i feel like this movie did flop in theater but the reruns were on disney a few times a week for what felt like for ever so it got its view count

@@lizaharris5026 It certainly would! If you listen to Yzma's song (you can find it on TH-cam) you'll see she would be another epic villain, like Scar or Ursula.
Oh...huh. Hmm...well, so much for my hoping that the inevitable remake would be a straight-up Kingdom of the Sun. If it does happen, here's to _also_ hoping they'll change that motivation.
@@lizaharris5026 Nah. That film idea was all over the place. This movie was paced great, had great comedic timing, and great character development without that convoluted plot.

But it is absolutely not good. Had to stop watching after half an hour because it was just too bad.
Sometimes no sequel would have been better

The best joke in this movie for me? When Kronk 'repeats' the dish list after replacing the chef in the cafe. And his serious face in this scene!
Omg same I will never get over how they never made a ride like the laboratory I can’t it would be so fun and they would then get a ton of new Emperors new groove themed stuff around it which I would adore.
What would happen at the end? xD

The original script for this film (then called "Kingdom of the Sun") was barely a comedy script as it was more of a straight-up epic adventure/quest film. Sort of like Moana or Raya & the Last Dragon. It was a very different movie but Yzma's design is pretty much unchanged from that & Eartha Kitt was always going to voice her. But Yzma's villianous plan in the initial vision for the story was to literally destroy sun so it would stop aging her skin lol! So nice catch in noticing the sickly pale skin in her design as something that stands out on her, it had been an intentional & plot-related aspect of her design at one point!
I wouldn't change this film for the world, I love what it became. But I do wish the original script could be reworked and made into a film anyway. It looked like it had some amazing story to tell. But a lot of time & money infamously went down the drain before the overhaul in the plot and the switch in tone; it was too stuffed and complicated apparently. Also, Sting had written a soundtrack of amazing epic-scale numbers for the film and this version has some of his music but it's only a ghost of the soundtrack he had made before, by all accounts. There is a recording of Eartha Kitt doing Yzma's villain song from the original script floating around on youtube, if you are curious about 'what could've been'. It's called "Snuff Out the Light" & the late Ms. Kitt kills it, of course!

There is a theory that Yzma killed Kuzco's father to take the throne but when the throne was given to his son instead she was placed as his advisor to raise him to rule
The english version is awesome, but Brazilian one is BRILLIANT
Russian version is great too!
Fun Fact: you're not actually wrong in saying Kosco! Kuzco, of course, comes from Cuzco the capital of the Inca Empire BUT Qosqo is a valid way to pronounce it in quechua(especially in the south)

THANK YOU! He was too busy focusing on the physical appearances of ANIMATED CHARACTERS and trying to make his own stupid jokes. The whole time! Nothing but "she's pale", "they're too skinny", "what's with her lashes?", "what's that on his head?", "he's ugly", "she's an 8". It was soooo cringe. Worst sense of humor I think I've ever seen, and zero ability to focus. He has no business doing any kind of reactions.

An absolute classic with amazing comedy, and as many people have said already, VERY underrated. As it is one of my favorite animated films so far, I'm quite happy you enjoyed it as much as you did ^^
