Lyke Wake Walk Day 1, Cleveland Hills and Moors, Cleveland way, long distance hiking

In this video I take you on day 1 of the Lyke Wake walk. The walk is a 67Km route crossing the entirety of the North Yorkshire Moors at its broadest point, the walk can be done in either direction but normally traversed west to east. The challenge is to complete the walk in under 24 hours but we opted to complete the walk in two parts mainly due to many sections of the walk now being overgrown and difficult to navigate. We start at the official starting point in Cod Beck car park which is just north of Osmotherly (Grid Ref SE 469, 993) and make our way onto the Cleveland way. We take in views from Round Hill (NZ 505, 013), Gold Hill (NZ 509 014) and Carlton Moor (NZ 519, 026) before visiting the Lordstones Café (NZ 524, 030) for some Refreshments. After the Cafe we head back onto the Cleveland way and work our way up to Cringle Moor ( NZ 532, 033), Cold Moor (NZ 551, 034), Wainstones Hill which features the Lord Stones Rock Formation and dinosaur rock (NZ 559, 036), White Hill (NZ 566, 037), Round Hill (NZ 594, 015) and then onto Bloworth Crossing where we follow the Dismantled Railway (Formerly the Farndale Railway) for 9km where we finally turn left onto the main road and end our day at the Lion Inn at Blakey.
