Lowering your larynx isnt bad in singing. It creates more of a captivating and haunting sound and isnt unhealthy if you know how to properly utilize it. Mariah had the best lows in the trinity
My ranking: Lows: Celine. I know Mariah can go the lowest, but Celine doesn't drop her larynx so much like Mariah does and maintains her tone down there and just has more support. Belting: Whitney. I think Whitney has the best mid belts and upper belts. Most body and power in the mids and the most consistent and strong upper mix. Head Voice: Whitney. The most control out of the 3 Runs: Mariah. Probably the best runs like ever. I could go on and on about why she's the best, but in a few words, her runs are the most complex, fast, precise while simultaneously being the most musical. Mariah have the best rang but the sheer flat out singing and control of Whitney is unbelievable. Whitney Houston, how many knockout performances in which she had the world I have feet unfortunately I don’t have many that matches Whitney’s
I will say this until I die Mariah. Is the best out of the vocal Trinity why? Well her vocal range her style. Her riffs and runs her agility.2 Whitney may have started first. She's at the bar, okay. But when Mariah enter with VOL, she set the bar higher for pop and R&B singers also sibjective but mariah has the best catolog out of all 3 of them the most versatile and over all just the best I mean look at all the ppl she inspired with 1 song and now they are all mainstream. Whitney has power celine good belting and agility but mariah has the best agility emotion range
@ Bambam12340 You’re entitled to your opinion. In my opinion, none of them eclipsed the other. What I find impressive about Mariah is her large range extension being utilized in such an artistic way. With that being said, I don’t think VOL set any bar higher over Whitney, because Whitney’s biggest song came out years after VOL. Whitney’s technical strongpoints can’t really be duplicated by Celine or Mariah. Couple that with her emotional connection to god, and her inherently distinct and beautiful tone makes her one of a kind. Celine’s technical discipline sets her apart from the other two. Celine has the best registration balance and genre versatility of the three. Overall she is the most well rounded technically of the three. Once you reach a certain level of voice, I don’t think vocalists are “better” or the “best”.
@ Bambam12340 If that were the case, Whitney’s most critically acclaimed song wouldn’t have been released 2/3 years after VOL debuted, and people wouldn’t have drawn comparisons to Whitney when Mariah sang VOL (since people literally thought she was Whitney when it debuted on the radio). The people have spoken. Mariah established her own legacy of vocal and artistic excellence, but “setting the bar higher” she simply did not do. She is up in the big leagues with Whitney; She did not supersede her.
In terms of technique this is how it goes and your opinion doesn’t matter if you’re agree of you don’t, tone can be subjective over your taste, but technique can’t because techniques are facts More range doesn’t mean best!! Belting= Whitney (support/ resonance) Head voice= Whitney (support/ resonance Agility= Mariah (her runs are clear) Dynamics= Mariah (changes of registers) Sustain= Celine Stamina= Mariah Low notes= Whitney (you need to be deaf to not hear the Deeper tones over Celine and Mariah’s voices!!) Mix voice: Celine Dion (execution) Whistle: Mariah (obvious reasons)
Dynamic is not a change of register but vocal control and Whitney takes that especially head voice . Whitney's lows can't go lower than Celine and least consistency.
@@_brunoduarte_06when it comes to your knowledge about vocals and technique it surely doesn’t seem like you’re smart bcs you clearly don’t even have the capacity to understand that Celine is much better vocalist than Ariana Grande💀
@Bambam12340 Whitney is more versatile in her upper belts than Mariah. Whitney can sustain, add vibrato which Mairah can't do to the same level as Whitney. Plus Whitney belts using edge whereas Mariah belts in curb/neutral
Mariah's belts show more range and flexibility. She uses different vocal textures and can switch effortlessly between head and chest voice. While Whitney may rely more on edge, Mariah’s control and emotional expression set her apart
Dude, Mariah depresses her larynx a lot which is why she's not as consistent as Celine. She was consistent at F#3/F3 and Celine can go Eb3/E3 has strongest support and consistency. YES STRONGEST, do you even know vocal pedagogy at this point? Or because you haven't search a lot of Celine's discography. Celine projected them, Mariah muffled below F3 most of the time which creates more tension. Whitney is a HIGH SOPRANO so her low notes is not as good as great as the other two she's consistent at G3 only and that's significantly higher and not lower than Celine and Mariah. Lows- Celine> Mariah> Whitney Midbelts - Whitney> Celine> Whitney Upper belts- Whitney> Mariah> Celine Head voice- Whitney> Celine> Mariah Riffs and Runs- Mariah> Celine> Whiteny Agility- Whitney> Celine> Mariah (Agility is not riffs and runs but vocal dynamics, fioratura, coloratura and ornaments which is why Mariah is the last)
Trying to change someone's bias is like moving an immovable object. Céline absolutely has the strongest lows and the clips were quite reflective of that.
@Ahtistahin I also found that quite insane. What made it more tragic was him finding that absolutely hilarious. His hand was up at his mouth every time it was mentioned; it's seriously like junior high bullying. He has some beef with Céline that he should address or get rid of if he wants to be taken seriously as someone who knows at least the bare minimum about how the voice works.
@romanarts6645 But it was her prime nonetheless. Her voice may have been fatigued from trying to sound like a girl when she was a whole woman at that point.
@muzimthembu453 What do you mean by that? She always sang with a lowered larynx and raised soft palate and made her voice sound slightly deeper than it was.
@romanarts6645 Compare Saving All My Love For You 1985 to 1994. The key hasn't changed but notice how much darker and richer her low notes are in the first two verses. Also compare her body. Her body in 1994 was finally strong enough to support her voice, when before she was still physically and vocally developing.
Technically, Whitney's prime was 1985-1986 (imo). However, I agree with you that she focused on the resonance of her belts and that big, dark sound more during this area. Talk about filling your ears with sound, jeez, 1994 was an amazing year.
😭 You will never get a consensus on this because music is subjective and fans are biased. Trying to pin down note delivery technique while comparing known recordings over careers that lasted many years does a disservice because these ladies didn’t hit every note they’re capable of hitting during their prime or on popular songs. A weaker note here and there doesn’t necessarily mean that these ladies aren’t capable of doing better if the recording called for it. Whitney didn’t technically whistle, but she had the capability if she wanted to develop that register. She once jokingly sang opera and even the classical musicians on stage with her recognized that the ability was there. Her cousin is famous opera singer, Leontyne Price. All this is to say that even the technique you all attempt to compare doesn’t tell the full story. But one thing cannot that cannot be denied when choosing the best of the bunch is that Celine referred to Whitney as her idol. Mariah talked about Whitney’s influence in how she developed her voice-and it shows even without her admitting it. Whitney was most revered by the other two.
The best vocalist is Mariah Carey. Versatility, musicality is absolutely unmatched. Shes the only one out of the three, who could've sang any of the other two artists music in her prime. The same cant be said the other way around.
I wouldn’t say Kelly took Mariah’s spot, but she’s raising to be one of the best nowadays. On the other hand, Mariah can’t sing anymore. Generally people talk about her prime, but that’s in the past, she will be remembered as one of the best along with Whitney and Celine; however we also have to appreciate great vocalists we have nowadays.
@@Bambam12340 Agreed. Mariah hasn't been able to sing since 1998. Mariah have the best rang but the sheer flat out singing and control of Whitney is unbelievable. Whitney Houston, how many knockout performances in which she had the world I have feet unfortunately I don’t have many that matches Whitney’s

You obviously know nothing, you are just playing favoritism.
Celine's belt its so powerful its like asteriod hitting the earth ☺️
Celines voice is like crystal clear
I will say this until I die Mariah. Is the best out of the vocal Trinity why? Well her vocal range her style. Her riffs and runs her agility.2 Whitney may have started first. She's at the bar, okay. But when Mariah enter with VOL, she set the bar higher for pop and R&B singers also sibjective but mariah has the best catolog out of all 3 of them the most versatile and over all just the best I mean look at all the ppl she inspired with 1 song and now they are all mainstream. Whitney has power celine good belting and agility but mariah has the best agility emotion range
@ Bambam12340
You’re entitled to your opinion.
Mariah did set the bar higher with VOL
@ Bambam12340
If that were the case, Whitney’s most critically acclaimed song wouldn’t have been released 2/3 years after VOL debuted, and people wouldn’t have drawn comparisons to Whitney when Mariah sang VOL (since people literally thought she was Whitney when it debuted on the radio). The people have spoken. Mariah established her own legacy of vocal and artistic excellence, but “setting the bar higher” she simply did not do. She is up in the big leagues with Whitney; She did not supersede her.
She definitely set the bar higher for pop and R&B music
In terms of technique this is how it goes and your opinion doesn’t matter if you’re agree of you don’t, tone can be subjective over your taste, but technique can’t because techniques are facts
More range doesn’t mean best!!
Belting= Whitney (support/ resonance)
Head voice= Whitney (support/ resonance
Agility= Mariah (her runs are clear)
Dynamics= Mariah (changes of registers)
Sustain= Celine
Stamina= Mariah
Low notes= Whitney (you need to be deaf to not hear the Deeper tones over Celine and Mariah’s voices!!)
Mix voice: Celine Dion (execution)
Whistle: Mariah (obvious reasons)
Dynamic is not a change of register but vocal control and Whitney takes that especially head voice .
Whitney's lows can't go lower than Celine and least consistency.
Whitney is not the best for lows
Please lear aboiut music!!
Because i'm smart i understood but omg do you need some spelling lessons
@@_brunoduarte_06when it comes to your knowledge about vocals and technique it surely doesn’t seem like you’re smart bcs you clearly don’t even have the capacity to understand that Celine is much better vocalist than Ariana Grande💀
Lows- mariah Whitney celine
Mids- whitney celine mariah
Upper- mariah celine Whitney
Headvoice- Whitney celine mariah
Agility- mariah celine Whitney
Falsetto- mariah celine Whitney
Overall mariah
Omg I really agree with you
Whitney's upper belts are a better than both of theirs wdym
No they're not whitney is consistent up to E5 mariah is consistent up to E5 and up
@Bambam12340 Whitney is more versatile in her upper belts than Mariah.
While Whitney may rely more on edge, Mariah’s control and emotional expression set her apart
i think mariah said that she doesn't mix because is esasier for her make the transition from belting to falsetto/head voice
Belts: Whitney, Low voice: Mariah, Runs: Mariah, Head voice: Whitney
Lows- Celine> Mariah> Whitney
Midbelts - Whitney> Celine> Whitney
Upper belts- Whitney> Mariah> Celine
Head voice- Whitney> Celine> Mariah
Riffs and Runs- Mariah> Celine> Whiteny
Agility- Whitney> Celine> Mariah
(Agility is not riffs and runs but vocal dynamics, fioratura, coloratura and ornaments which is why Mariah is the last)
Trying to change someone's bias is like moving an immovable object. Céline absolutely has the strongest lows and the clips were quite reflective of that.
Perfect ranking
@@vocalsbyjiangxue And to say that Whitney had a better lower register💀
@Ahtistahin I also found that quite insane. What made it more tragic was him finding that absolutely hilarious. His hand was up at his mouth every time it was mentioned; it's seriously like junior high bullying. He has some beef with Céline that he should address or get rid of if he wants to be taken seriously as someone who knows at least the bare minimum about how the voice works.
@@vocalsbyjiangxue Lmao, you're shady on that last part of your statement.
Whitney's vocal prime was in 1994. That was when her low notes settled in.
@@muzimthembu453 but her voice was fatigued tho
No one can touch celine dion D5 note its very powerful and resonance
Is being educated about singing and having correct opinions frowned upon in your town?
Whitney & Celine
Kelly Clarkson took over Mariah's spot.
Mariah hasn't lost her spot to anybody lol. Kelly with her covers has become more comparable to Céline if you ask me.
How can mariah lose her spot when she's undoubtedly the best vocalist/artist in their prime? 🤣
Jelly is no where near mariah
@@Bambam12340 Agreed. Mariah hasn't been able to sing since 1998. Kelly Clarkson is the best vocalist in the game - she has every colour to her vocal palette and has mastered every technique perfectly. Gorgeous range, tone, thrilling belts - Kelly can sing with shimmering clarity or add rasp at will. She has whistle notes and full on Spinto Soprano power in her arsenal too. She can sing everything, beautifully. At 42, Kelly keeps getting better AND more renowned as the best vocalist we have! Whitney
We can all agree Whitney was the best mid belter, Mariah was the best upper belter, and Celine was the best mixer. Mariah takes the whistles obviously and lows (my opinion), Whitney takes head voice.
@Mommyyriah Whitney had the best upper belts and Celine takes lows
I don’t agree about upper belts. To me from a purely technical perspective, Whitney takes it whereas Mariah has a more intricate catalogue for them.
Mariah wa snot good at upper belyts. She could only poke them..Terrible technique with vasalva
@@odumosuolusegun2781 her and whitney actually belted. Celine didnt. So its just personal preference, although whitney can sustain the upper belts better than mariah the “poke” method is actually harder when your phrasing upper belts

Mariah doesnt stay in one note only..She hits the note and swiftly goes to other note like riffs and runs..and its incredible. All of them are amazing

Celine es la mejor. 😂.
Are you just showing a video somebody else did?
Your knowledge of vocal technique is clearly very poor or you are definitely biased…😂
No one here is perfect vocally. But all three are great.
Whitney - Great belts, head voice, Great sustained notes and phrasing.
Celine - Great Lows, head voice, high mixing and sustained notes.
Mariah - Great Lows, Belts, Whistle and Great phrasing
It’s about personal preference with these three really. They also got different styles of riffs and runs. But to be fair there’s not that much impact of Celine in general music industry compared to Mariah and Whitney. Whitney literally is the blueprint of these twos and every sustained notes singers/vocalist. And Mariah created her own impact with melisma, whistle, songwriting, a tiresome christmas music for most of retail workers😂, rnb crossover thing and one of the biggest comeback.
Whitney - the blueprint
Mariah - the artist
Celine - the performer

Saying Celine’s lows is better than Mariah’s is one of many reasons I don’t respect his opinion and his channel 💀
@LuisMiguelchart Mariah lowers her larynx and loses her tone in low notes and gets airy. Celine sings her lows with a neutral larynx, that is literally evidence of a better lower register
@ there’s still barely any power and depth in her lows compared to Mariah.
@LuisMiguelchart that depth is created by lowering the larynx though. And it still comes out airy, which means Mariah doesn't have as much stability in the lows either.
@ Mariah showed more stability in her lows in her performance of You & I then Celine has ever shown.
