Joe..if you ever get to Virginia Beach Va..make sure you check out their Mount Trashmore. Opened in 1974 it represents landfill reuse at it's best. The park sits on 165 acres of an abandoned trash dump. Many miles of walking trails..has 2 lakes for fishing..many picnic areas and even a 24,000 square ft skate park. It gets 1 million visitors a year...more than any park in the city (and they have a bunch).

G,day from Sydney Australia. Mt Trashmore is concerning with contamination leaching through subsoil down to the river.I don't know how to fix it. "We" started using lining in landfill waste sites and classification of the area as contamination, not for residential or sporting use. The "bad old days" when our engineering was responsible for rubbish removal without thinking about soil ecology and heavy metal!!! 🌏🇦🇺
Thank you for visiting Cedar Rapids. Live in Marion now, but used to live one block up from that Kum & Go, you went right past that street in the construction. You also passed the old Higley Mansion behind that brick wall right before you got to the gas station, it has been added onto and turned onto a care center. Brucemore mansion would be a great place for people to visit as it is open for tours. Imagine all those streets lined with even more trees, the derecho of 2020 caused alot of damage from the 140 MPH winds. For perspective the flood of 2008, just as you went down that hill past the Kum & Go was ALL flooded, the hospital had water just above the ground level and had to transfer patients to the other hospital.

Cedar Rapids looks a gem. I didn't see any homeless encampments, ranting drug addicts, nor graffiti. Im from California and where I live, our weekly crime statistics are equal to what CR sees in a whole year. Even those small homes in "inexpensive" side of town show pride of ownership. I would definitely consider moving there. When you visit Hawaii consider a side trip to beautiful Island of Kauai and take a helicopter tour of Island. It was about$400 (for two)but one of the most amazing experiences in my life. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful of all the Islands.

I remember going to a home show type thing and hobby shows and they had dances and concerts there, also the shrine circus, 4th of July fireworks of course memorial Day events they have a lot of cool civil war stuff and displays
Awsome share for memorial weekend great start to your video
local food review is a great addition to the adventure
we need more 🎉
Joe, you ask 'what do we think'? Same answer from me with all your's & Nicoles vids..'total awesomeness' Loved the honorable placing of the unnamed soldier tribute. The most peculiar part of the vid- Burger with blueberries & Cheese cake with Captain Crunch..I'd try 100%.
The Kum'n Go bag/store..it's a wink wink kind of name lol. Safe travels & we'll catch ya'all next wk. Cheers!
Grew up in this city, don't recall any of this, really just remember the mall I went too in the 90's (34 as well) already lost my father.
I hope he appreciates you
Thanks for the tour. Plants love the decaying trash and over time the hill will drop as the trash decays.
That's the prettiest trash pile I've ever laid eyes on! Your son will love that bag. I can only imagine the jokes it will bring on! Cedar Rapids is so pretty. I love the history you told about it and especially the American Gothic Painting. Joe, that certainly was a different kind of burger! Dessert looked great and different! Thanks.
Thank you. You did your usual great job. This time My natuve Iowa. The war memorial must have something to honor the Sullivan Brothers who were heroes from not too far from here. Proud of My Iowa friends and Kin.
How awesome! I learned a lot about my city through you! What a fun video. Thank you for visiting! If you are even more curious about Grant Wood, he was born in Anamosa, not entirely far from Cedar Rapids, and painted the little town of Stone City, where he also spent some time. Apparently he is buried in Anamosa. Stone city is a gorgeous little place. If you ever come through here again I highly suggest it. Safe travels
I've been traveling in the States by your youtube vídeos ! I love your informations, and quality of filming is pretty awesome.
Note that the neighborhood at 17:00 doesn't have any curbside mailboxes. The mail carriers have to trudge to each house, including during winter.
Basketball 🏀 sensation Caitlin Clark generated some major buzz for Iowa which usually only gets attention for its first in the nation caucus in Presidential election cycles.
Kum & Go with lots of pumps... great description!
And clean restrooms
Hawaii...happy wife, happy life. Glad you liked Cedar Rapids...I didn't back in '15.
You two are gonna "love" Hawaii!
Your going all the way to Hawaii. The sacrifices you make for us. 😅

Hey you both... My partner and I watch your videos almost daily, or as much as you upload em. We just finished this one and you mention coming back to the East Coast after Hawaii...
Please give Portland, Maine another shot. The last time you were here it was rainy and you missed a lot of really awesome stuff. From John Calvin Stevens homes, to Revolutionary war forts, to a haunted hotel, High Roller Lobster Co... and more...
That city looks very clean. Great view
Love your videos!! Keep it up.
Thank you! Will do!
North east Iowa is in the unglaciated Driftless region (also in Wisconsin Minnesota Illinois) like a min Appalachia the size of West Virginia. I recommend Decorah, Viroqua lacrosse Dubuque Madison etc
Keep your eyes peeled for those tornados going through that area, stay safe!😊
As always a great video. I need to go to Cedar Rapids, and looking at mount trashmore, The wonderful architecture, and that restaurant looked amazing, I love goat cheese on my burgers (although I like them cooked more like your wife does) as well as jalapenos and something either like grilled onions roasted red peppers or maybe a fruit compote of some, sort so this is totally up my alley. Great tip, I'll be going there.
Awesome!
I’ve been to the western part of Iowa(Sioux City…etc), but I’ve never been to that part. I’ve read good things about the cities there like Des Moines…etc. I’ve heard it’s great place to live. The only negatives are bitter-cold winters and devastating tornadoes. Rock on!
Always enjoy your videos. The food prices are quite alarming at times.
That glass window is awesomely gorgeous
Thanks, looks like a great place VA Clinic in town, VA hospital in Iowa City 31 minutes away (27 miles). Been to Hawaii once on military charter to Saigon 1968. It was 5am pitch black, we stayed about 15 minutes I guess. Hope Nic enjoyed it. Love her input on the videos. ❤
Am glad you came to Iowa, once again. Liked to see C Rapids. There a long time ago. You could come to Davenport and see mighty Mississippi River! Also, like to telling of Eldon, Iowa. Was there, too.
Dessert and food look very tasty!
I saw graffiti on one building in the video.
I live here and theres definitely homeless and drug addicts on the streets lol
There is a lot of commissioned "Graffiti" art, that seemed to put a stop to almost all of it.
@@gregoryleo4640 That was on what used to be the old Dragon Restaurant turned bar when they retired, thats why the oriental themed "awning" above the door and damaged brick from the cool large neon dragon that was the old sign on the corner of the building.
The winters keep the homeless out of Iowa. The summers aren't for the faint of heart either.
Crunchberries are cool, so are you guys and Cedar Rapids!
Hope all is well for everyone 😊❤
Looks like a very nice and clean city and lovely homes 👍
