       @Xander Lee Yeah I’ve been thinking about doing sth like this for a while (especially now since I can’t play in band and I need to do something with my sax) it’s just finding the time

    Great work, Xander! Excellent and emotional cover of a great tradition. I plan to audition for Bluecoats my freshman or sophomore year of college on Baritone/Euphonium. If I may ask, what editing software do you use?

      First off thanks and good luck on Bluecoats. It was a lot of fun competing against them. And i used shotcut which is a free editing software.

    any mellophone embouchure tips? i switches to mello this season from trumpet and im trying to get a more “mello” sound rather than a trumpety sound.

      Try using a horn mouthpiece instead, it'll give you a much warmer sound.

      Dont change a thing. If you've ever played on a flugelhorn, think that tone and feel. It'll feel like a big spinning ball of air keeping the back of your tongue lower and it will feel like butter coming through the mouthpiece. Also, if youre using a trumpet mouthpiece, switch to a mellophone mouthpiece. NOT a french horn mouthpiece. Mellophone is not a french horn.

      mello player here - think a more rounded sound so like an O sound. open teeth more and think tone like a flugel. also dont blow out on loud notes or high notes.

    So I plan on trying out for DCI once I get old enough and I want to learn how to play mello so I was wondering what Mello you would recommend that isn’t too expensive

    • @xanderlee7488
      @xanderlee7488  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would go for a used yamaha if possible if not king works too. Those are the only mellos i’ve played on besides the 825 ones we’re using this year

      I’m using a $50 Blue snowball. I just invested in a shure sm57 for recording to get more control over my sound for my next upload. Just a bit busy with drum corps season kicking in to gear

    only thing I would say is be as confident in the articulation as the sustain, you were getting a bit of wah wah in the sound, but that can also add to musicality
