Yeah that’s perfectly fine, just make sure you space things out properly and be aware how tall things will get, you don’t want to block the sun by planting tomatoes in front of onions for example. Also look up companion planting, some things do better next to certain things, onions go well next to carrots because they both deter pests onion fly & carrot fly. Good luck with your veg garden.

Good question not stupid, you can plant straight away if you have good soil like me. Adding some compost or well rotted manure is never a bad idea though.
