    Patriarchy, the idea that men rule for men's benefit is feminism's 'Primal Misunderstanding'. Primal, because the ancient origins of men in positions of power was not men (nor women) but the CIRCUMSTANCES they found themselves in. Those circumstances were a lawless, regulation-less, highly competitive context in which, if a band or tribe was to survive, it needed strong protectors. And it just so happened that the sex most adept at strength, protection and competition were males - and it still is. So, women who complain about 'patriarchy' should, in fact, be thanking their male ancestors without whom they wouldn't even be here. Instead of seeing men as competition-loving brutes, women could have compassion, understanding and respect for men who routinely protected, fought and died in their millions to protect women but who, today, get neither recognition nor thanks - only whining and complaints.

      That was perfectly and beautifully put.
      I will screenshot that comment before the YT gestapo degenerates try to delete it or shadow ban it.

      Sounds like a lot of self-deluded British empire “Divine Right to Rule” type horseshit. Appeal to nature and history is not a good argument lol. Sure, maybe there are some hypothetical goods that could come from the concept of a patriarchy. Great many evils too. So it’s an unacceptable system. That’s all there is to it.
      Edit: secondarily, calling men “the best protectors” or whatever when it’s the hyper masculine ideologies of capitalism and militarism that are destroying the planet. Lol
      Saying the origins of power are circumstances rather than people is like saying you can only get calories from eating fruit, but not oranges. People ARE circumstances. (More specifically, the opinions of people, particularly big apes who have the opinion “I should be allowed to do whatever I want.”)

    I disagree as I was spanked and do not resort to violence at all. Although I do think it should be a last resort cause there are many other useful tools.

    "spanking teaches kids how to practice domestic violence as adults" - disagree, and you're doing it wrong.

    I would be interested in seeing any data that he is using to justify his statements. Granted I didn't watch the video because the title alone shows its not worth it. But this seems like it could be a case of lying with data. If you research cases of domestic violence and find that a majority of the aggressors were spanked as a child then you might be tempted to argue spanking leads to domestic violence. The problem with that is it doesn't consider the millions of people that were spanked as a child but never ended up perpetrating domestic violence. I was spanked as a child, so was my brother and many of my friends and yet know of us are abusers. Of course it is a small sample size but given the fact that I know dozens of people that were spanked as children and never abused a partner or child it seems to indicate there is little correlation. My children are learning that domestic violence is not acceptable through the example I set by being kind and respectful to the women in my life. I guess that doesn't make for good youtube video content though.

    'Treat the issue not the gender'...but gender is linked in all the examples you give - domestic violence, homelessness and suicide. They do affect one gender more (not exclusively) but more than another and there are social gender constructs and behaviors influencing that. I am a feminist but wouldn't critisise men for trying to support women. However, some of your language eg 'if you want me to explain their squawking' is showing (your albeit possibly unconcious gender bias) and appropriation of anti female stereotypes. Women as hysterical and shrieking. This is really depressing. You dont know peoples lived experiences and you are making unfounded assumptions. This is a fabulous way of undermining women once again. 'Oh but men get hurt too' yes, in some cases they do and thats awful but still doesnt take away from the amount of women murdered by men is horrific, it is endemic. I do a class where men and women are asked to write down all the ways they need to keep themselves safe on a night out. Out of 50 sessions men came up with maybe one or two points or none. Women fill pages...hold keys, pretend to use phone, limit eye contact, walk in groups, carry trainers etc. Violence to women from men is an epidemic. So sad, so, so sad listening too you. 😢

    So you say 33% of domestic violence victims are men, but you don't mention who the perpetrators are. It's no wonder this guy has encountered so much pushback from people working in the field. His beliefs run counter to reality and actual research.

    • @connorp3030

      It's actually closer to 43% of domestic violence victims being male, and obviously the vast majority of perpetrators of domestic violence against men are women (though gay victims deserve support too)

      @Metamarky 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @connorp3030 I don't know where you're getting your information from, but here in Australia that is no where near close to reality. About 17% of women have experienced domestic abuse compared to around 5% of men. I can't imagine it's that much different in other countries

      Thank you for bringing awareness on men as victims of partner violence. This is an important topic that needs to be part of discussions on domestic violence.

      Domestic violence should not be a gendered issue. Violence is violence. As a woman who writes on men's issues, your points are spot on.

    • @Metamarky
      @Metamarky 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@charmelizabeth8584 it IS a gendered issue because the overwhelming majority of victims are women. This guy is totally distorting the facts.
