I met Jimi Hendrix in 1968 in a Chinese restaurant in San Mateo, California when I was 16. He was on his way to a concert in Oakland with the Soft Machine, and he was very gracious.

I always loved Jimi. His music never gets old. Driving home from work the other day, "Manic Depression," came on the radio & I cranked it up to 11+. I love the postcard that Jordan kinda passed by a little quickly where he talks about playing along w/Little Richard.

Oh Jordan! You sounded so truly happy seeing Jimi’s history before you! I would have felt the awe myself for sure! He was, in my humble opinion, the greatest musician of the 20th Century. I am a historian, and I always find it amazing to be up close to items that the historically “divine” have touched, ya know? It makes me feel small and big at the same time, if that makes any sense. It’s kind of mind blowing. So glad you got to see Jimi up close!

What an awesome vlog! Loved hearing about Jimi’s upbringing and his multi dimensional talents. The Jimi Hendrix at Home exhibit at the NAAM was such an in depth look into the man’s life! His art is colorful and free flowing. The family pictures and memorabilia are so cool. I think this exhibit comes the closest to capturing the essence of the real person. Thanks Jordan for sharing this with us!

This is great to see so much of Jimi's personal stuff cared for and exhibited for the public. I live in Ireland near where the Experiences bass player Noel Redding lived, before Noel died he gifted one of Jimi's shirts to a friend of a friend, well my friend ended up with the shirt (under strict condition he never sell it) I got to try on the shirt, it's a beautiful muti coloured with very soft materail and it felt soooooo uber cooool wearing one of Jimi's shirts and I hoped that some of his magic would seep into me.

"Johnny Allen," was the name his mother had given him while his father was in the service. His father imagined the name Johnny Allen could have been a guy that Lucille (jimis mother) was seeing while he was away, so he when he got back to Seattle he changed his son's name to James Marshall.
