    Coach discussing with another coach. Keeping it real. No imaginary masters, senseis or professors here.

      So true. Not many people can coach: it goes straight to their head and most totally lack any and all social skills. This one is good

    I started giving it a quick yank in the bathroom before class and my timing is now perfect

    Love the concept of the opponent driving forward being the equivalent of dragging that opponent. Cool stuff

    Love this. Speed decreases with age, timing doesn't, and it can be learned, even by older grapplers, like yours truly. Thank you, coaches, I have a comp coming up on Sat and my take downs are lacking, although they are better than the last time, I'm working on them and I plan to keep on working even after the comp, regardless of the results, because the coach at our academy that is taking time to teach me is awesome, and he believes in me

    The set-ups are so different in gi. I always feel more comfortable in no-gi because you don’t get stiff armed by gi grips on your collar or sleeves.

      Yeah but the principle in this video is the same. Don’t do a long pull... just a short quick one with more explosion in your attack execution.

    • @model84
      @model84 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the idea/principle is the same, catch him 'half-step' when he's leg is still in the air, basic judo concepts. Then use ouchi,kouchi,kosoto or other sweeps or use a 'judo sweep' to catch his leg with your leg and grab with free hand to go for some variation of single leg takedown. Or just go drop to the kness seoi nage or go two steps back to basics and focus on learning how to fight off the grip/use russian grip

    Recap:
    - Hard push
    - Opponent comes back towards you

    As a person doing BJJ years after a childhood of wrestling, this was eye opening for me. My timing was off in the exact way they described.

    Seems the same idea as balance breaking in judo before a trip or throw, catch them in that half beat.
    Same as counter punching too when really think about it, catch them coming in

    so coach this was a very insightful video. However I do have a question. Why is it that they teach to you the first way around? Where you exagerate the pull and then go through the move? Is it just to train the technique, and the eventual destination is kind of the pre-execution? thanks again

    The Gregorian calendar is overrated! Timing IS everything. The zodiac shows us clearly the year starts in March...the seasons. 0 degrees. Thanks as always coach.
