- In Australia, the presence of wild boar, commonly referred to as feral pigs, poses significant challenges to the farming community, resulting in multifaceted impacts on agricultural productivity. These animals, due to their invasive nature, disrupt farmland through rooting and wallowing, leading to soil erosion, damage to crops, and the destruction of native vegetation.

Overall, this documentary provides a compelling glimpse into the daily struggles faced by Australian farmers as they contend with invasive species, showcasing their determination to protect their land and way of life. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against environmental threats and the importance of proactive measures in preserving agricultural sustainability.
Thank you, Where do you have to deal with wild boars?
The simplicity of farm life is so refreshing.

farmers can work towards effectively managing wild boar populations while minimizing negative impacts on agriculture and the environment.
Fantastic video, spot on

It would be interesting to see how Australian farmers are adapting their strategies to control and mitigate the impact of these wild boars. Are they using fencing, dogs, or perhaps more advanced methods like drones for surveillance?
Strong, sturdy fencing is a common method to keep boars out of fields.
Nice sharing ❤
Thank you.

The presence of invasive species can threaten the survival of endangered native species
Invasive species are non-native organisms that, when introduced to new environments, can outcompete, prey upon, or bring diseases to local species that may not have evolved defenses against them.

Who introduced the Wild Boar in Australia? How did that happen?
The wild boar population thrived due to the favorable climate and abundance of food sources, and they quickly spread across various regions of the country.
@@tony98discovery That is not my question. I asked "who introduced the Wild Boar in Australia"?
@@Gennettor-nc8kx Possibly Maccassan traders who interected with Aboriginies for a very long time. How did this many wild boars get into Australia? Did he say how and I missed it?
European settlers introduced domestic pigs to Australia in the late 18th century. These pigs were brought for farming purposes as a source of food.
Don't forget, humans brought placental animals to Australia. Other than bats, marsupials are the indigenous animals in Australia. Trouble with hares/rabbits - we brought them. Trouble with dingoes - humans brought them. The damage done by wild boars is next to nothing, compared to the damage caused by humans. Hard to admit, but we need to accept the responsibility.
You've made some excellent points. Are there potential solutions to address these challenges?
There are plenty of wild boar in Britain, escaped from farms, and no natural predators, yet they're not running riot like this. What is is about Australia?
In Britain, the environment may not be as conducive to the rapid population growth of wild boars compared to Australia.
Massive amounts of unpopulated land.huge farms that are bigger than British cities.
Are these boars really good to eat or are they tough as hell .
Their meat tends to be leaner and can have a stronger flavor
shooting does not work.. traps work best.. you can capture 30 or so in a couple days. TRAP not shoot..
Yes, Traps can indeed be effective for capturing pests without causing harm to them or their environment.

This is part of why the people of Australia need to take their government back from the liberal politicians
thank you for sharing
Well in Australian the Liberal Party are the less liberal. Vote for the Nationals for better environment care.
I hate conservative politicians more than anything but I know what you mean. It’s so aggravating when naive sympathies are purported to have bearing.
We do have wild pigs in Australia but not that many. Definitely not enough to be a problem, the scenes of pigs shooting look like what happened in the US.
Estimates vary, but it's safe to say that the population is significant and causing widespread damage.
People are the problem not most animals. Just some.
Can you give a solution?
If you would invite the American sportsman the problem would be reduced quickly. Making it sooo difficult for Australian people to hunt and own weapons makes the problem worse.
What specific solution are you offering?
A boar is a male swine. Wild hogs is what this video is about.
Have you ever eaten wild boar meat?
Since it takes several dogs to catch one boar, hunting with dogs is not a method of control. It's just gratuitous cruelty.
Yes, that is also a solution

I had 2 dingoes that were used for cattle work, top dogs .
Dingoes are fascinating animals, known for their intelligence, agility, and adaptability. Are you having trouble taking care of them?
believe me. thats not australia
What impresses you about Australia?
Wild boars are animals that destroy crops, I don't like them at all.
It's understandable why you might feel that way, especially if you've experienced or know of the damage wild boars can cause to crops and property.
Do dingoes eat bushpigs?
In areas where bushpigs are present, dingoes may hunt them, particularly if the pigs are young, injured, or vulnerable.
People here in the USA do not want to eat them but how can they be worse then the processed crap at the super market.
Have you ever eaten wild boar?
In the Philippines, wild pigs are an ENDANGERED SPECIES. Because Filipinos love eating the meat of "baboy damo" or wild pigs -- and hunt them to near extinction. Perhaps the Philippines might be interested in importing the frozen (but cooked) carcasses of Australian wild pigs. Not only for human consumption, but also for our Tilapia fish farms, crab farms, even dog food. Our Department of Agriculture should look into this situation.
It's concerning to hear that wild pigs are endangered in the Philippines due to overhunting.

That's a wonderful gesture! Donating meat to food organizations that support the homeless and those in poverty can make a significant impact on their lives.
Who pays for the transportation, processing refrigeration and distribution? Fairies?
Why not feed them, with birth control added to it?
The birth control could affect other animals that consume the food, leading to unintended consequences.

What are you talking about?
This was interesting at first simply because I wasn't aware what a problem this was - BUT - the use of hunting dogs for sport was repulsive - And we we would then have to put down a wild dog that attacks a child - give me strength
Addressing the issue of wild dogs attacking humans requires careful consideration of both human safety and animal conservation efforts.
They aren't 'wild boars' - they're 'feral pigs' in Australia, made up of boars and sows. Most of your footage wasn't even in Australia but grabbed from other videos filmed in the U.S.A. and possibly Turkey.

Yes, the issue lies more with the interaction between introduced species and the existing ecosystems of Australia.

I'm surprised Australia allows firearms even for this needed activity. What do you do with all the carcasses? Do they need to be buried and sprayed with lime?
In Australia, firearms are regulated, and ownership is subject to strict laws and regulations.
@@tony98discovery In the USA rifles are barely regulated and shotguns not regulated at all, the only prohibition being fully automatic firearms. Handguns require a locally obtained permit to OWN in most states, to CARRY a handgun in daily activity requires a more stringent permit. Local Police issue the permits, after conducting a criminal history search. Contrary to popular belief, gun crime is very rare in the burbs, small towns and country-it is prevalent in the inner cities and most often involves drugs, gangs and organized crime figures. As for the wild boars, they are a big problem in the USA as well and encroaching on inhabited areas. I have no issues culling the herds by hunters, but hopefully some positive use can be made of the meat. If nothing else, the bodies need to be buried and covered in lime, so they don't attract predators and rodents.

Shooting and trapping alone seems to be a losing battle. There has been speculation that robots may well replace soldiers in some situations, so why not for animal control ?@@tony98discovery
Yes, while the idea of using robots for military or pest control purposes may hold promise, it's essential to approach these discussions with careful consideration of the potential benefits and risks, as well as broader societal and ethical implications.

Your information is interesting, I just heard about this problem now.
Why do not they use predator like african wild dogs because they more powerful and successful hunters than dingo
While this might make them effective hunters in the wild, it could pose challenges in terms of managing them in a domestic or semi-domestic setting.
That sort of biological control will always go wrong. The wild dogs would quickly learn that sheep, cattle, and native marsupials are easier prey.
