Wow, Spectrasonics, this is easily one of my favorite TH-cam channels when it comes to watching really incredible performances. The cinematography, great cast of musicians you bring in, and amazing instruments really make these videos something special!
I guess there seems to be a few people that are struggling with the ever-changing, ever-evolving sound of jazz. These young guys are pushing it to a whole different level no reason to dislike it because you can't appreciate something new. I like the new modern and I like the traditional Jazz runs and chord structures that he includes in his pieces.
This is my favourite comment ever. It’s true in all aspects of music. Every genre. Every technique. Every way of playing or making music. This comment could be put for. I’m glad you have summed up what I’ve been thinking for the past year and a half 👏🙏🙏
@@slapmyfunkybass explain to me how can you appreciate something you don't like...do you know the meaning of "Appreciation"? and NO criticism can be either positive and negative it all depends.
I could not express it any better than you did. It is so refreshing to see these young cats keeping Jazz and it's many forms alive. The respect and time these musicians put into their craft is on another level raising the art to where it should be. Evolution is the key to longevity. We need the same to happen to the blues. Jazz and Blues is the soundtrack and foundation of American music that the world appreciates and listens to. God bless you Mr. Arajuo!!!
The Keyscape wonder here is the literal SOFTNESS demonstrated in Rob's playing and provided by the software. The world has changed. It's computer power, yeah, but it's we golden humans that trigger the tones. Eric, you bring such richness to this electronic era. Look at the faces of every single human that you've brought in to the studio to demonstrate your technology.
For those asking about the time signature the main body of the song sounds like 6/4 (snare usually landing on beat 4) with an interesting shuffle that sounds like it's based on sextuplet subdivision. He also uses a lot of 7/8 phrases at the beginning and end but then adds rests to fit it into the 6/4
In the beginning of the faster portion, I hear two 5/8 bars followed by a 9/8, there's a quintuple feel and then a skip. Towards the middle it does gravitate towards 6/8 or 12/8 depending on how you hear the phrasing (if you ask me its 12/8 because the phrases take a whole bar). The majority of the tune is compound meter, I don't hear any 6/4 at play.
"I was listening Glasper's back radio album for like 4 years, now the only thing I can play is glasper licks, help me... I'm dead inside" - Rob Araujo, talking at a Jacob Mann's jazz theraphy
Excellent video and performance! Thank you very much for the video, you all! May I suggest contacting Ronald Jenkees and showcasing him on one of your keyboard videos?
He took off snapped wow talented people in the world I know he can type really good lol 😂 if I could play like that I would do it every time I’m bored because it comes off as so fun 😁😍😍😍

Fuck the haters . This is exactly the kind of jazz I like. Kenta shimawaka is another one I love
You’re basically saying if someone doesn’t like it, it’s because they’re unable to appreciate it. We can say that about anything to escape criticism.

Very nice
This midi keyboard should be signed by every artist!!!
David Boura great idea really
And so they invite again those who didn't :)
It has been signed by every artist, you just can't see with the naked eye.
History being made, certainly
He sounds like a next-gen Lyle Mays. Incredible feel. I will be checking him out big-time.

Julián Andrés Murillo Hahahahaha!!!! Well, I don't know about Rob, but if I were gonna be stuck on anybody's licks, it would be Robert Glasper.
That sounds like a school where Jacob Collier gives regular talks about harmonic structure and atonal phrasing. I'd still go :)
Can deffo hear it!
Yeeeaaaaaaaaaaaa
Ah interesting. I was coming to the comments to comment how much the start sounds like a Glasper lick! Nice.
Y'all FINALLY got Rob here!!!!!!

I Love Spectrasonics! The Best
I really enjoy this video. Gotta find more about keyscapes and Rob.
Great job Rob!! I would love the sheets for this! 🙂
Spectrasonics, if you ever start a Keyscapes series for people who suck at piano, you know where to find me.
Machado Mijiga lmao you are actually a legend
Julián Andrés Murillo don't do drugs man; they mess with your head and make you delusional.
Bro machado if you suck I have no chance bro.
MCHawkJunior If your arms and legs work, you have a 100% of being better than me.
Not even all of your arms and legs, just if at least one works.
Cheers for the motivation bro but you don't suck by any means, your stuff on Jam of the Week is insane!!
Hey it's the guy that slays the synth solo on Tom Misch's "South of the river" video!
Damn I didn't expect to find Rob Araujo here. Nice!
