I just went back and watched this movie and shrek about a month ago. Turns out a lot of those older animated movies do more than hold up lol. Their even better than I remember.

The first one was great. The second one is the best. The third is okay. I feel like the last one started to feel like a generic animated kids' movie, but it was still entertaining from what I remember.
I loved all 5 movies. From 3 I loved the entire dinosaur thing and Sid becoming a mom xd 4rth introduced one of the greatest characters, Sid's granny, besides finding a mate for Diego which is so cool imo :D The ICE AGE saga evolves so well finding new and fun villains and problems to display for a wide audience- Many people don't like change and that's why I believe some fans didn't like how 4 and 5 deviated from the first 3, but in my opinion all 5 hold up pretty damn well ^^

If Shifu didn’t send a messenger to double everything at the prison, then Tai Lung wouldn’t have gotten the feather to unlock his pressure point prison. Also, throughout Tai Lung’s escape, he constantly uses weapons and tools to help him escape when they were meant to stop him. He used the cross bow bolts to break his chains and get him to higher ground. He used the elevator to protect himself from the millions of arrows from above and used the chain on the “elevator” to swing himself even further up. He used the guards weapons to hurt them, and used the explosives to bust through the last of the guards.
Kung Fu Panda (series) is one of my all time favorite. Its just so pure and honest. These movies show how a panda finally started living his destiny. And how every new skill that takes decades to learn for others takes him no time, because he is built for it. And the hero is very unassuming. he is quirky and different and he challenges the standards. I could probably write a whole thesis on just these 3 movies.
This movie is legendary! I always get so impressed by the amount of production and attention to detail put into the Kung Fu Panda saga, the amount of love egraved into each of the characters, the script, the soundtrack, the story, the animations, is truly mesmerizing. That's why the 3 movies are some of my all time favorite animated movies, probably my all time favorite Dreamworks movies- ♡
Fun fact: If you look at the movies backwards, they tell you the story about how the solar system was created (5th movie), then how the continents on earth were also created/formed (4th movie), then the dinosaurs appeared (3rd movie), then the ice age (2nd movie) and finally the era of men (1st movie)

The end of the dumpling training montage fight, him saying "I'm not hungry" holds a lot of meaning if you keep in mind that he eats when he is upset...throughout his life, he was always hungry, until that moment

As good as this movie is, I'd say the sequel is far better than the first, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with some of the things you mentioned in this one. I'll be looking forward to more of this series
The only Kung Fu Panda movie I watched completely was the third one. I watched the second but never saw the ending and I watched the first one only up until Po got chosen to be the dragon warrior.
Dude i hace recently rewatched this movie with my bf ( it also was his first time to watch it) AND IT REALLY AGED WELL!!! I was really impressed. I still considered that there were an excesive amount of jokes regarding to Po's body, and it bother me a little as a grownup, maybe a little fatphobic may be considered today. I have not del with any health issues regarding to eating disorders, at least properly diagnosed, so it made me a little uncomfortable that part of the joke was that because of that he couldn't do something. I know it's a bigger conversation, justo my opinion But the second gets so much better in that aspect!!! The first one Is the OG 😘👌chef's kiss I love Jack Black's acting!!! Still haven't watched the third one but looking foward to it!

The animation in this series is so satisfying! Like the Kung fu and stuff and the sound effects 😩😩 so good
