    This woman is a genius, she can literally make her own kitchen cabinets but she had to look up what the spoon was called. LOL. It's a good thing she has Romeo in the kitchen. But I love her and can't get enough of her videos.

    It's never enough...I could watch this channel for hours. Macenna thank you very much for being a fresh and positive air on TH-cam. But today I want to highlight how beautiful this community is. I always see nice, constructive and respectful comments; and this is unusual in social networks. I hope we can continue infecting everyone who arrives with this positive vibe; since we need more than ever, to have a break from all the negativity that society is experiencing. God bless you all. I recognize where u are which is so cool bc I rarely see houston in media. I live in the suburbs of Houston but the reason u found so many good furniture stores is because you are right next to the biggest shopping mall of the city (Galleria) and adjacent to some of the richer homes (River Oaks). Not far from actual downtown. Glad u enjoyed the shopping!

    Great that you got unscented candles for the dining room table so that the scent doesn’t fight with food aromas while you are eating. Also,I clean everything wood related with diluted Murphy’s Oil Soap.I keep some in a spray bottle and spray all of my thrifted baskets with it in the shower,rinse and let air dry.( I also clean my baskets that way every year because it not only gets the dust off,but nourishes the wood) It will work great and be safe on your salt and pepper shakers. Before you use you new cutting board,get some food safe mineral oil at the drugstore and oil it with a paper towel.( food oils can turn rancid)😬. (When I buy a cutting board at a yard sale,etc.,I bleach it,sand it,then apply the mineral oil.)🙌🏻

      Never in my life has something wooden that I treated with neutral oil has gone rancid. NEVER. I have things from my Great Great Grand parents that were always treated with neutral oil and they are in perfect condition, never gone rancid. Don't use olive oil. But normal sunflower o corn oil works just fine. Unless in the US they put stuff in the oil that makes them go rancid.

I think, these days, spatula only refers to the scraper thingy. About gardening; those cute Target gloves are for ladies who tend their primroses and orchids in a greenhouse. They won't last a day if you are doing real gardening and landscaping. What you want is goatskin gloves. They are supple, but TOUGH. They are expensive, but they will last at least a whole season, maybe longer. I wish I could help you with the landscaping. I love every minute I get to spend in my garden. Except when it's hot and humid. But fall is a great time to plant your bushes, trees, and perennials. Have fun!

    Salt and pepper shaker: open the top and dump any left over salt and pepper. get a small mild abrasive brush/ cloth (dry) and clean out the inside. Take a damp cloth with white vinegar. Make sure NOT to soak them because they could start to mold and or ruin the wood and clean any residue. Also do it outside just incase there are “friends” living in them.

    Countertops going in! How exciting! And it is so cute to see you so excited to be able to have a garden for the first time. And to be in your own home you designed. No cookie cutter home here for sure. I know you will enjoy puttering in the yard with your own flower garden--taking cuttings of fresh flowers and bringing them inside or getting fresh veggies from the garden. It will be your respite from the stresses of work... Good for you... I remember when we owned our first home and I was able to fill the yard with roses--some of my favorite old classics--Double Delight, Fragrant Cloud, Angel Face...some other classics--The Peace rose, Chicago Peace, Mr. Lincoln, etc.. Depending on what works in your area... But I also see the Old Garden Roses--Heirloom roses... They would really fit the theme of your house...and the scents are wonderful! Have fun! 😊

      Be sure and check with your local agricultural extension for the best native plants when you begin to plan what to plant, they will need less toxic pesticides and will grow best in your climate. Attracting all the right pollinators too!

    • @ilikecontent2327
      @ilikecontent2327 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@merlin711oregon Of course. Which is why I mentioned to check to see what works best for your area. Nurseries that I know of stock plants that work in your region. A reputable one does not want to sell you something that won't work for you as they want you back as a customer. Roses tend to work well in most climates. But Texas gets and stays hot for so long... They'll need good water access unless they go for more drought tolerant plants. I hope they have a good well/water flow/or a good city system... We don't think about it too much as we have great water access, but they still ask us to conserve during the hottest months. Still we are luck not to have the water shortages that other states have. We have lots of pools, hot tubs, green lawns, and green golf courses here... Could do with fewer golf courses though... 😉

    You can clean the outside of the pepper and salt shaker with baking soda and afterwards put some oil on them. That’s also a good way to clean cutting boards made of wood and spoons. Ad some baking soda and a little bit of lemon juice or citric acid and rub them well. It cleans them and is good against bacteria and grose stuff. The oil will let them look like new and give the wood a treatment so it will last longer. 😊🌸

  • @l.d-h3841
    @l.d-h3841 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To clean your salt and pepper set: It looks greasy and dusty, right? Oil and grease is best broken down by an alkaline solution, which is why regular dish soap (pH 8-10) is so effective on oily pots and pans. It may sound overly simple, but you can use dish soap and warm/hot water with an absorbent rag like microfiber to take grease off of wood. Dont worry about using too much water, just let them dry completely. Then, if they have a finish on them, just use furniture polish or oil. If they don't have a finish, I would sand them with a fine steel wool and finish with mineral oil from the hardware store. It's what I use on wooden bowls, cutting boards, and other kitchen pieces that get regular use. I've cleaned a lot of smoke-tar off of wood too, and in that case, hot water and white vinegar are the best way to go.

    Try using a salt and water scrub on the salt and pepper shakers. It will take away all the dirt and grime. Then use a wood safe oil on the outside to refresh the wood. Love all you do from Toronto, Canada

    My Grandfather and Dad used Murphy oil soap to clean wood pieces and wood furniture. It is great and makes the piece look rehydrated and better than before!

      Yes, Murphy oil is the absolute best for cleaning wood! And it nourishes it at the same time too.

    I am actually currently working on a quilt that is 90"x90" lol! I consider it somewhere between a queen and king, as it has considerable drop on a queen bed, but also a slight drop on a king I think, though smaller than standard king blanket dimensions. I chose that size so it would work if I went up to a king size at some point. I chose the square shape because I think square quilts are cute and kind of satisfyingly-symmetrical, and you don't have to worry about the direction of it when putting it on your bed as long as the prints aren"t directional!

    “90 x 90. What does that make it?” “Square.” Hilarious! I literally laughed out loud at that!!!! Best line ever!
    I just adore Kinsley! I was going to ask how she’s adjusting to her new home, but you really answered that. I got a new sofa and my little one had to adjust her jump, too. 💕

    I have the same Kitchenaid toaster over/air fryer and I LOVE mine! Much nicer than having separate toaster, air fryer, and toaster oven. I rarely use my real oven anymore because of it xD
    Excited for you to finally have your countertops!

    Love your sweet pup!! When my Yorkie was younger, he loved to play with half of a plastic Easter egg. He would carry it in his mouth like Kinsley did and it looked like he had a clown nose! Cutest thing ever. He's 17 now and doesn't play any more. But the memory was nice! : )

    My husband cleans wood tables with lemon oil. I’m not sure if it works on salt and pepper mills. But those are neat. I would Google it first. But it brings old tables back to life. They look beautiful when you’re done cleaning them. I can’t wait to see the countertops.

    Salt and pepper grinders: I found this article on A Frenchtown Kitchen and Garden: Maybe a swipe of food-grade mineral oil on the outside after they're cleaned?
    First I opened the tops and emptied any salt and pepper left inside.
    Next I used a can of air - the kind you clean a keyboard with to blow out any remaining salt or pepper residue. The pepper mill was empty, but the salt shaker surprised me by dumping salt all over me. So, do this over the sink.
    Then, I used a thin bottle brush to clean the insides again, just to make sure they were as empty as possible. You may want to repeat the blow-out step.
    Next I used a mildly abrasive pad and a pan scraper to remove any gunk that accumulated on the outside of the shakers.
    Finally, I moistened a soft cloth with vinegar and wiped off the outside of the shakers.

    Spray the wood salt and pepper grinders with oven cleaner and let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes. Then just use a little scrub brush and rise with water. Voila! Clean and beautiful 😍

    We are renovating a 1904 home and I ordered a 48”Hallman range. It was supposed to be here in may. It never came. I called the manufacturer & they said it would likely be November. I literally designed my kitchen around that stove…so I was devastated, cancelled the order & purchased an ilve range. Apparently they are basically the same just branded different. It is more expensive but it is in stock & I got it in 2 weeks!!!!
    I usually don’t comment cause I know you are busy but love you and your videos & wanted to give you a heads up & in case you didn’t know about the ilve being the same as Hallman 😘

    I'm happy that things are moving along for your dream home! It's been fun watching the progression of things over the past 1.5 yrs. Just my two sense on the air fryer...we have the instant pot conventional oven that has a similar basket for the air fryer as the KitchenAid one and it is not the same as a traditional air fryer. Our food gets stuck on those pesky grates of the air fryer basket and cleaning it is a nightmare. We prefer the Ninja Foodi for air frying since the basket is non-stick and makes the food crispier than the oven did. The Foodi is also a pressure cooker, slow cooker etc so it's multi functional as well. Anyway, can't wait to see how everything continues to come together!
