    I was cutting a small 3 1/2” piece of pecan a few days ago. The cut went well until the small uncontrolled cutoff piece began to float around on the saw table. Before I could shut off the saw the piece of wood was thrown back and glanced off my rib cage. It hit my side right in the ribs leaving a dime size gash in the skin. Scary stuff. I order the Grr-ripper right shortly afterwards. It arrives today. Be safe out there on the job.

    Great instructional video, I wish I had bought one a long time ago, now I have, it has changed the way I work, so it's time to buy number two. Thank you MicroJig

    Some very good tips mentioned in this video, like the part about wood stress.

    Cool product. Definitely buying one. The saw blade is much too high above the cut piece, so beginners should keep that in mind. Never have the blade higher than the wood than necessary.

      @Microjig  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew, We totally agree that the blade should always be set as low as possible. But the optimal setting is not an arbitrary number or position. The specific set and grind of the saw teeth determines the "proper" exposure. Generally, a rip blade should have the entire carbide tooth above the stock at the height of the arc. A combo blade should be set so 50-75% of the tooth is above, and a crosscut blade typically just needs to cut through the stock.
      But these are not settings cast in stone. There are blades and manufacturers that recommend different settings that have the blade a bit higher.

    Why is your tablesawprep video private? It's one of the three factors in making a clean cut and seems unavailable.

    Can you use the MicroJig on a piece of stock where the entire width extends past it? In other words, when your feeding the wood, is it ok if the jig is against the fence but all the way inside the blade so the blade is on the outside and not spinning underneath the feet of the jig?

    • @artincorona
      @artincorona 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jay Ross I read somewhere that you can use a wooden spacer to allow the Microjig to go out further from the fence.

      artincorona oh yea I could see that working, just would need a straight piece of stock

    Really need updated assembly instructions. Not clear and doubly confusing when the hardware is changed and doesn't match the instructions.

    does this work with aluminum (instead of wood)?

    • @jacks19822
      @jacks19822 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The work piece (the aluminum block or plate) should not be moved during the cutting process, it should remain stationary at all time. Have a look at the CNC machines, just a tiny fraction of movement or vibration could cause accidents, or part failure.

    • @twtmei88
      @twtmei88 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i think you misunderstood, i was asking if this would grip or help cutting aluminum material

    why didn't you lower the blade when cutting those small pieces? Otherwise helpful video.

    no matter how good, standing behing the fed piece is not good idea. If kickback occurs you are standing in the line of fire?

    Struggling making sure the blade will not hit the gripper. HELP

    • @Microjig
      @Microjig  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      JB, what I recommend is to set up the GRR-RIPPER as you think it should be, then remove the stock and make a "check pass" over the blade when the saw is OFF. If the blade will touch the legs, you will feel it here without damage.
      If you need more help, email us at support@microjig.com or call (855) 747-7233 and we'll talk you through it.

    "There are many situations in which you can't use the blade guard that came with your saw". I've never seen any situation in which you could. I learned on a table saw from about 1948 that had no guards. My shop teacher taught us to not be stupid.
