    I’m just starting my ~2.0L NA build. It’s a 1990 NA and getting a 99 engine block for a fully forged build. I’m not stroking it, just bore and a big turbo for roughly 350-400 whp. Without these in-depth vids, this would be a much more daunting task. Much appreciated!👍🏼

    Did I miss the break down of the specs on the block? Custom 85.5mm pistons? Was this a McCully Racing block with the custom sleeves?

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zero miles stock block. One cylinder needed to be re-sleeved due to rust.

  • @Rob_Green
    @Rob_Green 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Did you guys go for the 85mm piston or 85.5mm I may have missed that part.
    I am assuming that it's not a stroker crank and nothing changed in terms of conrod length?

    So what was the issue with the valves not sealing the whole way around?

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Previous builder never cut the valves properly.

  • @bvward
    @bvward 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm going with Wiseco 84.5's (8.8:1 CR), Manley rods, ACL bearings, Supertech stainless stock sized valves, 74 lbs. springs and titanium retainers. Non vvti. Boundary oil pump. I'm cheating, as the shop will assemble the bottom end for me ;) He built a nice MSM for his weekend car.

    • @enriquealvarez4702
      @enriquealvarez4702 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      84.5 mm on a turbo engine? Make sure that block has been inspected for any micro facture on the bore. For all motor go for it but raise the compression at least 11 to 1.

    • @bvward

    will this engine be using shim under buckets? i heard bps like shooting shims at high rpm (though mixed reports say this is cured with the stiffer springs).
    either way i bought some for my build :)

    Why did you torque seal the rods? It's not something you can visually inspect without pulling the motor apart, and I would be worried about the paint chipping off over time.

    Amazing content guys, You are inspiring me to put my VVT on my NA 1.6 and do it every by myself!! Do you recommend me to pay the HP Academy Courses?? Im an engineer with passion for engines, but never dismantled one, no Family or friend tradition to Cars. Hope you the best! Cheers from Spain

      For a VVT swap you can probubly get away with just content on forum and youtube. We have a whole series on swapping in a VVT. Fairly straight forward for a first time swap.
