One of the scariest parts of this movie is how fast Finney’s abduction was ….we all think how we would get away from a kidnapper etc but in reality I counted from the time that he actually grabbed Finney to when he was in the van it was 16 seconds ! He needed only 16 seconds of no one else around or playing close attention and he was taken …I think it’s naive to think that all kidnappers are at random when some are very prepared and kno what they are doing and will be 2 steps ahead

But a in the moment I was too scared I was just shocked but I had to run. So ran as fast as I can while the guy went started to run towards me then he turned around & went into his van to drive & look for me. I got home safely!

What makes the grabber's defeat so satisfying is because he kidnapped the wrong kid. The one kid who would stop him once and for all. Not only Finn showed no fear during his fight against the grabber, he freaking beat the crap out of him a few times, and then prepares to kill him with the phone's wire, and to make it more satisfying, the ghosts of the dead kids decide to call and go savage on the grabber before finn does finally kills him. Just the look on the grabber's face while he hears his past victims is just so good, it was that moment he realized that his victims were responsible for helping Finn 😊

One of my favorite movies so far! Wanted to (slightly) give more info on the "Naughty Boy" game. The Grabber baited the boys upstairs by leaving the door unlocked so he could beat them, in a way to fully control and break them. Some viewers and readers of the short story have said that it might even be a connection to possible abuse that he might've suffered as a child. After he beat them into submission (or until they passed out, as Billy stated), he'd torture them with SA and cutting with a knife until he finally stabbed them to death, or they bled out (like Griffin from his throat wound). Even though it wasn't blatantly stated in the film, the filmmakers did confirm that it was part of his 'game'. Also: The Grabber character had some inspiration taken from Gacy. Some things were changed like The Grabber being a part-time magician whereas Gacy was a clown, their physique, and a few other characteristics. Hope you guys find this a bit insightful!

To be honest, I liked the fact that we didn't get answers to all our questions. Why did the killer do what he did, how does the psychic thing work, etc. I remember sitting in the cinema and asking myself all these questions, because usually I like "clever" movies and demand solutions. But this time I came to the conclusion that it's totally fine to have some unresolved mysteries. To think and guess, but never really know. Not all movies have to be clever - some are just fun. This was one of them.

personally i feel they did that intentionally to give off that feeling of a Pyrrhic victory, as normally when cases like this happens its great that they catch the killer, but usually leaves a lot of open ended questions leaving a bit of a hollow feeling wanting to know more or why, may not be right but thats just what i thought :v

  • @shannyd1

This movie creeped me out bigtime and made me so scared the whole time. Especially being a mother. Also guys it's not confirmed why the Grabber is broken. Whether it was due to his own child abuse OR if he had a normal childhood & still ended up broken (Which is even scarier, when you think about it). It's not confirmed because like Ethan Hawke said himself, "because it doesn't matter why he's broken, what matters is he IS broken."
The movie shows the Grabber was a sick paedophile that murders his victims after they play his "naughty boy" game. They made a few subtle signs to show what he was, hence why he's shirtless while waiting with his belt, & why a boy mentions the Grabbers "favourite" part of naughty boy comes after the beating.
Also actually the Grabber did pick certain types of kids. The Grabber only picks boys and notice how they all have long hair, that he can play with.😖 Hope this helps you get what the grabber was about & that he had no intention of letting any boys live & the games over.

This movie was honestly my fav movie of the year (and it came out on my birthday). From the moment Robin called Finn, until the dad reunited with the Finn and Gwen, I was crying. Finn got out not only for himself, but for his sister, friend, all the dead kids, and kids that were already alive because if it wasn’t for him, the grabber would still have killed kids. This movie made me really emotional. I loved Robin and loved how he was Finn’s only friend. It makes me sad to think that his only friend died. I had 2 predictions (before Robin got kidnapped), I thought either Robin would get kidnapped and then Finn would and have to defend for himself, or Robin was the son of the grabber. I’m glad Robin was actually a good friend.
I did notice though… at the end of the movie when Finn walks out of the house and Gwen sees him, the black van is literally in the driveway. So I’m surprised Gwen or the detectives didn’t even notice the van. I loved this movie a lot to be honest. My personal fav move of the year.

So there are so many things about this movie that can be theorized and unpacked. Finn did not know but he also had abilities whereas his sister had visions but he could communicate with the dead. His abilities were awoken when he was put in a situation where he had to fight for his life which makes the movie so much more interesting because you think of what happened to him as his trigger in a sense. It was unfortunate but it still saved him. Now, with Gwen I love how Gwen’s visions did not lead her and the cops straight to Finn. It is almost like Gwen’s visions KNEW he was going to be OKAY ( in which he defeated the grabber) and focused mainly on FINDING THE CHILDREN who were unalived by the grabber. This is what I found so fascinating about the movie and when you think about it everyone knows psychic visions are VALID but not always 100% accurate. That is something you hear commonly because visions always change according to predicaments and situations around the vision. The future is never SET in stone remember? I feel like Gwen wanting to find Finn was focused so much on her because that is her brother and what the movie wanted to depict about a healthy sibling bond however her gift is a gift which is for doing the GREATER GOOD. In this case, it was not about finding Finn it was about leading her to the children that the cops could not solve themselves. This also made enough room for the audience to understand that her vision with this case was to help those parents looking for their kids get CLOSURE they deserved period. When you think about it, it really takes a moment for you to be like oh woww. I just really appreciated how instead of leading her to Finn it led her across the street. I feel like they wanted the movie to also have more realistic elements to it because I mean even in real life (apart from abductions) psychics do exist and vision error is a thing but sometimes it is the best kind of error. If Gwen only found Finn then where would that closure be for the families who wanted to desperately find and know the whereabouts of their lost children. Lastly, when it comes to the dad, I wanted to add as a psych major and from comments I read about this movie … I came up with a minor theory. Many people believed the dad was not abusive just to be abusive but because he wanted to SAVE Gwen from the same fate her mom ended up in. I still do not believe in beating kids nor do I believe that he was the best father (alcoholic parents always a no-no) however one may truly speculate MAYBE he was doing the best thing for her which we know that is what HE THOUGHT but Gwen still has a gift regardless and it helped her solve these heinous crimes . I thought about something I have learned in previous psych classes something called reinforcement and punishers. Essentially, a reinforcer is a consequence that increases a behavior to happen more in the future and in contrast a PUNISHER is a consequence that makes a behavior less likely in the future. In this case I figured the “ punisher “ was when the dad did beat Gwen and made her say ALOUD that her dreams are just dreams which were associated with the pain of the belt and her distress from being beat so every time she’d think about following along with her “dreams” she’d remember her consequences for doing so . There’s so many more takes on that situation though

Hi, so i dont think that the dad is abusive because beating is a "normal" thing, tho i dont condone it, but it often happened in the 70s too i think! Also he isn't abusive because he doesn't beat them all the time for every little thing they do wrong or juat for wanting to beat them. Tbh if i got in trouble with cops my parents would wanna beat me too! Also, just little things like the house being relatively clean, the kids having everything they need, the father occasionally telling them he loves them and stuff like that hint that he might not be abusive! :) Even the fact that the kids would look after him might hint that! :))

I won't give anything away in case you haven't watched it yet but parts of this reminded me vaguely of The Lovely Bones. I know it's been on polls for the channel before so I hope you can react to it eventually. I really enjoyed the way they incorporated the supernatural elements. And the story was great. I wasn't sure what to expect going in but it was more emotional than I thought it would be. 💕
Love Mindhunter btw! I believe the Grabber was inspired by John Wayne Gacy, at least loosely.

I’m not condoning the dad’s actions but I think a lot of his aggression stems from an undiagnosed mental disorder. It’s highly likely that he has PTSD based on the time period, because he could have been in the Vietnam War and from his wife dying the way she did. I’ve seen others say this as well.

Yeah there’s no great answer because we don’t want eugenics, but the fact that there is zero barrier to becoming a parent, like it’s easier than getting a license or literally anything else in the world, is horrifying. Social care these days also tries to leave kids with parents unless they are basically murderous, kids get left with drug addicts and abusers every day because we have no better options… meanwhile there are so many barriers to adoption, etc… it’s just so sad.

I was genuinely surprised by this movie! I went into not expecting much, I mean the name title is kind of lame, it sounds like one of those horror movies that’s for teens like One Missed Call and a few others that aren’t scary in the slightest!
I think it was completely intentional to leave the Grabber vague, your not suppose to know his motivation, it keeps him far more creepy and honestly more real. He feels like a real kids serial killer! All his masks were so creepy and I loved that it was always a different one, it all depended on the mood he was in, it helped us viewer see that without him having to tell us. But it was so good from start to finish, I like that they didn’t have him get abducted right away, they took time for us to get to know him, his sister and some of the dead boys some more fleshed out then others but again is creepy to think how many times has he done this and it’s so unsettling how fast he abducts him! The kids not forgiving their father was perfect! He might be changing now but it doesn’t take away years of abuse, it’s going to take a lot more then a little sorry and cry. I don’t think I would classify this as a horror but more of a really intense thriller but I will say I did jump when that first dead kid appeared behind him and I don’t jump easy. And seeing those kids being bloody and like the one that’s just hanging was so disturbing!

I love this movie it's one of my favorite supernatural horror films there talking about making a part 2. I can really relate to the sister Gwen so much trying to help her brother by using her gift because I have a gift to and it's scary but very helpful I'll do anything and everything for my brother also my dad is a ass not a drunk but a ass and mom is still alive but she is the sweetest human being but I connect with the siblings bond and the having a gift to see things a lot of times spirits just want justice

Sometimes knowing the name of the victims gets them off. I think that’s why he reads the papers. Just like how he likes to beat them. It’s his style and it’s all about what he gets from knowing and doing these things. I wouldn’t give them my name either.

I think that it was a great stylistic choice to not disclose any background on Ethan Hawke's character. If a child is kidnapped, the kidnapper will not have a therapy session and explain to them why he is like he is. The child would be terrified and never understand why this was happening to them? We saw the kidnapper as the children did - no rhyme or reason - just terror and confusion.

The mom had the powers to see, talk and hear the dead. However, she couldn't control her powers and people were telling her she is crazy along with her husband. So the mom kxlled herself. The "gifts" pass down to her children with Gwen seeing the dead and Finney can talk and hear the dead. The father became an alcoholic to mourn his wife's death. He try to tell Gwen her dreams aren't real because he fear Gwen wouldn't be able to control her power like her mom couldn't and Gwen would kxll herself as well
*Ps: Ethan Hawke was inspired by the 1970s serial killers like John Wayne Gacy and their disgusting acts on children*

This is a short story originally written by joe hill who is Stephan Kings son. So if you’re a fan of his books the supernatural part isn’t too far off.

Thanks guys for this reaction. The only movies that put me on edge are abduction movies since you know that it can happen and the reality is that in most cases it doesn't have a good end so from the start you are on the edge of your seat and root for the main character to somehow get out :(
If you would consider doing another film with the topic of abduction I recomend 'Lovely Bones' if you haven't seen it ofc. Its from 2009 with Saoirse Ronan starring in it and..it tough. But yeah, thanks for reaction and see guys in other videos :)

I had a dream my mom was being attacked. I called home to make sure they were ok. I was going to go home that night but didn’t. The next morning came and my mom was attacked by her husband. I went home that afternoon and that’s when I saw my mom and found out. I told her I had a dream that’s why I called and why I came home. She’s blind in one eye now. Her vision wasn’t perfect to begin with so her vision is quite bad. If you have dreams follow through with them. This is the third time I had a dream of something that came true.

To answer your question to why Bruce always says. your arm is mint. Think of it as a Golden Foot. But instead of a foot it’s the arm. Golden Arm is a better explanation. It means his arm is absolutely fucking powerful. He was also ofc one of the kids who knew he will kill the grabber. it was all connected. Griffin, Bruce, Vance, and Max all tried to help him escape the way they all tried. But after knowing that the grabber probably wouldn’t fall for the same tricks. They all called in order. It’s supposed to be griffin who calls first.. Because he was the first victim. But Bruce was the first and that is not a coincidence. It’s also the most simple way of making a trap. and i feel like finn should’ve known that after max pointed to the vent window… The lines that they repeat is the Grudge they have for The Grabber. It’s not because he killed them. But because of what he did to them. He not only killed them but he “took his time with him” Which means… He was basically sexually abusing/assaulting them before killing them off that’s what vance meant by “He took his time with me too”. He’s basically some Gay Pedophile Murderer. Naughty boy was the game. The second part where griffin said it was the grabber’s favorite part. Which probably means he will sexually abuse them and kill them. He does this to the kids because he had an abusive father who beat him up on the same basement. The difference is He is now kidnapping, sexually assaulting and killing them instead of just actually abusing them like what his dad did.
