’s “alive, she cried” : she was alive crying waiting for him outside ( on the other side of the doors ) he was dead with the “feast of friends” as he sometimes referred to the afterlife.
All of these guys were totally badass and at the top of their game. However, Ray took it one step higher. You are not alone. My son has said the same thing. This is my daughter-in-law’s fave band. Born in the wrong era. The Doors often take the listener on a journey when performing. Most of the music of the 60’s was positive and uplifting, about peace and love. Doors music was different….more poetic and introspective. Different from the dark music of today, which sounds more like, “I’m unhappy and I can’t cope! Poor me!” Doors music seemed to encourage deeper thought and the realities of life. Just my opinion. @@user-pz4um9hi1j The End was recorded in 66 and released in January of 67. Silver Apples first release was June 68. Doors played the bowl in July of 68.
listen to Tomorrow never knows
White shoes
I disagree, look to krautrock bands like Can and Kraftwerk for their use of samples in the early 70's. Ray definitely had a big influence but he did not invent the style, I'd give Zappa more credit than Ray tbh and the Silver Apples.
I've been a Doors fan since their first album Jan 67.
They are so hypnotic.
in the best way
The Doors were just magic.
They were so ahead of their time!!! One of the greatest rock bands of all time!!!!!
Ray’s keyboard, Jim’s vocals, Densmor’s drums and Robbie’s guitar cords are just beautiful to the ear.
Jim was a legend. That scream/howl just portrayed his character
Unfortunately they don't make rock bands like this anymore. A band of the time but also timeless. RIP Jim and Ray ❤
No not the greatest but one of the greatest that ever kissed a microphone. What a great era in music, it’s a great pity that he left so early. Is it amazing there music still sounds great to this day. In a way they’ll always be around, he was put here on earth for just that reason and at that particular time. Your comments are all great.
I would love to go back in time and see this concert in person.
The Doors music is Timeless.
Jim Morrison was definitely very unique, great singer, his vocals were off the chart. He was absolutely gorgeous, very different. His songs were very memorable, but he really didn't get the recognition he deserved. I think all his told a story from his perspective and alot of people really didn't understand what he was really trying to say, I know he knew what he was trying to convey, but alot of people didn't really get it. I think he was way before his time. His songwriting was what he really believed in, he was quite the character! I love his style and his unbelievable voice. I think there will never be another Jim Morrison, never. He was truly one of a kind!! RIP JIM MORRISON. YOU WERE TRULY SPECIAL. ONE OF A KIND FOR ALL TIME! THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE YOU IN THIS LIFETIME!! YOU WERE TRULY A STAR!!
I think all his music told a story
ROCK ON CARLA!!! M.O'B
His voice is out of this world.
I'm 22. Grew up with my dad listening to The Doors. It haschanged my life for the better. Go to Père Lachaise once a while to thank what once was the best singer and poet i've ever heard.
Without The Doors, i'd be NOTHING.
Jim Morrison was a legendary talented singer with a ton of charisma. He died too early, just imagine how many more incredible performances he could have had. Not to mention amazing new songs. Rest in peace Jim you were amazing.💕
Ray's long, hypnotic organ intro followed by John's drum explosion!
Wow! Like Jim, this performance will never get old. I was at the Hollywood Bowl for this performance. Unforgettable. Jim was like a human Tesla coil on stage. A band for The Ages.
Wow, I can’t even imagine
Man tell us more lol. How was the mood of the crowd and everything, must've of been beautiful
@@RylanInChains Alright, early in the show, after all lights pointed stageward, and the audience was in the dark, a small entourage walked in between the stage and the front row. My seats were about 10 rows back, same side. (Oops, hear me curse as I dropped my camera lens while putting it on the camera). Definitely Mick Jagger, and (I think) Marianne Faithful. Cool. Big hats. The concert was great. The DVD and album from it are both great. It was July 5, 1968, so there were plenty of actual fireworks from the audience. There are album covers and posters of Jim with a sparkler. Those are from that performance. Landmark event.
You were lucky !
Man, I never got to experience them when they were together. Wasn’t even born until ten years after Morrison died. Discovered them when I was twelve. My generation really loved this group. And 60s - 70s music overall. I’m convinced 1990s teenagers kept this bands legacy alive.
the face in the mirror won't stop
the girl in the window won't drop
a feast of friends
"alive!" she cried
waiting for me OUUUTTSIIIDEEE
love this
forgot to loudpaint the drums... the face in the mirror won't stop BA BA I live for this stuff
It’s “alive, she cried” : she was alive crying waiting for him outside ( on the other side of the doors ) he was dead with the “feast of friends” as he sometimes referred to the afterlife.
All of these guys were totally badass and at the top of their game. However, Ray took it one step higher. Playing the bass parts on a keyboard like a bass player and yet still doing all the organ riffs in another time and and different melodies. Plus the left foot never stopped keeping the basic time. I am so thankful I grew up in such an amazing time for music , late 60's and early 70's. Nothing these days compares. The Doors were and will be, one of my absolute favorite bands of all time. Almost no other music takes me back to that time so completely either.
Really unbelievable good.
Very true about ray I think Jim's untimely death left this band very underrated GENIUS! each of them ,however, Jim is a once in a lifetime performer so gifted and tragically so tortured💔
I was born before my time. I should've been born in the late 50s. I'm 45
@@rgmeadejr5385 Yah I definitely know what you mean. I would've loved to see them live putting it mildly. Older than you and 10 when we lost 💔Jim. You are either consumed with every ounce of your being by the doors or not a fan, there's no in between.
@@lisaryan6505 I know right. My name is Christopher fleenor. I just can't get into my account so I'm using my ex brother in laws account. I love to throw in my 2 cents though. Lol. Where are you from. I'm in Kingsport TN
Am 48 years old and I say always that Jim Morrison is very big legend forever
Best looking Rock God❤
There will never be another band like the Doors.
Rebelstardust These guys walk on water,,,ive been in love with them since their beginning ,, thats a long time to be in love lol kind regards from South yorkshire England xx
Whew!
yep they're totally unique
Man the 60s were WILDDD!!! WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE🙆✨✌️
lol this thought comes into my head so many times... like the 60s were so wild and so electric unforgettable decade and never be another
The greatest American rock band. Hands down!!🙏♥️🎼.
thats a joint first Doors & the Velvet underground , bet hey we agree , stay safe peace x

Thanks! All good choices
Eagles Aerosmith Van Halen journey ccr ?
@@jacob45415
Van who??!!😂…give me a break. Journey?😂😂. Eagles we’re excellent but not as powerful.x
we weren't born at that legendary age, but our job now is to not let this music die!!
Why would it die? What are we looking out for. Asking for a friend that is worried lol
Probably the first “ SUPER GROUP “!! All four of them were so talented! Great music!
4:30 the way Jim watches Robby rip into the solo. Jim was on another plane in that moment. He was so fascinating to watch.
Rumor has it that he was pretty much out of it. I read somewhere that he took LSD before the show then drank whiskey to tone it down right before getting on stage... now I know for a fact LSD highs don't give up so quickly, so my guess is... he was enjoying himself a lot 😂
@@alexandredufresne7464 if you think jim was on another plane , robby was one plane further :)
Acid will do that for/to you.
I agree. And Adam was here twice.
@@alexandredufresne7464 jim was high pretty much most of his adult life, i bet it would be harder to find a concert where he wasnt way out of it...
The Doors put me in a mood that no other band can put me in. Total bliss❤️❤️❤️❤️
You guys understand this man is holding down the bass line AND feeding us the gravy straight out the boat?!
I was there!!! 18 years old. L.A. was Glorious in those years!!!
I'm gonna be 57 on November 14th. Jim Morrison and the Doors were playing around the house since I was born. My Uncle Leo the hippie musician was really in to them. My father died when I was 13. Jim got me through that. Period.
That 2nd scream after he says "now" blows me away! Absolutely incredible 😍
In these difficult times, music like the doors is my go to for the release of escapism.
Wow. I could not have said it better.
I was there on shore leave from the USN. My very best day in the Navy.
I was working in Paris in 1995 I decided to visit Morrison's grave at Père Lachaise Cemetery. It was early Sunday morning. I found his grave. Wow. There were about half-dozen young people there with candles who obviously had been there all night vigil. That moved me. I just stood there and looked. Didn't say a word and left.
Peace Love Freedom Music❤❤❤❤
La mejor cancion de the Doors para mi gusto.. Una obra de arte.
This performance is mind blowing. Damn Ray was a killer!
The Best American Band Ever
Long live the Doors
9:15 😆
Always loved this.. Jim's burp to the audience anticipation to hear the "WE WANT THE WORLD.." line.
Perfect 👌🏻
Jimmy’s soul is different from any other artist , sheer brilliancy 🖤🙏💫
Adonis
Jimbo would've changed the music scene if he stayed alive
🙏💜🌹Jim Morrison 🥰
It doesn't matter how many times I hear this song (like so many other Doors songs) I still get chills !
Jim had some of the most mezmorizing performances of any musician. It's always fun just to watch him do his thing.
Best band of the '60s!
Jim was a musician& poet! All rolled into one! What other singer can say that!? None! A true shaman!
The music is your only friend !!!
Been listening since I was 14 yrs old
Appreciate them as much, if not more, now at 68*
Keep the Music Com
I can’t even say how beautiful this video is.
John Densmore is the most under appreciated drummer from the 60’s. Everyone thinks Bonham, Mitchell and Ginger Baker… but never saw them play such exact jazz beats like him. Mike Schrieve from Santana might be up there, but Densmore is definitely my personal favorite.
I would say..one of the greatest...but hands down most patient drummers of all time..my God setting and reacting to the most eccentric front man of all time..what an honorable and challenging task..kudos Densmore!! One of the greats of all time!!
He just never collaborated with Jimbo
The Doors are an incredibly special band. For me I always loved the doors. The people who don’t understand it still give it it’s due respect. One day they will hear something from one song and without knowing why, they suddenly get it. Once you get that one thing you’ll get it all. It’s a gift.
💯💯💯💯💯
I always feel johns drumming goes under the radar when people talk about the doors, the man is a drumming god!
Its gotta be the most artistic drumming I've ever seen, dudes painting a picture.
100% agree...John Densmore was a huge component of what made the Doors' sound so unique...that splash of jazz-rock fusion is just a masterstroke on every song
Jim was a rocket and wanted to burn high. Ray understood expiremental rockets sometimes explode. Sad but true. History is pushing boundaries, opening Doors. Thank you for timeless Americana Music that pushes all sense to this day! Celebrate the Lizard King 🤴
As one Door closes, Jim's Door opens wide..Mr Morrison I salute you.. God bless you R. I. P.
The doors were the number 1 band of the sixties best vocal best drums best guitarist best keyboards best lyrics they still hold up today the doors are eternal
Masterpiece. Jewel.genius.
So ahead of even the hippie culture at the time. Priceless !
I watched this concert every day after coming home from high school for at least a month I dug it so much.
The music is never over!!
amazing look at how Jim can mesmerize everyone!!! Would have loved to see the band live in action ugh I’m 20 and I have nostalgia for an era I never lived in lmao 😭 long live The Doors !! ❤️🔥
I'm 30 and loved the doors since i was 15
Still my favourite band
1968. I just got out of high school. Back then we didn't know what WTF meant. Now I do !!!
@kennedy V same here
Only thing you can do is to visit all the concerts of the few bands from that time that remained until today
That's the way how I'm doin
Ten years later from now no one of this time will live anymore or at least won't be able to give concerts
I miss this band.
@@willspencer8694 I'm 16 and I was their fan since I was 11 and I still listen to them
Bern to the doors since 73. Best ever!
Just three men are doing all the instrumentals on this song with Morrison singing. Amazing !!!!
Jim, with the baby-face and the BIG primal voice. I love it!
One of the greatest musical acts of all time
i have adored this band since its beginning ,,i still get chills down my back every time i hear them xx The 60s era was something else ,,what utter delight it was being part of it xxxlol
What a performance is an understatement
thats was music you can never get old
