    Haven't used Blender in a couple of years, so I'm definitely rusty. Thanks for the straightforward tutorial.

      Glad it helped, although blender has changed quite a bit since this tutorial. I recommend watching my other Retro-text tutorial aswell, featuring the newer more up to date blender version 2.8 :)

  • @kbotter3955

    I'm having trouble adjusting my camera. I duplicated the window and pressed 0 to view from the camera but when I move the camera it does not move on the other half.

    • @kbotter3955
      @kbotter3955 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok I fixed it. The problem was, I had to create a second camera because I couldn't get the first camera to move. This was because I was using a keyboard with a num pad. So when I pressed 0 the second camera wouldn't respond. I ended up going to view -> camera and changing it there.

      Ok, try file - user preferences - then press the input tab - then tick on emulate number pad box. This should make the row of numbers on your keyboard act as an actual numberpad

    When I do Shift+A I only get the option to add mesh shapes, what do I do?

    • @cgviking8459
      @cgviking8459  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, sounds like you are in editmode, try to hit TAB on the keyboard and try shift-A again. You could also use the menu on the left. Called create. Click the create tab, then scroll down to other and press text to add text :)

    i agree with most of these comments. youre going way to fast for 'beginner-level'. if you dont feel like explaining all the shortcuts and things you're doing, you could add one of those key tracker overlays where it shows us what exactly ur typing and using. however, i believe if that was just fixed up, the tutorial would be flawless. keep it up man.

    • @smqieh
      @smqieh 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh my bad, I just realised you already have one of those overlays in the bottom left. My bad, this makes it so much easier to follow along.

    • @cgviking8459
      @cgviking8459  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, thats odd. If you have trouble finding a font within windows i suggest using a free font site and download one on your desktop and add it there.

    couldn't follow your steps as fast as you, maybe slow down,and explain each step. do NOT Assume people know all the shortcuts.

    Slow down, for a complete beginner this is way too fast, this is the mistake that most of these "beginner tutorial" people make.. Beginners don't know a damn thing about the menus or the keystrokes and can't process it unless it's really slow and explained in detail.

    i use mac so this does not really work to well for me :I

    • @cgviking8459
      @cgviking8459  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please elborate what you're finding difficult, but if I can guess you probably have difficulties navigating blender ?Middle mouse button for example does not exist on a mac, so blender have have an emulation for that letting you use the ALT key on your keyboard. Go to file - preferences - input and then check the box for emulate 3 button mouse. That will most likely solve you're problem. If you have a macbook with as smaller keyboard without the numpad, you can also check emulate numpad in the same section, letting you use row of keys 1-0 acting as a numberpad for navigating views FRONT - SIDE- TOP 1 - 3 -7 on your numberkeys.
      I learned blender on a mac starting out, but changed to PC a while back. Its more or less the same experience apart from rendering. Hope some of this helps. I will include a more Mac-friendly tutorial next time :) Thanks for watching!

      Navigating blender is not my problem at all
      I know how to do that. It's just changing fonts

    • @FoxKitty3D
      @FoxKitty3D 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You said I had to go to window s

    • @cgviking8459
      @cgviking8459  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fox Kitty So, fonts on mac are a little different. Blender needs to read a .ttf fontfile. I suggest using the apllication Font Book on mac first. Choose the font in fontbook hit file and export font to a location you easily can navigate through. Then - Open blender and do the step in the video except this time you go to the location where you previously exported your font. Hope this helps :)
