- Just addressing a few needs before this 1994 Acura Legend LS 6-speed makes starts its final 10k-mile countdown to 600,000 on the original engine, transmission, and clutch. Thanks for coming along!
The 1994 Legend LS Coupe design still holds up to this day. To see one in pristine condition is rare. Great job in taking care of this beautiful car.
Couldn't agree more!
Nothing like a fresh set of tires to make a car feel new again 🙂
Totally!
Tyson thanks for sharing the maintenance costs. This video truly resonates. The $6,030 costs for the major maintenance in 2023 alone makes total sense. I went through this cycle in 2020 and didn’t feel that I had an option to cut any corners as they were all necessary items like yours. I even had to insist on the EGR clean out which the mechanic was resistant to initially but later found a 85% blockage. All thanks to your videos. I appreciate you sharing this level of detail on the legend of THE Acura Legend Coupe.
Absolutely! Gotta be committed to these cars! Thanks for the sharing dedication.
I mentioned it before, when you get to 621,371.19 miles you will have reached 1,000,000 kilometers. Worthy of a mention in a future video.
Def need to keep that number in mind
Great upkeep and record keeping Tyson! Even the most well engineered cars can fall victim to neglectful owners. Hopefully the Legend has many years of enjoyment still to give🥂.
Hope so too!
Awesome dude! I met you when I had my 6 spd legend coupe in socal early 2000's. Miss my acura but I have moved on. Now I own 300zx Twin Turbo, a lexus suv and a Tesla Model Y Performance.
You upgraded big time! Thanks for saying hi!
You are the most organized person. Love the spreadsheet and binders
Haha thank you!
Two timeless Acura designs other than the NSX:
2G Legend
3G TL
6MT is icing on cake.
Definitely!
I've had 5 Honda Legends (except this model) and they have all been fantastic cars 👍
Great cars for sure
What amazes me is how mechanically sound the '94 Legend Coupe is at such high mileage. However, it's no surprise that the car is cared for properly as it should. I hope it gets to a million miles at some point, but we'll have to wait and see!
Thank you!! Yes I still trust this one for any distance!
Back when Acura built cars to last. Love it! I also love how the license plate on your SLX says "rebadge" 😂
Haha of course!
But I won’t be doing any SLX burnouts in front of Shannon’s house. The GM-built transmission would grenade.
That's a good idea, you wouldn't want to get stuck there, her street can get kinda rowdy sometimes.@@TysonHugie
Hard to believe 595K will be 500,000 miles under your ownership!
That’s true!! I didn’t think of it that way
Beauty & loyalty, what more would a guy want.🤩
Agreed!
Tyson, Your Legend LS Coupe couldn't be in better hands, beautiful! I really enjoy your impeccable record keeping. Well done!
Thanks Mark!
If you by any chance might want to get that beautiful coupe to a million miles I’ll be glad to drive it for you 😂😂😂 beautiful car. Still waiting on mine to get out of the shop
Haha thanks!!
i just did that same list to my legend, plus the front lower control. i got the last honda front lower control arms in the country according to acura parts wharehouse. love the videos
Thank you!
Glad to see the maintenance is now up to date, to help provide a safe, trouble-free experience for you.
Absolutely 😀 thanks Tom!
So nice!
I'm a numbers guy so I can appreciate the spreadsheet with all of the maintenance history.
Glad you can relate!
That Legend holds a special place for you. You look after it. She will look after you.
Absolutely!
What a Legend, literally 😁
Haha yes
I never noticed the tank getting brown on my Accord radiator. I'll have to watch for that. I did have one where it developed a catastrophic leak between the core and upper tank while I was driving. Luckily, I caught the temp gauge rising, pulled over, and shut off the car before it got too hot.
I've had my suspension sag about a half inch or so as my strut springs wore out.
Great update!
For sure. I think you’ve mentioned it before but it’s all about knowing your car! Anything unique with sounds, looks, feelings, you start to take note!
Very nice update, Tyson! Did you take it to Honman for the repairs? I’ve sent several Honda people to him because of you 😎
You know it! I'm sure he appreciates the referrals!!
Suggestion for the subwoofer (if you are ok w modded). Remove that old one, get a slimline Kenwood or Alpine and install under the spare wheel, underneath the rear shelf or as I have it, mounted to a piece of wood which in turn is mounted to the brace for the rear seats - roughly where the original bose amp was mounted. Appears stock, but has some good low range bass.
Awesome, I ended up ditching that sub so right now just enjoying audio w/o one
No head hasket ever done?! Wow, and to think that many Legend owners claim the C32 is plagued with the issue due to carbon buildup. It all depends on the owner and maintenance! Awesome car!
Yes this car has had regular carbon cleanouts of the EGR system
Wow that car is beautiful and still in great shape. ACURA FOR LIFE.
Definitely
Beautiful and well kept Legend Tyson, especially considering the mileage 🙌
Thank you!
@@TysonHugie 👍😀
We're on the same maintenance cycle just 460k miles apart. I see what you mean about the difference in maintenance cost when you factor in labor. I applaud your dedication.
Thanks my friend!!
I hope Acura can bring back this design and make it into an EV and of course they can make it longer, higher and wider to comply with the current safety standards.
Maybe they will!
Very impressive that you've kept that spreadsheet that long - ensure you have backups saved "just in case"! Also, might be time to step up your floor jack game - a 3 ton low profile will easily lift up the car from the central jack point on the subframe and rear tow hook which easily gets you on and off jack stands.
For sure, luckily it’s not very often I need to get the car up on all fours like this! Haha
See you at JCCS!
Looking forward to it!
Someone has a 2016 Civic with 544K miles?! That’s wild.
Yes!
At least you will reach 1 million kilometers. BTW I never saw browned radiators on a Legend or other Hondas in Germany. Must be the different climate.
Probably true!
Tyson, you need to get a Quickjack .....
Seriously! I know
What do you think of the ruching of the leather on the door panels? To me it looks like there is something wrong with the application even though it was made that way to look luxurious.
Yep that was the luxury style back then!
I been a fan of this car for a while and you have a great service history but I’m curious on why you went with Detroit axle ball joints? Over moog or something else preferred in the community, assuming oem isn’t available.
Detroit was recommended from another Legend owner
I'm late to the video. lol.... why not KYB shocks? I thought KYB is closer to OE Showa.
I didn’t replace the shocks
The owners of the high mileage '16 Odyssey, '16 Civic and the '19 Fit must do some crazy mileage to have already accumulated that much mileage over such a relatively short space of time. Looks like Honda reliability and build quality is still strong!
I know! I asked about them. One of them is a taxi driver and the other is a courier
@@TysonHugieDo you own this Coupe legend?
please help, im having a hell of a time finding a flywheel, clutch, and flex plate. do you know of any source for these?
Very challenging, I haven’t had to replace mine yet but I know parts are tough to come by. You might want to post on the Acura Legend Owners & Enthusiasts Facebook page.
@@TysonHugie I've looked high and low on the forums, they all say a exedy 08033 but they're not made anymore. I'm wondering if I can use an integra or v6 accord clutch and flex plate and wait for a flywheel to pop up for sale.
Very cool update video on the Legend coupe. Great to see it getting the upkeep work (although I’ll admit that the rear end of the car looks like it’s too jacked up - I’ve gotten accustomed to seeing the sag!). I’ve asked this before, but have you given any further thought to the 600k rollover location?
Not yet! Definitely need to get that planned!
Very good cars ❤❤👍
Yes
Cool.👌🏿😎🌴🌙 I very sure it’ll get to 1 million miles.
Question: is that the sedan coupe that has the vacuum self closing doors?
Does it also have the back passenger windows that can role down?
The coupe has “active door strikers” (that’s what the window sticker calls them) but not the sedan. The coupe also has roll down rear windows.
Do you have a suggestion on how to source the best aftermarket part if oem is not available? I have a 4th gen Nissan Maxima that I tried to order oem parts for and most were no longer available. The suspension components I put in being "oem replacements" were not good and have only lasted about 15k miles. Its so hard to find information on what the oem actually used!
Interesting, yeah aftermarket is always a gamble. Some of this stuff I got from Rock Auto.
You are almost at 1,000,000 kilometers
Sweet!
@@TysonHugie I am only at 511,000 km
What size tires are you running
215-55-16
How is that possible? I have GX470 I pray I can hit 5,000. That legend is gorgeous.
Keep on rolling!
Still on the original clutch, Tyson?
Yes it is!
@@TysonHugie that’s awesome! Such a cream puff that Legend!!
What do you think of the old Acura RL's
I'm a fan, I had a 2000 black if you look back on my channel!
@TysonHugie ok I didn't see that one
Do your own maintenance dude.
More rewarding, both financially and spiritually.
I'm sure it is! Thank you!
@@TysonHugie Well done for looking after it so well. She's a beauty
with all the money you spend on these cars... my god man get some real jacks and stands! lol harbor freight daytonas are amazing
Def!
how often do you change the transmission fluid?
I’ll have to check the spreadsheet. I’d say every 50-60k.
