In the 90s we saw SEALs in action (training). They were physically fit, for sure, but tactically, they were not impressive at all.
Our guys had to cease fire at a range in Virginia, because a SEAL team was coming in via helo. They touched down, jumped out, sprayed at our targets, got back on the bird and took off. Our guys went to check the targets....the SEALs hit nothing.
Another time, one of our teams got to do VBSS training with them. SEALs went first, fell off the fast ropes onto the deck of the ship, landed like turtles on their backs. Then they failed to neutralize a lot of RP "bad guys" in ship compartments, because they were just running through the ship like maniacs and not being thorough. Marines were finding "enemies" hiding behind doors and desks that the SEALs just ran by, and announced rooms as "clear."
    Not impressed.

If Jocko is claiming he gave up suppressed weapons and never got them back from a dead Marine, then its because Jocko's unit lost those items and he is angling for someone to blame who can't refute the claim.

Multi-tour Iraq War Army Veteran here. It was early on that zero signs of “invasion” or “domination” were to be tolerated in our formations in 2003. The iconic Humvee with the U.S. Flag draped over the engine was target No. 1. Guys, no more of this, we are here to assist Iraq by ousting bad guys, etc., etc. We are not hostile, take-over, domination forces, etc., etc.
Later, late in 2003 and into 2004, the IED became a weapon of the bad guys. In an effort to confuse the bad guys, higher command insisted that all vehicle “door art” or unit crest or unit markings were removed from our vehicles. Sure, unit bumper numbers remained, but all the Tiger Mouth, Skulls, skeleton hands holding playing cards, gunner’s chicken plate art, funny pictures, “WW2 fuselage art” was covered up. We were all in green or tan vehicles. No stencils of anything. We did this so that no one Army, Marine Corps or Air Force Transportation unit could be targeted with prejudice or bias, we made ourselves common to each other.
Then a unit showed up with outrageous stencils. Cool and cute at first. America “F Yeah,” and then we learned rules from the highest commands did not apply to these guys. They didn’t come in easy, they came in “look at me,” “look at us” we’re different, we’re bad @$$, we’re renegade.
The Strykers came in before them and they were SUPER DIFFERENT but they were developmental, and extensively well funded, well-trained and well-disciplined. They were “Active Duty Army” all the way. They wore gee-whiz helmets, body armor, pouches, uniforms and they all had gee-whiz weapons too, down to the Private level. Very impressive. Stryker Brigades. New stuff.
But these Humvee “SF” or “commando” guys were on an entirely different level, and they were immediately greeted with the recognition as “cowboys” doing their own thing. I had no idea who they were, they weren’t Army, they weren’t coalition and they were probably just contractors. By 2004 there were a lot of funky outfits (private organizations) rolling along in all kinds of rigs, doing all kinds of stuff. We didn’t talk to them, they didn’t talk to us. We just kept our distance.
If Cowboy units were in the area, we just let them pass by, and after a while we observed they liked to get into a higher than average percentage of contact (shootings) with whoever. Again, not our business and not our concern.
Seeing some of these cowboy units was like going back in time, they wore bandannas but no helmets, machine guns on Humvees but no humvee doors (mandatory for Army guys). Beards and baseball caps and very specialized, non-uniform weapons, like each guy was rocking his own version of gear, unique to that dude.
Further to the South, there were multi nation coalition ops going on and we routinely rolled into many interesting, coalition partner forces, we took pictures with all of them. We smiled, shook hands, took pictures and joked and laughed with all of them.
But when the cowboys in the humvees showed up, we didn’t share the same camaraderie. There was no mystery to what they were, they just seemed like US Government funded or equipped pirates. Somebody approved their appearance and I guess they had a chip on their shoulder to be better, or different, or more unique, or more creative, or more macho, or more Rambo, or whatever. They just “Desert Rat’ed” their way around the area, 3-4 Ranger-like, high speed humvees we’d never seen before (M-1114’s I found out later).
I’m glad we never did any missions together, I got the slimy feeling they would endanger us and now that I have found out who they were, l think to myself, “No wonder? That was these guys and they were imbedded in this area with [these] units doing that thing.”
Now it makes sense. I could go into greater detail here, but it’s not for a TH-cam comment.
    Thanks for the video sir.

@@John-mf6ky they in fact, did not like that attitude. Blackwater acted just like the early gwot seals did. We saw them blow through our cops and roll past our fobs. The soldier is right, they got into a lot of shit outside the green zone. Considering BW had no air power, it’s incredible so few of them bought it. The seals had all the air assets they could want stacked up on the horizon, and still took an alarming number of casualties. There is a reason the US changed tactics with regards to SOP shortly after defeating the initial wave insurgents.

Why would these Marines make this stuff up. I tend to believe them because other than their revulsion to seeing war crimes what dog do they have in that fight? Special Operations forces, on the other hand, are great and well-trained but they do tend to breed a cowboy mentality among the operators which we see a lot of both online and in the ever expanding realm of Special Operations literature for the masses.
I liked all of them better when they were a bit more modest. And this hero worship of Chris Kyle is a bit nauseating. Like that Marine boot who stood at attention saluting for the entire length of American Sniper. Jesus. What a tool. Why do we worship snipers anyway?

The political representatives and the everyday Joe who says thank you for your service. While that service member vet has to wait 4 months for an eye exam...Hey guys, ceasefire with the rebuttal narrative. If you truly want to help the next generation of war fighters. Start advocating for compulsory military service and speak the truth to the words looser and sucker. Words used by President Trump in a statement when referring to US military personnel. Let there be no misunderstanding. I'm an America first nationalist politically voting retired military. The last 40 years of USA war deaths were for nothing a total shit show of wasted lives. Use your platforms to advocate that all Americans should have a dog in the fight. We, as American patriotic citizens enlisting in the volunteer military, were loosers because this shining option is based on our public educational system. Now we served as winners, and some of us were blessed to exit alive as winners. Suckers are we, the people serving and believing in the task and purpose for these wars were true and patriotic. It was all lies and a uni-party scam. No USA military personnel should have been required to do what was asked of you guys. Think about it all of us as boomers need to admit to how we were suckered you guys and I must make this confession now for us to find away forward and we do this by putting our energy in exposing the lies of the political leaders and representatives that put you and others lives at risk, causing death and destruction for nothing. It will never stop. It will continue until a national debate is had, and compulsory military service will do this. The USA will not vote its way out of this shit show. It will take action short of a civil war or a coup. A military coup by way of compulsory military service will be the less damaging way to go!

I'm speaking only for myself but in the last month or so a lot of information has come out and the typical reaction of a lot of people on the interwebs is an overeaction , fanboys of a person or unit immediately take sides, its just too early to do that. I really hope some of the things ive heard recently aren't true, we'll see. What don't know what's going on behind the scenes, is it true ,is it personal grievances, is it false, it probably lands somewhere in the middle. You don't even have to be military to understand that war is an imperfect chaotic bloody mess. I think most people can agree at this point Kyle was a lying piece of crap, for the rest of the people being talked about recently we need more information and that may take awhile, so just try and be a little patient before automatically talking sides , condemning or exornorating someone. Why is it that when anyone criticizes or offers counterpoints to someone in the public eye, there have to be lazy pseudointellectuals using the "jealous" argument as if it's anything remotely constructive?
Think Channing Tatum is a shit actor? You're just jealous you aren't him.
Think Taylor Swift is overrated? You're just jealous you can't be with her.
Think service members in the public might not be 100% wholesome and free of criticism? Must be jealous.
Literally, the world is not black and white. There is nuance enough for everyone alive, and no one is free from criticism. They say not to meet your heroes in real life for a reason. That reason being that you'll be let down that the real person isn't the conflation you've created in your head based on their public image.

Much respect to the channel and i won't stop watching because of these recent posts, thought I am not enthused about them.
I was all over CENTCOM myself (DOD and contracts) and saw some dumb shit occur occassionally, but I don't know what is being accomplished by airing dirty GWOT laundry.
I talked to a guy who was a pilot in WW2 some years ago who "was there" for some of the hero moments that occurred and the heros of real life never measured up to what they were hyped to be. He wrote a book called the 13th mission.
I was also "there" for some situations where awards were handed out in GWOT and what happened on paper wasn't necessarily what happened in real life. Those situations boosted some guys' careers and they have done some good things for the world with those creds.
I think this is a normal thing, though i am not condoning it. Our society needs heroes now more than ever. No man is perfect and no man lives up to his and others' expectstions. If our community eats itself, a lot of people will sucredo.
One man's take. Keep up the good work here though.

    • @Aaron-ej9ql
      @Aaron-ej9ql 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

Because one of the biggest problems in society is people's perception that organization like the military, police, etc, always cover the flaws, have no accountability, and become propaganda machines all while hiding the dark sides and holding bad actors accountable. Just hailing people as heroes in order to save face for your organization and covering up misdeeds will only further errode trust. Light should be shined on shitty behaviors and there should be accountability, just as much as praising the good actions of public servants. If you hide the bad sides, protect the bad actors with lies, and only show your organization as wholly good, then you've become literal propaganda.
