      Nate, thanks. I was raised in an area with very few black people. I never really knew one until I started working as an adult. I must admit I was shocked that after getting to know them, I didn't notice they were black. They were people. That was decades ago, and I whole heartedly believe in what Martin Luther King Jr. said in his 'I have a dream' speech.

      As a cis white male, it's my solemn duty to inform you, that you are still ignorant of your cultural sins. As this modern masterpiece so accurately stated, the sins of the father are carried by the son. Nothing you can do can ever absolve you of the original sin of being born with that skin tone. no suntan will even absolve you of this high crime. whether or not your ancestors ever harmed a fly is immaterial, that other people who might have looked like them may have done something cruel like own slaves or kill someone over land, (something every people in the history of the world has done) means that you forever are guilty of those crimes. an ethnic taint of evil which is carried by your skin tone.
      Almost as if, there were an alienable difference between people based upon how they look. not just in thier character, but in their capability and capacity for violence and oppression. Worse still you are male, and therefor as guilty as all the rapists who've ever lived and now are to pay for the sin of all violent crimes ever perpetuated upon women.
      If only there were a word for such a perfect life philosophy as the rings of power has spelled out. Oh right... there is, it appears to be something called "racist", or "fascist"... or even...

      I take your point, but im always a little baffled when folks say that actually this stuff is fashy. Do you think ol benito, the Austrian, or franco, or Codreannu, would have allowed such a thing to exist in their countries? Mocking the ancestors and folk cultures of their own constituents wasnt actually the first thing on these guys' todo list funnily enough.

    • @arizona_anime_fan
      @arizona_anime_fan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@corneliuscapitalinus845 well, it depends how you define fascism.
      If you define it as a reactionary populist zeonophobic, violent, racist idiology, then you're right, this isn't fascist in the least. however this is an incomplete description of fascism (it's a liberal/socialist/french college professor's description of fascism which he then uses to attack anyone right of pol pot). Technically speaking these are aspects of fascism so i can't say they're wrong.
      However there is more to fascism. There is a public-corporate partnership, where private enterprise is directed in action by the state. There is racial superiority (some people are born better/worse). There is the totalitarian aspects, using the instruments of state to persecute your political foes. there is the multi-tiers justice system, earned citizenship for service.
      Listen, fascism at it's core doesn't have to be "white supremacist". In fact the fascist in Italy, Spain. Peru or Argentina weren't particularly "racists" at all. Radically Nationalistic, yes, racist? not really. the racist aspects were mostly unique to german fascism/nazism. Now that's not to say there weren't "others" that the government singled out for persecution in those states. In Spain the Catalonians were suppressed pretty violently, in Peru the socialist and drug dealers (actually everyone involved in the drug trade from the users to the growers) were brutalized, in Argentina... well mostly it was just political opponents who were persecuted, though the fanatical Peronistas and descomunicado did participate in some violence against some of the upper classes.
      because of the variations in the forms of fascism throughout history, we can pair down some aspects of it for clarity.
      1) ultra-nationalistic (this does not mean anti-imegrent or racist, this means pro-country and anti-enemies of the country, to the point of mob violence)
      2) Government Corperate partnership
      3) political violence as a tool of both the state and the supporters
      4) usually Populist in message (not always, Franco wasn't really a populist, nor was Pinoche)
      5) typically an "other" used by the government to blame for failures, or to accuse of sabotage (this can be both racist or classest or simply political enemies, but the use of an OTHER to persicute is guarenteed)
      Now obviously the showrunners of this tripe aren't actual fascist. Though they share many of the same concepts. They're all for bashing the "other" they're not above political violence to get their way, and their side of things has an active public-private partnership going on. They even have a deeply racist message (though they will twist the language and deny this and call it "anti-racist" if you actually read anti-racist scholarship at the heart of "anti-racism" is the belief the only way to balance the scales of historic racism people have suffered, is to be racist to their oppressors (yes, anti-racism means being more racist right back at the people who you think look like people who did you or your group wrong).
      It's odious, and evil, and yes isn't really true fascism because these people loath this country almost as much as they loath white males, but it shares most of the rest of fascism with fascist and since they like to call their foes fascist for no other reason then not agreeing with them, there is a certain childish pleasure i get tossing the insult back at them.

      You guys joke but I haven't felt a single time any forced lgbt or racial thing forced in the 3 episodes. Sure there is a black elf, but he doesnt do anything different than any other elf. Now She-Hulk, that's a joke. They try to hard to make men look like are all bad. Gay characters in movies or shows aren't the problem, the problem is if their only trait is being gay in the show just for the sake of having a gay character in it.

    • @beardofnursing8602
      @beardofnursing8602 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FirionDude It's just a stupid joke. Diversity is not an issue in this show, and despite all the outcry of racism and sexism, I think there's very few people that are actually upset about an elf being black. That being said, I don't like how the elves in this show are sometimes indistinguishable from the race of men. The elves look more like Greek philosophers than the angelic beings we saw in Jackson's films. Imo, they'd look better if they all had the long, flowing hair like Elrond (in the films) or Legolas. I know... kind of a minor detail, but I think they could've done a lot better with making the elves look aesthetically superior to men. Give Arondir some mane, not a fade!! But I digress.
      The show has been ok imo so far. The things I don't like are:
      1) Galadriel: She acts like every other generic female protagonist in the past few years. It's not that she's powerful, it's that she shows how powerful she is by defying and scowling at any man that dares to get in her way or simply gives her advice. It's weird to me that this "girl boss" behavior is lauded, when if you gave a male protagonist these qualities, he would be vilified and seen as a symbol of toxic masculinity. In short, I just don't find myself empathizing with or liking Galadriel.
      2) The very on-the-nose scene representing real-world racism. I don't mind movies or shows having a message, but this is just a slap of modern, real-world politics. Make things a little more subtle if you want to inject politics.
      3) The Harfoots.

    It began with the forging of the great films. Books were given by Tolkien, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Rights were granted to Jackson, great miner and craftsman of the mountain of lore. And nine, nine hours were gifted to the race of men, who above all else, desire quality. But they were all of them deceived, for another show was made. In the land of Amazon, in the fires of Mount Prime, the Dark Lord Bezos forged in secret a master flop. And into this show he poured his money, his greed and his will to dominate all film. One show to ruin them all.

And I have decided that I will primarily eat insects because I want to help the environment! Thank you everyone I appreciate you understanding MY choices.
