Thanks! 12 years later, it’s still there! I sold the property in 2018, and it’s sold twice since then - and the fan is seen in all the real estate photos
Should PASS CODE ANY PLACE on the planet! The only possible thing with this whole job. We normally use THHN wire inside conduit, but my guess is he used standard 12 or 14 gauge Romex no breaks end to end, which is perfectly fine. If that's true, only one tiny detail remains. Wait for it! The romex shall be secured to the stud not more than 6 inches from said box. Boo Hoo! Not sure how many women you could sell the look to tho. But In case of splices inside the LB (Elbow Box) the romex would need to be secured as it exits the conduit. Job well done Bro! Electrically safe!
@Lachlant1984 Technically, the downrod isn't "conduit." Anyway, when installing fixtures in a post-and-beam house without plenum (or an attic) above the ceiling, conduit is the only way to get the job done. I think it gives the house character, to be honest.
That looks good, I think one thing you should have don, is replace the out side light switch box with a double box, that would have looked better, I think.
I bought the hunter Fan/Light Universal Remote Control Model# 27148 the remote is in silver. You can also get the remote in white with the kit that Model# 27144. I have not had any problems with mine so far had it for almost two years now.
I've never before seen a Ceiling Fan installation with the electrical cables running through a conduit from the wall up to the fan, usually with fans I've seen the cables run straight through the canopy mounted on the ceiling through the down rod into the fan, so the only 'conduit' is just the down rod running to the fan.
What blade size is your fan I just installed a ceiling fan not long ago. I bought the hunter Regalia 60". I had to buy the remote separate but I liked the modern look it had. This model came with a 45 angle adapter, blade balance kit the only thing I did not like was the vibration dampers it came with. I had to remove them to get it to mount to the metal fan box. I installed a different hunter model in the living room. I wonder why hunter does not include a temp metal cable install hanger.
Sorry, but I wouldn't call it visually appealing (more like appalling) having that conduit running all the way on the beam. My guys just installed the same but added a cross beam to match and hid the conduit in it and then ran the conduit on the far side of beam, painted it to match the beam. The whole thing just blends in and looks like it was originally there. Would add a photo if I could. As a woman I would have had a fit if I came home and saw that they did what you did.
Very glad to see you did this proper! I'm an electrician, the only thing we don't use are those plastic boxes. here they make metal ones and these things called F clips. a lot easier to work with in my mind. not as deep as your box. the pipe work also looks great painted black! didn't the fan come with a balancing kit?
lol.. you COULD have saved yourself a hole.. use a double-switch.. they make decora-style single-sized switches with handle-style switches on 'em.. just replace the existing switch.. otherwise it's done well.. :D
should have used lag bolts or something better than a 2" screw.. that fan is going to wiggle those screws loose.. may not be for 10 years but i would redo that..
'Tis a shame you went with such a piece of junk for this install. If you replace it soon, check your local Craigslist or check eBay regularly for nice used fans from any or all of the following brands: -Casablanca -Hunter (pre-2001) [yes, that Hunter] -FASCO -Emerson [yes, the same Emerson that made some of the best portables ever]
+amberlynn6914 I know, I'm a vintage fan enthusiast myself. The fan is still working well 4 years later, and it's always running. My plan is to sell the condo as soon as the market conditions allow, and the cheap fan goes with it!
Very thorough presentation! Nice job! 👍👍 :-)

@@bbishoppcm Ha. That's great!

This was of course done over 11 years ago - I have since learned a ton, and have rewired about 70% of my current home - a 1950s ranch.
Harbor Breeze Crosswind.
Thanks

Sure, but who wants to put in a whole days work for it? This is the only vid on YT I have found that is up to code on this type job.
I notice you didn't make a "box offset" in your conduit where it connects to the ceiling fan box.
I most certainly did. Look closer.
Most folks don't have hickey bender, besides you know full well it would be just fine without it.

It was done on purpose - I loved the exposed conduit look. To each their own.

@Sansui350A (face-palm), f***, you're right... I know these exist, what the hell was I thinking! Oh well, I'm still very happy with the results!

While true, this way he can use any fancey full sized control they come up with.
I needed to find a way to get the wire into the box - this is how I ended up doing it
very nice fan
What remote did you use with the Regalia. i purchased a honeywell, but it doesn't easily install with my 2 wire setup.
The bracket is mounted to a fan-rated fixture box; the fixture box is anchored to the beam using 2" deck screws.
Is it ok to mount the bracket directly to the beam without a fan box?
@@chenyinge4170 No! Not to code, any arching of wires would be directly exposed to the wood beam. This job should pass code anyplace on the planet!
@bbishoppcm LoL, save it for when you want an outside light.. :D
love it
it anit goin no weres lik geroge lopez!

Excellent.
These fans aren't that bad
It’s now been there for 12 years, the condo has been sold three times, and removated once - the fan is still there!
The proper tearm for "floor mount" is "flange" Haha just so you know!
First .... Nice Fanny.
Poor focus, poor lighting
Well the video was made in 2011 so what do you expect? 1080p quality?
Poor you
