try running more material through the sluice before you clean it out :) also try putting in smaller scoops at a time. Try running two buckets full through it then clean the sluice and pan it
Look at the land like it's a sluice box and dig it and pan that. Personally I can pan faster then most can sluice but I do enjoy a Garrett pan in your hand.
I have that same box. I recommend a slightly slower flow and replace half the black mat with outdoor carpet. Worked well for me.
