Winter Hill Incident - June 30th

Here we have some footage from the third day at the Winter Hill moorland fire. This incident was declared a major incident at 12:50hrs on 30 June as a result of a second fire at Scout Road advancing due to increased windspeed and merging the two fires. Here you can see some of the challenging, smoky conditions the crews are facing. You can also see the work of our partners at the incident too.

You have to be in the emergency services or you can find where to donate sports drinks. Today they have been dealing with a lot of public who are getting into trouble as the wind changes direction.

With a fireman as a leader and have a doctor to do a medical check on each volunteer yea just got to get some water up there though which requires more helicopters that can carry water.

When it's all over we will go for a drive and see the devastation, I remember as a kid seeing the moors after a fire, it stayed with me.
