Film yourself getting up in the morning, brush your teeth, get dressed, eat, feed the dog, get in your car, drive to a shoot house, narrate the walk inside, then drop your helmet on the floor and tell us about it. It would be so artistic.
Helmet setups are easily the most expensive part of setting up a kit. My rifle, handgun, plate carrier and everything in/on it, pack and its contents, boots, and every other part on my kit togeather don't even come close to costing the same amount as my helmet and what is attached to it if its night time lol.
I run a SOHAH, or a converted CVC helmet. You can sometimes find them for a good deal. They're ballistic high cuts, that arent gonna cost you like a high end helmet will. I put team wendy pads in mine and it works well
My favorite thing about a high cut is the ear pro being on the rails, besides being super comfortable it also makes the helmet very stable. Extra protection slaps though, I just thought I would chime in my 2cents. lol
Another nice use for the bump helmet on the civilian side is like a SAR mission or post natural disaster clean up. A lot of trip hazards to protect yourself from, and it’s nice to have a light mounted on your lid so you can keep your hands free.
My reason for choosing a bump helmet over ballistic... I'm a vet that wore a ballustic long enough to have neck issues. So its either bump & I can move my head or ballistic & I move like Keaton's Batman.
Bro I am a nobody but was wild as a young man and in the same boat. Most the dudes I like to watch say essentially the same thing "if you're wearing armor you should wear a ballistic" but I just can't. I have been trying hard but recently got a bump and it is worth it. Gotta work with what we got lol.
Opscore AMP arm hack, Mickey Mouse them, then rotate them forward a bit, then press in so the edge of the pad hits the lip of the helmet. Can still hear comms, don't look like you just left Disney.
Broke Ops-Core RAC just opening and closing it before I even used them but they wouldn’t warranty them at all. I’ll never buy Ops-Core again and I own way too much of their crap.
What is your preferred way to run your earpro. I currently have the Amps on the amparms. I like them but I can see the advantage to the other system where you can just pop them out off your ears. I think I'm going to try to wear the earpro on the regular headband under my helmet so I still have earpro if I remove my helmet. Thanks, Love your content
Great video, full of valuable information. One question : I've read here and there that the Peltor mount would loose some tension after use preventing the earpro to correctly sit on the ears ? Have you experienced that ? Unity Mark could be an option as well but it's impossible to have this "intermediary" position you showed with the Peltor.
I have heard of that however it is not something I experienced personally. Just like anything overtime there will be natural wear, however mine lasted for years before switching to the opscore mounts. Might even switch back to be honest
Surprised your not using the unity tactical adapter for your AMP's. It lets you use the AMP on your helmet using the peltor mounting system so you can pop them out without the wings flying in the air like to ops core mounting arms. That's what I would use if I mounted my earpro and comms to my helmet. I just use mine with the neck band so I can take my helmet off and still have comms/earpro on me.
What can be done to get a good cheek weld but not hear the plastic on plastic from the stock of the rifle and the earpro? Ive looked at putting the Dynamic Fuzz on the ear pro to cushion the noise but am always looking for better ideas?
So I've purchased the HHV ballistic helmet and not a 1200 dollar helmet. From what i've researched the helmet is suppose to stop hefty handgun rounds and I have seen glanced rifle rounds not make it through. Did I make a good purchase or should I look for a different helmet and subsidize the purchase of a better one with the money that I make selling what i have?
I would. They’re good for larping and whatever training you’re going to do. And advanced night vision is legit. Bought a few things from them in the past.
Opted to go with the Hard Head Veterans Ballistic ATE and it has been great thus far. . Something that really needs to be preached is tinkering with your helmet so you are familiar with every inch of it!
Along with learning how to properly adjust your helmet straps. Fitment is everything. Also spend the money on nice pads of various sizes to further improve fit... thus helping out once NODS get tossed...it'll also help reduce hot spots too.
I’m curious if the poly is an issue how is the Chinese stuff bad? Few Chinese offerings that are actually pretty good.. the poly stuff costing so much and failing like that is straight up bs
I am a poor so I've been running the HHV helmet but it has been very comfortable for the last 3 years i have run it and i have hundreds of hours under it.
Don't take Cialis before training w/ gorgeous woman present. Had a 60-year-old man (give or take a few years) running on the lane's w/ a boner for about 2 hrs. not even joking. For any helmet, I add 'ultra fine wire meshing atop the helmet and cover it with a rubberized glass infused coating. Inside the helmet I just use an old kevlar insert and cut to size. Can craft your own custom size it rather easily etc. I know it's not much but that added layer of protection will prevent back face deformation IOT keep you in the fight. Cheers! ~H
I’ll be honest, I don’t see the need for ballistic protection. If SHTF everyone’s using rifles and they don’t stop rifle rounds. Save the money, grab a bump and stay away from gun fights
Im paying for that increased chance for round deflection and shrapnel defense. During Force on force exercises with sims ive noticed that the head is often the only target exposed when people are using cover correctly, and so it got nailed often. Especially when you have the high ground. Granted i got my helmet for a steal of a price. But otherwise i agree with you.
There’s many cases of level III helmets (specifically ops core) that have stopped rifle rounds. Mostly on deflects and whatnot. And even then some helmets (such as the ops core XR) are rated for rifle rounds though they are a bit heavy. Take that info as you will.
Film yourself getting up in the morning, brush your teeth, get dressed, eat, feed the dog, get in your car, drive to a shoot house, narrate the walk inside, then drop your helmet on the floor and tell us about it. It would be so artistic.

@@barrelandhatchetI was gonna say that sounds like a Trex/ Dirty civ thing to do

Facts.
I use a ACH and sent it in to get it cut into a high cut.

Same got a highcut for 250 bucks the last hour of a gun show last two he had with a new team wendy h harness with it
4D Tactical makes great pad setups. And you can get the Team Wendy "Boa" suspension to work in an Opscore or other brands. All day, all night comfort.
A great budget option is high cut conversions on older issued ballistic helmets. Literally everything fits an ACH, can't go wrong with one
PASGT poor here. Nice episode! Maybe I'll go to a fancy high speed helmet eventually, but for 80 bucks, I can live with in-ear protection and comms.

Gibbous Outfitters makes an adapter for the Ops Core Amp arms to address the weak point attaching to the rail.
Wheel weights are great counter weights. They come in strips and have a sticky backer. Any tire store or auto parts store has them
Why add weight when you can just place stuff you want to carry as counterbalance?
Sometimes you need that little extra and these weights he's recommended work great, I use them too.
Thanks guys good info! I have to move from a bump helmet to a ballistics next year for jumping (moving away from bump helmets).
Read the directions for the ops core amps. You’re supposed to put them on the rails to allow air
Opscore AMP arm hack, Mickey Mouse them, then rotate them forward a bit, then press in so the edge of the pad hits the lip of the helmet. Can still hear comms, don't look like you just left Disney.
I run a PGD-ARCH Gen 3. No issues so far, great padding, and is the same price as the HHV ATE ($550) but is NOT made in China
I would never get a bump helmet, just get a ballistic and train to it like you do anything in life.
Hey dude to passively cool your ears with opscore arms just raise them up a bit so they’re on your helmets ear cuts but still hang over your ears
Broke Ops-Core RAC just opening and closing it before I even used them but they wouldn’t warranty them at all.
I’ll never buy Ops-Core again and I own way too much of their crap.

I run ops core high cut, but for training, I use the ops core carbon fiber… save some weight, but actually prefer my ballistic helmet.
The ops core is very nice
Gonna mention TW failing the back face test but silence in Ops Core having HORRIBLE back face deformation….
wheel balancing weights work great

you know its florida when those cicadas can be heard everywhere

I'd go with an ops core or Wendy.
When you say “cavitation” I think you mean “back face deformation”
Good video though. 🤙
the tracer tactical nvg head harness with boonie cap mod is another option
Excellent video!
Thank you.
I would like to know more about guard dog ballistic helmets.
Advanced night vision appears to only stock photonis gen 2+ tubes. Do you guys recommend those?
I would. They’re good for larping and whatever training you’re going to do. And advanced night vision is legit. Bought a few things from them in the past.
just get gen3 with a good warranty
I know what that paper says because I have the same paper here in my operations room.

@@tylergarrett4498please explain further. I was looking at buying HHV. I thought they were entirely made in house in Texas?

They make their ATE Lite in TX 🇺🇸the ATE HHV is imported aka made in 🇨🇳
Theres about $400 difference in price between the two

Polyethylene helmets suck. Yeah it'll stop a round (which helmets aren't really for) but the back face deformation will be a big oof on your skull.

“Stay away from gun fights” I’m sure that’s why people conceal carry too. Because I trust my ability to stay away from dangerous situations/gunfights
Starts bleeding out from a .22 “hmmm if only I didn’t believe my own stupid ideas”…
Yea, I'll never use stuff with a girls name like "team Wendy", sounds like a trans squad from reddit.
