I just got this press 4 months ago. I have been running a Rockchucker for years, so there were a few learning curves. It has proven to be a great press for my needs. Thank you for the great content.

This is a great press for the money, I've been loading on this press for 6 years I easily have over 100K on it . Its a great press if your reloading many calibers because its so quick to change out the dies and shell plate. I currently reload. 10mm, 357sig, .45acp and .223. This press has a few short comings like the powder measure comes loose and the primer tube also works its way out. But once I worked a fix for that its very reliable and way cheaper than the Dillon 650 to do a caliber change. Plus the primer system is better than the 650. When comparing this to my 1050 with mark 7 including all the sensors, that cost me $5000. I have to say I rather have my 5 grand back. The 1050 is so fast I can spend one weekend and reload all the 9mm I need for the whole year 12K so it basically sits there all year. Anyway this press is a great buy for the money. Very Versatile, BTW I broke the handle twice and Horanady replaced it for Free twice. They also replaced the primer shuttle twice as it will wear out over time. No press is perfect but for the money and if your reloading many calibers this is the best.

Gavin, You seem to be a master on this press. I have a question about it...how do you stop the shellplate from "clicking" into place so hard on each cycle so the powder doesn't spit out of the case? I have now loaded appr.400 rounds with the same shellplate and the press has probably been cycled about 6-700 times. I keep the detents very clean and lubed, as I was directed by hornady...still doing it. What a mess everytime I load. Also, I used your AR15 video to build my first lower..Great stuff!

Hey, im a little stuck with 2 different presses. The Hornady LNL-AP and the RCBS pro chucker 5. Right now they are both around the same price on amazon and dont know what to do!
I am mainly going to be using this for handgun loads like 9mm and 44 mag. Thanks!

I just got this press and am currently reloading 9mm with hogdon hs-6 powder. i watched all of hornady's instructional videos and thoroughly cleaned each piece of the powder measure, twice, with hornady's one shot dry lube but the powder is still sticking to the internal components. did this every happen to you and if so do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • @kenmcnulty7018

You mentioned lubricating brass with one shot even with carbide dies, which I have, I can definitely agree with a benefit. But I’d like to see a video of how you lubricate them. Do you worry about getting it inside the cases? Or do you have a method that avoids this? I’m always confused and concerned about when lubricant left on a case is detrimental, I hear guys talk about cleaning cases again after resizing to remove lubricant. I don’t do this. A while ago I switched from Imperial sizing wax to Imperial dry neck lube to keep the button from sticking in case mouth. Lubricants confuse me

Been really thinking about getting one just two questions for you . What about deburring the inside and outside of your cases and checking for over all length after resizing ..

stephen kerr you don't have to worry about case stretching on straight walled cases like most pistol cases.

    Gavin,
I also have the Hornady LNL-AP with the case feeder. I however have the hardest time getting the case feeder to drop only one 9mm case at a time. I have tried adjusting the system from the timing rod, to the plunger rod to the threaded feeder tube for hours. When I get it to where I think it works then it will drop multiple cases or drop none (all with the same adjustment). I can't seem to find its happy place. Every other caliber I reload I can get to drop just right, but just not 9mm. Could you share any tips? Thanks

    Hi Gavin,
i just put my LNL together.I had only put the first die, deprimer and resizing. It was running ok and all suddenly, it is not indexing completely. Everytime i push the handle the star only spin half move. So, the cases don't go into the dies... any suggestion..?

I noticed you did not use the bullet seater and taper crimp die. Is there a reason you did the seater only? Hornady recommend the taper crimp on 9mm and .45auto

Yes, they work just fine, but are sometimes at their limits (screwed all the way in just about) in order to be in the right position.

Has anyone else had a problem with loading the tubes like you see in this video? .. The press appears to come with a small and large tube set. Pretty sure I am using the right one for small primers (tried both of course) .. but the primers simply do not pickup. Seems simple enough .. but it just doesn't work. They don't pickup and fall right out like the plastic mouth is too wide. Anyone?
