Just purchased and assembled the P-Flux2. It stands about 6-7ft. lt has way more capability than I need, but I wanted the HEPA filtration, sound enclosure, and 220v @ 13A. The written instructions are not that great, so I primarily referred to Laguna’s TH-cam video-that guy does an outstanding job clearly and calmly explaining every step. For example, the written instructions start by indicating that you need a fork lift to lift the main body of the unit onto the stand assembly. What? I don’t have a stinking fork lift!!! Instead, the Laguna video shows assembling the unit on its side, then tipping upright with 2-3 individuals. Caution-it is very heavy-but I was able to get the unit upright very safely with the help of 3 friends.
From what I can see your collection bin is supposed to have a second internal Cylinder to keep the bag from imploding. That’s what’s triggering your Fill centre. They have a assembly video I watched and your are missing the vin liner .
No, you don't get how the cyclonic separator is supposed to work (@3:19). A properly designed unit has the chips *and* most of the fine dust going into the bin at the bottom of the cyclone. Only a very small amount of the finest dust should reach the HEPA filter.
Thanks, great review. What size service do you have for it? It's supposed to draw 18.8 amps on 120v so I assume a 20 amp circuit isn't enough (at 80% load). I have a 220v circuit available but the 240v conversion is pricey (I just got a quote for $375 CAD worth of parts).
Hi Matthew awesome review I was wondering what was the purpose of the hose that you had to take off. I have the C/FLUX 1.5 hp but my shop is a fraction of the size of yours and thought I might be able to upgrade the filter when it needs to be replaced ( just the filter) so when you mentioned the dust collector I was really looking forward to seeing your review and really happy to learn you use the flex hose to move from machine to machine that’s the same way I do it sometimes it’s a pain but no biggy. I really appreciate your the review, and I love my Laguna Dust Collection.
It provides reverse suction to the drum to help hold the bag down. Since I no longer use the bag, I removed the hose and covered the holes with what came with the collector.
Hello from Russia. In order to avoid the starvation effect and the dust does not fly into the HEPA filter, it is necessary to make a narrowed inlet collector of the cyclone to form a swirl.
Any problems with the Laguna P-Flux 1 keeping up with planing with the Hammer A3-31? The Hammer clogs my current Harbor Freight collector with a Thien separator and was looking at this unit.
Thanks for the video. What has maintenance cost been like now that time has passed? For example, how often do you need to replace filters and whether that is expensive.
I have the P Flux 2 and do like it. The only problem I've had with it is the drum full light coming on after I've been doing a lot od drum sanding. So I shut it down and wipe the sensor off and it the light turns off. Maybe I need to adjust the sensitivity? Haven't had the problem like you with the plastic bag which I'm still using.
Hmmmmm. I have not done drum sanding with it. I can see how that would cause the problem you are talking about. The adjustment is for depth, but if the sensor gets covered I don't know how you'd adjust that.
Hey Matthew, thanks for this! Very cool and I ended up getting one. Question for you. - did you convert yours to run at 220v? I replaced the circuit board but I am confused by the motor wiring diagram. If you remember the wire configuration that would be awesome!
After a bit I research I ordered the Cflux. When I went to Woodcraft to pick it up they informed me that there had been an error with my order and I would be getting the Pflux for no additional charge. Well I love getting a $1600 machine for $1000 but had not done much research on the Pflux. Thanks for the review, I look forward to putting mine together.
Matt, how do you clean the filter? I have the same model and it doesn’t have the flapper thing to agitate the filter pleats. I looked on Laugna’s website for it, but they only have the powered automatic one for like $400. I’ve been getting by with just getting my arm in there, but that makes a mess. Just seeing if I’m not very bright, or if this is an issue with this particular model. Thanks
Nice video, thank you for posting it. I bought the P-Flux 3 just after it was released last year, and although it has a lot of good features which you covered well, I have one major complaint; I wonder if you've seen similar from yours. No matter what I do, the small bin under the HEPA filter fills extremely quickly with chips and dust, to the point where it fills at about the same rate as the full collection bin. I've been in contact with Laguna and they sent a small metal reducer to sit between the cyclone and the collection bin, but it hasn't helped all that much. As you said, these systems can't be as efficient at separation as a full size cyclone, but this performance for such an expensive machine has been pretty disappointing.
The system has to maintain a large volume and velocity of airflow to maintain proper separation. If the system is starved by running through long 4" dia hoses then the cyclonic separation will be reduced. For this reason proper ducting design is crucial.
for example you can see from his video it's all 4" blue hose. That's bad duct design. Should only have 4" flex hose just between the tool and a proper 6" duct.
I've found that if running on a 4" hose as per in the video - it's essential to open the second 4" port (take the rubber cap off) as you say, the machine needs a large volume of air to create the cyclonic vortex.

Just bought one. Do you feel a 6 or 8 inch duct to get closer to machine would help much ? It’s a pain to find duct bigger than 4 inch.
Nick, I’ve never looking into duct work and what sizes to do runs etc. Marc or Matthew have stuff on this. I’d check out what they have.
So Matt one year later how is it doing? I’m thinking about getting the same model.
Still love it!
Where did you buy this on sale?
I don’t remember. Been to long!
Thanks for the video. What has maintenance cost been like now that time has passed? For example, how often do you need to replace filters and whether that is expensive.
No maintenance cost. Filters you blow out with compressed air.

Compressed air.
make sure the compressed air is regulated to less than 60psi

Stuff definitely get to the bottom of the filter, but it's not 1 to 1 for me. I do have the splitter but have not tried it yet.

Great review, Mathew. If I were younger, and/or didn't live alone, I would probably get one of those :>).
Ha! Sounds good, Steve.
Cremona got a similar one. Oh how I miss the Matt and Matt show.
Talk to Matt about it, Brian.
Make my Flux the P-Flux. I wants to get Flux'd up.
So it sucks.....but in a good way.
Yes!
