  • Viewer request for the step by step wiring instructions. The relay shuts off power to the dehumidifier if the pump fails and trips the high water level switch.

Could this relay be powered from the furnace thermostat leads, one of them through the pump, so as to avoid having the separate power supply?

@@stephenkruft5966 yes it could. Low voltage DC from thermostat or even low voltage DC doorbell wiring. And nice to see it is back in stock!

Thank you! This is the only video I could find showing this! I can't for the life of me get the safety switch NO terminal to come off, and I am trying pliers in addition to fingers. Any other trick to this even though yours was easy enough with only fingers? I got the terminal to move a little, the bump is even out of the hole but then will move no further.

The switch can come all the way out if that helps. I think I did that in the condensate pump review video. You may have made it tighter gripping with pliers. I'd try leverage with a flat screwdriver maybe. Worst case add another wire to the last terminal and leave the stuck one.

@@realhouseDIY Thank you! Removing the switch and prying with the screwdriver did the trick. You saved me again! Seems more wobbly on the new terminal, hopefully it's ok.

Hmm everything is hooked up and the dehumidifier is plugged into "Normally On" but when I press the safety switch to test it doesn't turn off. Is the click in your video from the safety switch or the relay clicking? I don't have any click.

@@stevendressler relay clicks and small light turns on on the relay. You could check that the DC power works by just touching the DC wires directly to the DC input on the relay. (Bypass the overflow switch)

@@realhouseDIY Thanks once again! The dc adapter wasn't doing it. Tried another adapter and now it is working. The switch is clicking now, so I assume it only clicks when connected to power.

great video. i have a question what is the purpose of the DC adapter ? can this model be done using only a ''safe T swich over flow switch'' on the water pan connected directly to the relay ? and the plug of the dehumidifier on the ''normally on '' outlet ? thanks

@@adamtp17 no, this relay model requires a low voltage input. There's some benefit to that although not a huge deal for this application. There's likely a relay out there that is just looking for an open vs short.
