This Mitsubishi Outlander has a 2.0 (1998 cc (122 cu in)) 4 Cylinder Petrol naturally aspirated Engine with 150 Ps (110 kW; 148 hp) at 6000 rpm and 195 Nm (144 lbf⋅ft) at 4100-4200 rpm.
It is equipped with a CVT gearbox driving the front wheels.

Really impressive acceleration for an SUV with a naturally aspirated engine. It doesn't have a whole lot of torque, yet it seems to pull its weight along well. This is the advantage of living in countries where the elevation is relatively low. This being Germany I'm assuming it's probably just a couple of hundred meters, not to mention cool temperatures. Here in South Africa, i live around 1600 meters above sea levels, and summer temperatures is almost always 30+ degrees celcius, which isn't optimal for vehicle performance either. At this elevation, many people really shy away from Cars or SUVs still using naturally aspirated engines, because they lose a ton of their power up here and become really sluggish. If this Outlanded does 0 to 100 in 9.3 seconds there, it will probably be around 11 to 12 seconds here. I test drove a 2020 Mazda 2 1.5 N/A with 115 Horsepower a few months ago when buying a new car, and it really felt dead anywhere in the rev range compared to my 2020 Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost that i bought instead, even though it had more Horsepower on paper.
back in the day some car manufacturers such as bmw used to offer bigger engines for the south african market exclusively to deal with the elevation.
elevation isn't such a big deal here in germany as long as you don't live in the areas close to the alps but even there it is not close to some regions in south africa. Temperature wise we do hit the 30+ in the summer as well but that is not a big deal for modern cars, even in the middle east cars aren't given any extra cooling capacity from the manufacturer and have no problems under normal conditions.

@jasonstathoom5142 I have a Outlander phev now.
I had a '09 Q5.
2.0L Quattro petrol engine.
So many problems.. biggest one is the 'gearbox malfunction' issue..
I had 2 fault codes but don't remember which one. It had to do with 2 sensors on top of the gearbox that were €15,- each.. but the gearbox had to be removed etc.. costs around €2500-2700....
You should go for a 2013+ model I believe, these are without the gearbox malfunction issues.
Loved the handling etc but it was not worth it.
I now have a 2016 outlander phev instyle + model, the highest tier with all options.
The amount of money this cost compared to a Audi is such a difference..
But... It's pretty boring to drive, it's too neutral or maybe to good... It cannot give any goosebumps at all..
So I'm looking for a Alfa Romeo Stelvio maybe next year or so.

I have one just like it. Very smooth car, works well on flat highways, but has a hard time going up mountain passes.
The engine is very good but the CVT transmission penalizes it a lot on climbs. Despite everything, I love its finesse and smoothness and at legal speeds the consumption is good for the size of the car.
The comfort is superb. And the trunk capacity is very good.
I changed the lights to xenon because halogens are very outdated.

what exhaust are you using and is it turbo?
I have the same car . 2.0 ccm engine with CVT. For Finnish traffic rules this is more than enough. And average fuel consuption is 8 litres here. It is model 2020 ( decembar ) and i already have 12000 km. I am satified

Oh nice, I've Canadian model, 2.4L 4cyl. is standard here, with 3.0L V6 in option
AWC became standard too
I've 2.4L and it does feel powerful, AWC is a must for our winters
In Germany sadly we only get the 2.0 and the Hybrid version.
This was only the 2WD version, but I can see how the 4WD will be handy in a proper winter.

The amount of car you get for the money with the Outlander is hard to beat.
It handles ok and never felt uncontrollable, but I would clearly prefer a diesel to reduce the fuel consumption.
Is this a cvt?

@@TopSpeedBrothers Cvt is actually good for daily if you live in a big city with traffic. I own one and its super comfortable, that said I also have a sportier car with a manual and its much much more fun ;)
I had a Nissan CVT go out got rid of it but got a newer model and then traded it for the outlander struck out once and succeeded twice gas mileage is great power band is way more powerful than the detractors say it is i pass everything including the gas station zipping around v6 V8 like it's nothing and i look good whilst doing it

@@TopSpeedBrothers - ASX 2.0 4x4 is possible to see here ? I think that is a veri good compromis (SUV. benzine, 150 Hp, 4x4, all day car and not expensive - ASX)
Great video!👌 Mine was also 2.0 engine and sold it last year just because of cvt transmission which was driving me crazy. Not natural changes, high speed on highways was bothering, that sound of cvt😒 a little 1.4 tsi engined vw polo is behind you, asks for lane🤷🏻♂️
its annoying ai agree i think it would be much better if it wasnt trying to fake gearshifts and instead be a super smooth shiftless gearbox
i have a 2015 model with the 240hp v6 and it tops at 210 km/h thanks to the electronic limiter. barely any faster.
but it does get there in like a third of the time.
i think the v6 is the best choice for the car
@@TopSpeedBrothers idk, if prices mean anything, the diesel is by far the more desirable one (due to economy). they held almost double the value here. which is why i bought the v6. can literally run the car till it dies with the difference in price, and using a much more pleasant engine to boot. love the v6
is the 2.0 a diesel cus in canada we got the 2.4 gasoline version and the 3.0 v6
We also get the 2.0 petrol engine or the hybrid but. But the 2.0 petrol is to little engine for to much car, the ringing always has to work a bit to hard and it shows in the fuel consumption. A 2.0 Fidel would make a lot of sense

Totally agree, for such a big car, with "only" 150 hp it moves quite well.
Also for a SUV the car is quite light, which definitely helps
@@TopSpeedBrothers In my country we got the 2.4 version with 200 hp and 227nm torque which is quite fast compared to 2.0. The 2.4 can achieve in about 7 sec 0-60.The police here used it too. I live in Malaysia 😁

The 2.2 diesel is the smarter and better option for this car.

Die blauen Handschuhe machen's nicht besser. Du hast den Wagen nicht im Griff - und das merkt man. Besonders auf der Landstrasse. So eine unsichere Fahrweise habe ich lange nicht mehr gesehen. Tippe auf Anfang 20. Dir sollte man eine Nachschulung angedeihen lassen - brandgefährlich für andere

Had 186 (GPS) max and really miss my old explorer 3.5 - lower fuel consumption on the same speed, faster, bigger and much more silent. Tried a jap car because of parts and servises costs but realized that it is just a car, no charm inside.
