My axle was seized to the wheel hub. Spent hours trying to remove it with a slide hammer, heat, impact hammer. In the end I bought a 15 ton, three arm hydraulic puller and it eventually gave way. One job I hope I never have to do again...
@@addy2418 Thank you! For removing bolts from the back need to remove the axle shaft. Axle shaft is pressed in in wheel hub. Also wheel hub you can reuse with new bearing.
On a 2009 535i Xdrive, would the front and back all follow this procedure since they are all connected to driven axles? Thank you for the videos, you earned a new sub.
@@mikes.garage old axle shaft new bearing and hub fitted. Basicly when i try to push the new wheel hub onto the axle shaft it gets stuck half way in. I don't want to use a hammer or anything to prevent damage. Have you ever had this ?
@@panek4 you can use rubber hummer to hit axle shaft from other side. I had this once. You need to insert the shaft at least so you can put nut on and tighten it.
excellent video, clear, concise, no stupid music, nice and bright. Just perfect content honestly.
Thank you for watching!

I have same on other car. I even broke one puller.
I’m lucky that this car was always in warm climate.
Exactly the same thing on my E60 M5 .. needed a heavy duty hydraulic puller and heat.
Your channel alone has helped keep my m54 e60 going. Thanks man
@@cyborgzulu2011 Thank you for watching my videos 😏
Damn u make it look so easy. Took double time for me at home on the ground lol. Good work!
Thank you for watching!
how long did it take you ? going to try it this weekend.
@@reza_dc2 Sinc i had no lift, no puller. Had to do it on the ground. 4-5hrs i guess.

Not bad at all.

Great video. Just one question why would you use the slide hammer to pull the bearing assembly without removing all the bolts from the back.?

Great video ~
Two questions ..
Did you buy new axle bolts for the install ?
How long did this job take you?
Thanks
Thank you! I reused old bolts and axle nut, but the best way to use new bolts and axle nut. This job took me about 2 hours.
Thanks for getting back to me. Going to give it a shot.@@mikes.garage

Thank you for watching! Front bearing for AWD is complete different procedure.
Great video as always 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Hey, i went throught this job yesterday but the driveshaft seems to not go into the hub whatever i do. Any ideas ?
Do you mean new axle shaft want get into the hub?

@@mikes.garage thank you for the advice. I will try that tomorrow morning
Why did you use the puller? The hub would have come off as a full unit
@@CAFTxDUNT Because axle shaft pressed into hub.
What year is this car?
2008
Always make it look easy. 😅 my hero mechanic.
Thanks :)
Perfect video!
@@studdmuffnn Thank you!
Why remove the hub before on the car? Couldn’t you have done it all on a press
Because the wheel hud is big and can’t go through the press. But if you have new hub with new bearing then you don’t need to do this.
What's the point of removing the Allen's on the brake? I never do that. Just pull the caliper and bracket off together.
The point is to check, clean and grease brake pads touching points. But yes, you can remove all together with the bracket.
Superb video
Thanks
😮good job..... Mister
@@KukoekKekek Thanks
You need to make sure the handbrake is off otherwise the shoes bind on the disc
Remember this job being quite a beast..
