Thank you for sharing this video. I was stumped when I looked at my score and it showed Stableford instead of strokes. I'm all set now and appreciate your video.
thanks, that is really kind of you. I have received several encouraging comments. Perhaps I should do more "Product reviews" (but I am no "influencer" so can only review what I use myself..) -- please feel free to subscribe to my channel anyway
Thanks for your videos. I have this watch but have struggled to use some of the features so your instructions have certainly helped. It might also be useful to share a screenshot of the app after a round - I love the way it shows a map of all your shots and provides a performance breakdown (average distance with each club etc)
Thanks Mick. Another user also suggested such a screenshot- Unfortunately I can not upload a photo here. But here is a photo showing that you can see your current stableford score at any point in a round of golf (here after 4 holes): th-cam.com/video/9YJoqXbGgiU/w-d-xo.html
Thank you again for the nice explanation! Could you maybe make a explanation video where yiu explain the watc-scoring in combination with the app on your iphone/ smartphone? Best regards, Yuri
Thanks for your suggestion. So far I have used the watch only in "stand-alone" mode and never while paired with the phone. At this time, I would not see a great advantage in doing so. The only situation I can imagine where this might be useful is if you are on a course you don't know + it is very difficult to see the layout (because of trees, bushes, doglegs) + there are no signs at the tee-boxes that show you the layout or even certain distances of the fairway in front of you..// but I will think of how I can make a video on the pairing..
Here is a new clip (thanks to you) on pairing the watch with a phone.. the scores/results, if saved on the watch, will also show up on the phone, once paired, but I have yet to use the phone while actually playing and keeping score (I still think just using the watch is easier). th-cam.com/video/RYopGt6AiA8/w-d-xo.html
Good question. I just checked today- Indeed: once you are playing, at any time you can press the top right button, select "scorecard" and then the screen shows on the upper two thirds, the overall strokes of the last one or two holes; on the bottom third it shows the stableford points won until that moment - and of course also at the end of the round. I can not upload a photo here. but you can see a screenshot by clicking here: th-cam.com/video/9YJoqXbGgiU/w-d-xo.html
Could you possibly show a pic example? Does it only give you total points accumulated as you go or the points scored for the current hole you just played and entered your strokes for?
thanks for the question. I have been wondering about that myself and have not found the trick yet. Normally, I just manually put in 8 strokes or so, as that will result in 0 points in a stableford count. but it will of course not correctly reflect the overall amount of strokes in the end. Once the golf season starts again, I will try to figure out a better way, and, if I remember, will post it here.

Glad it helped! - That watch is really good indeed. But as I say in the video, in practice I use only a fraction of its possibilities.
Best garmin s40 review I have seen.

Hello, interesting watch, great.
Thanks for watching
Will the watch give you your stableford points after each hole? Or only at the end of the round

It shows a running total at the bottom of the scorecard after each hole

@@AnotherLostBall exactly. Here's the screenshot: th-cam.com/video/9YJoqXbGgiU/w-d-xo.html
how do you scratch a hole on the S40? (for example: you go double bogey and won't recieve any points and pick up your ball?)
