There's a producer that signals to the talent to let them know the show is cutting to commercial. It's usually done through the ref earpiece in matches but for promos or non-match bits they've got a ringside staffer that does the same thing. That's who MJF was yelling at near the end, the producer was giving him a countdown via fingers to let him know how many seconds he had to wrap things up.

The problem with it being a work is that what he said was all true and it's an indictment of Tony Khan. Does Tony Khan wants to play a heel now? He's not ready for this deep boiling water. Nobody is ready for the heat MJF is cooking but he did just go super babyface. The crowd chanted his name after he ran out and during the commercial breaks. That means no more feuds with MJF for Punk or Wardlow or any other babyface. Reports are the segment went twice as long as it was supposed to. The only Internet trope about AEW he didn't touch is calling TK a cokehead. He blasted every negative perception of AEW and its boss across national TV. He went so much harder than Punk's cheesedick pipebomb (against Cena, who actually was the best in the world). He's made every feud worth watching yet there are people say he is not a draw and MJF is a flash in the pan. Name another heel since day one that makes you hate their guts like MJF has almost consistently? You can't! Nobody comes close then keeping character outside of wrestling on top of that??? MJF is old school pro wrestling. Doesn't have to do all the flips and dangerous spots like Darby, Moxley, or Joey Janella to make audiences buy in. I was around when WCW was bringing in WWE it didn’t work for them and it won’t work for AEW either. I called it months ago. AEW was making a mistake by bringing in all these WWE guys. While I am pretty sure this is a work, MJF is speaking facts. It’s a similar situation to what Chris Jericho was going through when he was at WCW. If MJF doesn’t get his raise without having to extend his contract then he is going to leave. WWE has already said they would sign him if he leaves. They can’t make him an offer because that would be tampering. They can however hypothetically say they would be interested.
2024 is the end of MJF’s contract, no him being pushed. But MJF isn’t lying, he delivers every time they give him the ball. Tony is gonna pay him, he would be crazy to think that he’s not worth it.

For one, if this is an actual dispute there is almost 0 chance he makes it to the end of the segment of this promo. That mic gets cut after the first minute if he even is allowed to go out there in the first place. Two. No way anyone starts a contract dispute to this level 2 years out. Thats two years to continue to be the best in the business and raise your value. If Tony doesnt pay him. Vince will. I gneuinely think this has to be shoot of the industry. CM Punk's iconic Pipe Bomb was good but damn Maxwell hit it on the nose with fact after fact. At first I wasn't overly keen on him, and yeah I compared him to the Miz as a cut-price Miz. But good god he's improved on me, his promos with CM Punk were legendary, and this sealed it for me. He's great in the ring, he's utterly unstoppable on the mic.

My dude, I've been watching wrestling since 1988. I can tell you that it's always had a really bad habit of ignoring the young guys while putting the previous stars in the spotlight. But what the old territories and companies used to do was let the young guys kinda do their own thing, and if they got over organically, start giving them a push, and if they didn't get over organically, show them the door or have them job for a year until they moved on to another place to work. But that's not Tony Khan's style. He wants to do what he wants to do and if the people like it, awesome, and if they don't, they're just a bot. I like AEW, don't get me wrong. But Tony needs to calm down and start listening to the fans more.

Taking what was likely a small, quiet problem that for what I understand has been "fixed" behind the scenes and making it something that might fool a few in 2022 is smart. He's using alot of Jim Cornette's "I hate aew" material, which is fine and I'm sure they read twitter and other idiot takes and just are using it here. 2024 is the end of MJF’s contract, no him being pushed. But MJF isn’t lying, he delivers every time they give him the ball. Tony is gonna pay him, he would be crazy to think that he’s not worth it.
How do you turn the most hated guy in wrestling into the face of your company? With something everyone can relate to. A boss who doesnt respect your work and money. In 6 minutes this man brought a crowd telling him to shut the fuck up to a standing ovation.
Here is why i think they are taking the reality and making it a work.
For one, if this is an actual dispute there is almost 0 chance he makes it to the end of the segment of this promo. That mic gets cut after the first minute if he even is allowed to go out there in the first place.
Two. No way anyone starts a contract dispute to this level 2 years out. Thats two years to continue to be the best in the business and raise your value. If Tony doesnt pay him. Vince will. It just doesnt make sense to come of as a loose cannon and a liability with two years left.
Three. This has CM Punks signature alllllll over it. This is what punk wanted to do in WWE and they wouldnt let him. Punk now has the belt. He is a very smart and aware wrestler. Punk will bring the prestige to the title it needs. Drop to an MJF who threatens to leave the company with the belt. It's the same blueprint.
Four. Tony Khan is not about to let one of the Pillars of AEW and hottest stars in all of wrestling leave over money. There is always another reason. Not one person has left AEW because they werent getting paid. Cody wanted to stay a face and get the title and have more control. Anyone who thinks it was about money is wrong and wasnt paying attention. Time and time and time again they have put MJF over. They want him over. They have him over. What makes you think Tony thought he would get someone this over and not have to pay the man what he is clearly worth?
Five. My opening statement. In 6 minutes. MJF face turned with a single promo. No "stupid bullshit" necessary. No one in either company can do what he just did the way he did it. No one. You do not let the greatest and most controversial wrestler in the world on the mic who is supposedly pissed off about his situation and let him drop bomb after bomb after bomb. The guy he cursed out and said "Don't count me down you piece of shit" too? A producer. Telling him how much time is left in the segment till the commercial break. To look into the camera and call Tony Khan a "fucking mark" right before the break. You don't do that in a shoot.
MJF is now the face of AEW. And rightfully so.
Could punk turn heel and be like you respect your boss . Then that's how you get that story line going again.

I gneuinely think this has to be shoot of the industry. CM Punk's iconic Pipe Bomb was good but damn Maxwell hit it on the nose with fact after fact. At first I wasn't overly keen on him, and yeah I compared him to the Miz as a cut-price Miz. But good god he's improved on me, his promos with CM Punk were legendary, and this sealed it for me. He's great in the ring, he's utterly unstoppable on the mic.
MJF trashed the fans, and still cheered him. 2024 is when his contract ends, and he was yelling the production guy or guys who told signaled him to wrap up his speech. I'm glad he yelled, kept going, cause if he listened, and stopped it would've effected his whole rant.

My dude, I've been watching wrestling since 1988. I can tell you that it's always had a really bad habit of ignoring the young guys while putting the previous stars in the spotlight. But what the old territories and companies used to do was let the young guys kinda do their own thing, and if they got over organically, start giving them a push, and if they didn't get over organically, show them the door or have them job for a year until they moved on to another place to work. But that's not Tony Khan's style. He wants to do what he wants to do and if the people like it, awesome, and if they don't, they're just a bot. I like AEW, don't get me wrong. But Tony needs to calm down and start listening to the fans more.

It was good, definitely a work but I did get slightly confused by him being erased from the website.AEW roster, he's gone, his merch is gone from shop AEW lol It's been proven to be a storyline but they are going so far it's kinda wild. Taking what was likely a small, quiet problem that for what I understand has been "fixed" behind the scenes and making it something that might fool a few in 2022 is smart. He's using alot of Jim Cornette's "I hate aew" material, which is fine and I'm sure they read twitter and other idiot takes and just are using it here. I don't see a MJF vs. Tony thing going on but maybe they just have him gone a bit (fake suspended maybe) then he comes back in a few months and destroys CM Punk becoming the champion and this was all a "work" to point to him beating punk, the cheers he got might have been accidental, but a return that takes out Punk and him throwing more insults to ignorant fans would work as a super heel move.
