I've seen it in Cannes already. People who loved the Handmaiden please do not expect a similar twisted plot. This is a love story disguised as a detective film: it focuses more on characters' relationship and feelings rather than mystery or plot reveal. For example, there is very little violence and sex compared to his previous film. It feels less like a punch in the guts and more like a mature and poetic film.
Appreciate the info. Wrong expectations always fuck up film-watching experience.
So more arthouse than your typical Chan-Wook movie. Thanks for the heads up. Now I know what to expect going in. Can't wait!

@@fufu5068 My favorites are Oldboy, The Handmaiden, and Lady Vengeance. I would put Decision to Leave right below, but I cannot wait to rewatch it. This is definitely the kind of movie that benefits from being rewatched because it is quite unconventional despite its very conventional premise. I just find fascinating that Park tries to renew himself at every new movie, each of them has its unique identity and Decision to Leave certainly does: it's not like the Handmaiden and certainly not like Oldboy.
You should watch JSA, first film for which he became famous.. masterpiece!
Honestly, Park Chan Wook's movies always traumatized me, like whenever I finished one of his movies, I always ended up stop watching any movies for a while. That how powerful his movies were for me, so I cannot wait for this one too 🙏
Hmm, most of his movies had me say "What the FUCK did I just watch?" 😂 And that's a good thing. It doesn't matter whether I loved any of his films or not. PCW so far hasn't failed to surprise me.

Tang Wei is a great actress and I'm so glad that she is working on international projects again. Staying in the Chinese cinema industry does her no good.

This movie is so far the best K-movie I've seen this year. I've repeatedly watched the last few scenes, cried for Seo-Rae, cried for my buried long lost love which I found through Seo-Rae's love for Hae-Jun. Tang Wei deserve a best actress award for this movie. She was also amazing in Long Days Journey Into Night.

붕괴..similar word is collapse. Park Chan Wook tried to define the meaning of 붕괴 in love. If you ever have been in love, you will know how it feels. Still can’t get out of the last scene, it was so intense. OMG.

Banned from Chinese film industry after a film so called 'Lust, Caution', Tang wei was shown in a Korean movie 'Late Autumn'. This one is her second movie filmed by Korean director, the very Park Chan wook. On personal scale, so many reasons to watch this but their collaboration itself is good enough to rush into theatre. Can't wait till June.
@@Kekeke892 I thought that was in the past? She came back and got super popular. She is an A-lister in China still today. We don't see her on Chinese movies because she took a break and moved to live with her Korean husband in the country side of S.Korea.

@@aoh4905 Banned then unbanned. She was banned for a while then made a comeback with her movie in S.Korea, directed by her husband- they weren't dated back then yet. The movie became a hit. Her career bounced back in China and her movies were hit after hit. She rose to become an A-lister, 1 of the top actresses in China even today. Yes, she was part of mainstream movies. She was the female lead/main actor in many of those movies. She appeared in variety shows as well.

I have just watched the film at Curzon Bloomsbury, London. It is a very beautiful and poetical film with dream-like atmosphere. It is the most poetical film I have seen for the last few years with the possibility of personal interpretation. I just love the film. All actors and actresses are also physically very beautiful, captivating my eyes.
Goosebumps at maximum levels but curiosity is peaked cuz I don't even know wtf the movies about...just as it should be:)

I am excited to see this movie. The director, Park Chan-wook, and the artists he works with have a way of capturing the mind of women on screen in the stories he brings to life. With so many movies that have only offered shallow depictions of women, it is always pleasant to see art from someone with a keen perspective, someone mature and understanding.

A stunning film. The cinematography is astounding. A true piece of film noir, and very deep. A must-watch!
This film has it all, Drama, Crime, Mystery, Romance, and Thriller!
A twisted, "modern" romantic thriller that includes obsession. Never seen anything quite like it & you just don't know which way it will turn!
Such a profound ending and closure that is often lacking in so many films today.
A 5-star film.
For any Bong Joon-ho fans, the lead actor of this (Park Hae-il) was the final suspect in Memories of Murder
