Hey Jarod good work. I've been a framer for 8 plus years here in Gig Harbor Washington framed quite a few houses with step-down foundations one thing that i started doing is when I set my string line from coast to coast i will take a five-way laser and set it on top of foundation and then shoot up to the underside of the string line then mark the bottom lazer . We found that to be accurate and easier for us. When one person is rolling floor joist one thing that made it easier for us to do it as a single person job is to set one floor joist from front to back on foundation then when you get your next floor joist slide it on the first joist then when you're on top of the other side of the foundation or touching your Rim joist just roll it over and repeat that process. Keep up the good work👍.
Why don’t you guys get a surveyor ( you Americans are about to get to Mars shortly but still do things from 1975 )…in paid by the client or builder to set pins on all your external corners etc. All you do is turn up and join the dots and whooshka your ready to go.
@@Coffmanconstruction I know you’re very capable mate, I watch your content. Some of those big builds you do would save you and your crew at least 3/4hrs. That’s what happens here in Sydney. Just my 2 cents worth. Hopefully you don’t get that snow that’s hitting the USA.
@@jayframes4967 wow we were doing that in the 90s. Our surveyors do the slabs, the centre dividing walls, footings, formwork checks. We also have contractors that don’t know how to read a farkin tape or plans as well 😂
Don’t waste your time snapping lines on the foundation. Just set your mudsill flush and go with it. Take care of the squaring when you have the floor on.

Great work guys!!! Quality work as always.
You guys are A1 awesome. Great stuff ,thx for the teaching👍
Excellent video
10:20 you don't pull tape to keep joists on layout / plumb?
Let's go big J!👏👏👏👏👏
What's going on with all the steel beams on the basement floor?
In Colorado we do a lot of structural basement floors to keep the floor off of the dirt which can heave really bad out here
@@Coffmanconstruction never seen that before, looks expensive haha
What piece of music did you use at 12:14 in this video? Who is the artist and what is the name of the song? Its really nice.
Did you check the foundation's dimensions before hand to see if that control line was a good fit in relation to all other points on it?
Love this! Can’t wait for more tutorial vids like this. Just subbed to support you 🫡
Thanks for subbing!
Very good video to learn framing for doing my own house in the future thanks.....
Glad it was helpful!
Maybe not shown but I didn’t see any shimming going on with sill plate. Are the concrete guys that good getting it level
Great video, do I need another cup of coffee or did I see you nail a wood plate to a I beam? If so what kind of nail gun 🤔
You did! Max powerlite system
@@Coffmanconstruction thank you for your reply have a great day
Hey Jarrod, nice work as usual bro👍 How did you find the foundation for being within spec's?
It was alright, +\- an inch for dimensions, and like 1/4 for level
Goodmorning, what gun are you guys using to nail through the steel beams?
Max powerlite HN120! It needs a special compressor but worth it
Здравствуйте, хорошая работа! Как вы защищаете каркасные стены и перекрытия от мышей?
damn, they put a lot of steel in those basements these days
Just curious, what’s the reason you switch around what hammer you use? Unless I’m mistaken I’ve seen you swing a martinez
Just depends how I’m feeling!
What gun is that wood too steel beam
high pressure by Max
Wow no wshers, in the NW we have to use 2 1/2" x 3/16" washers.
👍👍
yea, but what you eatin' for lunch?
👍

If I’m capable of doing it too does that not make the surveyor obsolete?

Unfortunately we did get it 😭 been working on roofs all week in 20° and wind and snow
Here in Ontario Canada surveyor's pin exterior corners at footings stage, and that's it!

The foundation was far enough off that if I built to the foundation the trusses would have to be re ordered
And then how would you handle all of the places where the mud sill is protruding beyond the floor joists?
mice
Great work! What’s with the gay music?
