Scooby could talk without sounding comical if the show had something about supernatural for real, there was already a Scooby series with real supernatural stuff and it was really good, so you can make it work, it could all start because of Scooby and the gang would try to investigate how this happened while mysteries unfold, maybe he was a normal dog but out of nowhere started talking or maybe he is in fact a supernatural being that was found by them, in one way or another what happens to Scooby shows the depth of the main mystery they will have to solve...
I'm just watching the video and I also thought about putting them in college and them kinda drifting away from each other and trying to include the mystery gang with these new responsibilities
Would’ve been funny if Shaggy was a stoner in the show and Scooby was just a normal dog but Shaggy is always so high that he thinks Scooby is talking whenever he barks, and whatever Scooby ‘says’ actually ends up being useful
I think the reason why I love the old Scooby-Doo series Is because there’s this sense that they actually care for each other and that they’re actually like- Idk GENUINE FRIENDS that don’t insult each other every two seconds unlike the new show Velma
Exactly! Even tho they were all so different they were still really good friends, not bringing those things up and making fun of each other just for their interests.
I mean it works with the mocking sometimes, but you actually have to put a connection between characters. Regular show has characters that sometimes mock each other or just are being rude, but at the end of the day is about overcoming the supernatural challenge. And you can see character and relationship development too. So idk i kinda liked that concept too, because it sorth of works in right circumstances.
when daphne kissed velma to "stop" her anxiety attack it nearly made me punch a whole through my monitor. dont kiss people wheen theyre having panic attacks!!!!
This really makes me wish we had an adult focused Scooby Doo, but it's adult because it's well written, intelligent, and complex. Instead of whatever the heck Velma is.
Thank you. I agree. Being an adult isn't just SEX. It's crazy how being more mature always translates to sex and it's so upsetting how there's more to life than that
I literally thought the exact same thing! This also gives Fred more to do in this new gang. Velma is book smart, Daphne is motivated and taking more of the lead role and Fred can be the hands-on guy who's always pulling a weird but useful invention out of his vans.
Also, something I just thought about is that in older episodes of scooby doo, Scooby and Shaggy are almost always following the smell of food. It would make sense if the reason Shaggy loves food so much is that it's something he can still fully enjoy without needing to see
Im a diabetic and had a service dog who could smell when my blood sugar dropped and when I needed to eat food, afterwards I would reward her with some food. So changing Shaggy’s character like this is really cool and his doppyness can be interpreted as an illness instead of being a stoner. I liked your interpretations
There is a lot you can do with that context. He's overly cautious, people say coward He's actually a good runner, people say he runs away all the time He likes to cook, people say he's a suprisingly skinny glutton
how shaggys a foodlover yet so thin reminds me of one of my chronically sick cousins who eats a fuckton but looks dangerously skinny cause their bouquet of health issues
i was also thinking following the service dog idea that he could have an illness and be taking medicinal marijuana, maybe he could have anxiety, (i have some strong meds for my anxiety and panic attacks) and scooby could be a therapy dog. I also like the partially blind thing and your idea as i’m prediabetic.
i love the idea that shaggy IS partially blind an has an anxiety disorder but scooby's only actually trained to smell his blood sugar. he probably helps with anxiety regardless, but shaggy's still pretty oblivious to his surroundings a lot of the time because his 'guide dog' didn't pass the training and isn't certified lol.
@Alkalez are you stating my name or just calling me crazy, unless you could get four thousand likes in the span of three days every other day then okay
A small suggestion with Shaggy and Scooby redesigns, maybe you could have Scooby be a Diabetes service dog that alerts Shaggy when his blood sugar is low. That can explain why Shaggy always has snacks around and is looking for something to eat in the middle of an investigation. Also, the specialized scent training that Dibettes dogs go through would make Scooby's crime sniffer abilities more natural, of course, Scooby could also just happen to be a retired Police dog who was trained as a service dog after retirement.
I feel like Velma would major in forensic science and in criminology. Then her hobby would be reading every book known to man and she should also have a photographic memory. That's why she'd be so good at detective work.
Would be a good explanation to how in the (good) shows she can always just pull facts about random subjects out of nowhere with perfect accuracy, she remembers the facts to a T with the photographic memory! In a theoretical show that would focus on being more realistic, (although her being able to rattle off information she's read without a photographic memory isn't *necesarily* unbelievable), this would be a reasonable explanation. Especially if they got into unrealistic territory for how intelligent she is and how good of a memory she would have to have, lol
@@breewashere same i adore characters who love or study forensic science!! also photographic memory is just a cool and useful and a fairly realistic super power to have i luooove it
Every single character in this show is the exact opposite of what their personalities normally are. Like, dear God, WHAT did they do to Fred? Look at how they massacred my boy.
Every time I stop to think that they cancelled the Gumball movie, Infinity Train, and Close Enough to drop this abomination of a show, it hurts my soul.
They likely did it to justify the cancelations Axe animated series that aren't helping the bottom line -> produce an animated show that is likely to underperform -> use that to justify not investing in future animated projects That's why you see a lot of movies with queer characters underperform
yea same with The Rings of Power costing 700 million dollars, while a masterpeice like Arcane only cost 100 million even when its an extreme example in terms of budget. You can make amazing shows with a far lower budget and they didnt even bother hiring competent people with a near billion dollar budget.
they should’ve just made velma a completely new show with new characters instead of taking perfectly fine characters and stripping everything away that makes them… *them*.
that's what i keep thinking about. Why didn't they make an original show with this concept? they had to get already made characters and change their personalities which makes no sense. If you wanna make a show at least keep them the same
Parasites gonna parasite. Aside from just being creatively bankrupt people who can't make anything of their own, a big part of it is simply the power trip of taking away something that someone else loves, especially if they can rationalize it by stealing from groups they hate. This is why you see so much vitriol toward comic fans, movie fans, gamers, etc... These are easy targets for demonization in our current society, allowing them to get their bully flex and feel righteous while doing it because they're totally owning The Bad People. And of course it also makes it easier to dismiss all criticism of their shite work, because obviously it's just the toxic crybaby fandom failing to appreciate their genius.
@@crunchieapocalypse3360 yeah, the fact that it's actually very heartbreaking and real to the point that it can hit you in the gut just makes me wanna rewatch it.
Maybe 'jinkies' is like a stemming word for Velma that snuck its way into her vocabulary, so whenever shes gets scared or surprised she says that. After she explains that to the gang, they make up their own silly words so she doesn't feel so embarrassed and weird.
Scooby being a service dog is a fantastic idea, and plays into the old jokes where there's a ghost/monster right behind Shaggy that he can't see while Scoob is losing his mind.
Something I love about scooby doo is that canonically it’s _Shaggy_ that’s the jock and _Fred_ is a _theatre kid_ And it makes sense! Fred is the flamboyant plan guy, and Shaggy can run at the speed of a Great Dane, whilst carrying a Great Dane!
I used to joke with my friends that shaggy was a guy with either chronic pain or anxiety (just like me), and that he would self medicate with CBD. It was always kind of just a "lol what if" joke between me and my friends, but if were going for an adult version of the tv show, then I think that could actually work. It would also give an explanation to Scooby being in the show, as a service dog or a therapy dog
You know, I hadn't thought about the CBD part, but I did think about the anxiety too as a potential concept while watching the video! That's actually an interesting take :3
Yes yes yes! I wrote a whole movie concept around this kinda Scooby Doo vibe with the main crew in college and Velma as a highschool student, tutoring and taking classes at the college they go to.
Exactly he was always relatable to me in a way because he seemed anxious though he was mostly just there to make food jokes XD He has a simple but memorable personality
I had low expectations for the show but my friend and I watched some episodes for shits and giggles, and I’m not kidding when I tell u I felt uncomfortable for a whole day afterwards. It was just that bad 😭
Fun Fact: Velma was not supposed to be a nerdy character because the outfit she's wearing was actually a pretty popular sort of style in the past so she's actually more of the trendy character. (Edit) Dang I did not expect so many likes lol I just know this cuz my dads loves the earlier Scooby Doo show and btw the place you got "Velma is a nerd" and "Daphne is the popular one" is from "a pup named Scooby Doo" not a good show, also did the "Shaggy's real name is Norville" thing like there is another Scooby Doo show that says "Scooby's real name is Scooberton" That is a much better name than Norville sorry for the Rant but "a Pup Named Scooby Doo" is a horrible show don't watch it, it's weird. (Oh shoot forgot to mention Velma is very Observant which is another reason why people thought she was the smart character.)
Honestly thought her style was mod fashion, either that or a colorful beatnik. I guess people thought she's a nerd bc of the glasses. Man, it's always the glasses...
All of the Scooby-Doo characters have roots in 1950s teen archetypes. Yes, 1950s. They were based on characters from a 50s sitcom called The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, with Fred supposed to be Dobie himself, Shaggy being based on Maynard G. Krebs, Dobie's beatnik bestie (hippies being the late 60s version of beatniks), and Velma being based on Zelda Gilroy, the smart and somewhat nerdy girl in Dobie's class. Intelligent people were not as looked down on in the 50s as they were in, say, the 80s, so Zelda is just a little dorky. Interestingly, Zelda tried to capture Dobie's love interest, much like Velma does to Fred on the Kaling show (but jot in the mainline Scooby-Doo continuity).
I think it would be cool if Fred was an architect or engineer major since he came up with all of the traps and the saying “engineers are the smartest dumb people” which would play in with his whole himbo thing. ☺️
yeah, there's not really anything in his character that relates enough to fashion to make it seem like something he would choose to study. like he wears an ascot bc it's a show from the 60s not because fashion is his passion. His main character traits are being kinda basic but a good guy that's pragmatic and into traps, that screams engineer to me.
This! I’m leaning towards architect and he would try to sneak hidden rooms and secret spaces into every design. But he would def have a minor in something like civil engineering and only take the classes pertaining to buildings. And if he needs a break from reality tv he goes to docudramas where unsolved mysteries are his guilty pleasure. Which is how he found Daphne’s podcast! It’s easier to listen to the stories while he’s busy sketching his next building with a surprise!
IT engineer here... and also aligned more into the jocks than with the nerds. Sorry but yes, we have more in common with athletes that we have with scientists. We are not pharmaceuticals, biologists, chemists or even villains.
I love the idea of shaggy being actually super popular, but oblivious. It makes him seem like he’s just a sweet friendly guy! (Also, service dog pitch for Scooby is brilliant!)
Well if you watched some old episodes or movies I guess of Scrooby Doo You know lot of times girls would be getting with Shaggy with him being absolutely oblivious
I can see an episode where Shaggy gets invited to a campus party but awkwardly has to turn them down because he never knows when the next mystery might happen. Fred then gets the idea that he's stopping his buddy from spending time with other people, so decides to not tell him about a mystery. So it's just Fred, Daphne and Velma on their own, which doesn't go well, with Shaggy coming back to save the day because while he enjoys spending time with others, the gang are his best friends.
same with fred he always struck me as the nice sporty guy who’s popular but doesn’t let it get to his head (which isn’t unrealistic since I know people like that!!!)
Here is a fun fact: Shaggys name IS actually norville, but shaggy absolutely HATES the name in everything he does he calls himself shaggy, not even the gang knows his real name because he hates it so much.
I don't think they're always ignorant of it; I think it's been used to needle him a bit in other series when he scoffs at something's name. Was used to great effect in Mystery Incorporated to foreshadow Shaggy was from as wealthy a background as Daphne, but didn't fit in with the Old Money lifestyle, hence his strong attachment to Scooby.
Daphne having a podcast for missing people really fits cause she had a reality show I think Coast to Coast in the Zombie Island movie so this would be a natural next step for her reinventing.
OMG I LOVED WHAT YOU DID TO SHAGGY!!! Also, makes the "Scooby Doo where are you" jokes much more interesting, cause now he not only would be worried about his dog, but also because he would need that assistance. He would need to have Scooby around
How's about this for an idea; Shaggy's partial blindness and reliance on Scooby has made him very cautious to the point where people call him a coward. Do anything to his dog and he'd end you!
@@roastedsardines changing the race of already established characters is incredibly weird and honestly offensive as if race is just an object to show off and say "hey look at me, I'm doing a good job right?". if people wanted more diversity in shows, why not just have a new cast of characters instead of changing old ones
@@aznblueangel Well the characters are iconic in media, it doesn't hurt to give your iteration to a character. Like your own spin that so happens to include a more diverse casting with the modern lense, but in my opinion it starts becoming an issue when it's the ONLY thing being advertised and talked about cause it already gives viewers an awful reception of the show and how it'll be written. Including when going in a hard direction of claiming "We FIXED the show and characters!" Which gives more preachy superiority vibes from the producers and/or writers. Tho this is my take on that topic.
For real, it’s an amazing idea that they could’ve EASILY added while still showing representation of a community in a non stereotypical way! But to be honest the rest of the characters in the Velma show are stereotypes so I’m sure they’d find a way to ruin it which makes me really sad because they turned great characters like Daphne into a mean popular girl and Fred into a racist white kid which they focus on his body in a really creepy way, non-stop in the show. Not to mention the whole sexualization of high school girls thing in one of their episodes it’s just…yeesh..
Okay, Scooby being a service dog is the BEST idea I’ve ever heard! That would be such a great modern take, as well as a good explanation for why Scooby is allowed to go everywhere with him! As for Velma, I absolutely adore the idea of her becoming a lawyer! It would really suit her, but I think her flaw would be the speaking aspect as she is more of the awkward type but in the show we could see her progressing and becoming more confrontational and vocal! Daphne being a jack of all trades podcast girl is the best. I feel like she’s the kind of girl who doesn’t have it fully figured out yet so she’s trying just a lil bit of everything! Fashion, writing, public speaking? And the idea of she and Fred being high school sweethearts who are going to the same college is just so adorable to me because that definitely suits them. Fred would have to be some kind of engineer or something though, and have a full ride thanks to his football scholarship because he doesn’t come from money like his darling Daphne. And shaggy seems like the artistic type, maybe he got a ride on an artists scholarship or something similar? OO or maybe he wants to direct films but due to his vision impairment he no longer can? I have to hear some thoughts on this!
Dude I LOVE THE IDEA OF FREE BEING AN ENGINEERING STUDENT!!! Also, shaggy being an artist just makes sense for some reason? probably because I have a head cannon that he has a habit of doodling on gum wrappers and hiding them for his friends to find. i’ve seen some comments about how military or police dogs in training would get fired if they’re too friendly/loving, so maybe Scooby could be an ex-military/police dog that was trained to be an anxiety service dog for shaggy!
In the original series there were references to Shaggy doing track and gymnastics, so he could also be on a sports full-ride like Fred! If I were a track coach I’d definitely want the guy who can run as fast as a Great Dane, haha As for major, newer media makes it so he loves making food as much as eating it, so a culinary track? Or even Hospitality with the intent to start a restaurant, maybe.
YES FRED AS AN ENGINEER fuck yeah, this is what I’ve always thought. He loves traps (especially in the more recent iterations) to the point where it’s practically his special interest. I’m an autistic person about to study engineering and i absolutely love the idea of Fred using his practical problem solving skills to be an engineer!! And i think more people should talk about him being coded as on the spectrum, the fact that they made him an idiot in Velma actually feels like a middle finger to the autistic ppl that love Fred -_-
Based on Fred's various knowledge in arts as I recall, and his obsession with nets, I think something like archeology or history could be a choice for Fred. I like the idea of Shaggy being partially blind, and his obsession with food, so maybe he is studying culinary arts???
I can just imagine your Fred telling Daphne "No worries, Honey! I got your coffee mug! Go get 'em!" Like, that sort of sweet and supportive with little hearts just appearing when he speaks because he's so lovely type of character.
I think this would be the best example of how positive Fred is; he asks Daphne out, she rejects him as she's into someone else (a girl, ~maybe Velma) and Fred just goes "...wow, that's neat, have you asked her out yet?" before giving her any help she might need.
I think it would be funny if Fred is still the only one with a driver’s license, even when they’re all in college. Like, Velma never found time for all of the classes in her schedule, Daphne is really into fitness and environmentalism so she bikes or takes public transit, Shaggy couldn’t stay sober enough to even get his temporary permit (or more likely because of his blindness), or something like that. But the van is Shaggy’s, so Fred just drives the stoner van because no one else can lol
One of the most understated yet beloved quality of the Gang is how they are all extremely different in personality, interests, and looks yet they are one of the truest friend groups I've ever seen. They are so accepting and supportive of each other, there is never a question of one feeling like the odd man (or woman) out, no fears of being from different social circles, no worries of being judged for being different. That's because the gang are all genuine friends, they would never even entertain any thoughts of petty differences between each other. This dynamic os something fans unknowingly took for granted yet it is a core component of the Scooby Doo cast. Fans never questioned how these vastly different people got along because their friendship and trust in each other was so genuine. In other shows, fans might question such a friendship but not Scooby Doo as here it was an integral if under-appreciated aspect of every Scooby Doo incarnation. So when Velma suddenly created divisions between the gang on the basis of different personalities, interests, looks, and social statuses, it broke the unspoken rule of the Gang's dynamic. Velma even goes further than creating mere division, it actively makes the Gang antagonist, aggressive, and hateful of each other. I think that is a major reason why fans are so repulsed by this newest incarnation, because it fundamentally misunderstands and misrepresents that integral quality which the Gang have had for 60+ years: that understated yet true, genuine friendship.
u nailed it, i’m so sick of adult cartoons where they make the main characters toxic towards each other. this is also why i love smiling friends bc they did not do this
I wish you were in that board room bc the concepts you gave them along with the storyline??? Incredible. Honestly hope we get an adaptation with the same idea one day!
I totally agree. This is how you make a serious take on Scooby-Doo, not whatever they thought they were doing with Velma. I've seen a lot of people critiquing the show and creating their own pitches, and this one is my favorite by far!
daphne being a pod-caster is kinda on point since in one of the movies she had a blog channel , and in the zombie island movie she was interviewed on the news (i forgot wat they were interviewing her about tho)
Just watched the movie today (if something good came with Velma series it made me become once again interested in old Scooby Doo shows). She was interviewed because they had became relatively famous after solving so many mysteries.
I know Scooby isn't supposed to talk, but I think maybe giving him more human traits like really expressive eyes might make the audience see him as a bit more intelligent than the average dog. Even in Mystery Incorporated, probably the best "edgy" reboot, Scooby was still pretty intelligent (he also turned out to be part alien but that's beside the point) Just my suggestion. Honestly I really like your mature takes on the characters, they look so good. Also I love that Scooby is a seeing eye dog, it makes so much sense as to why they're so close🥰
"They would be in college" YES YES YES THANK YOU THIS IS ALREADY 10 TIMES BETTER Hear me out- Fred walks into Daphne's dorm or whatever to run a design by her, while Velma and Daphne are discussing the missing person's case, and because he's a gentle giant as soon as he hears it's a local, he's in. He knows he might not be much help, but he refuses to be sidelined.
fairly reason plus the place setting is a college is totally fresh from stereotype high school animate because see to much high school in animate is very boring .Anything place beside the high school is totally good idea for totally new cartoon/animate show.
I feel like Fred's the type of guy that is accidentally snobbish. Since the show is going for 'Fred is snobbish and annoying' I think it would be funny if Fred in the show is this rich guy who has like millions of dollars and gives out his money freely because he just thinks its common for everyone to have millions of dollars on everyone. Of course, he's still his regular self as in the original animations, not annoying and babyish; bc they slaughtered his character in the show.
I love the idea of Shaggy having a service dog and them having their own special bond, it's so wholesome and it opens the show to a lot of great ideas you can do with them I would totally watch it that way
I just love the idea so much! Though I thought Scooby would be an anxiety service dog Shaggy had since he was a little because one of his main characteristics is being a scaredy-cat. It adds to the darker tone that the show is trying to create too because I don’t think a lot of kids shows delve into anxiety/panic attacks/mental health in general
I love the changes you made to shaggy and scooby. It gives them a reason to be there, IMO. Scoob can find clues and point them out/get the same scent from a common person. Which makes him a remarkable asset. Shaggy can translate scoob's behaviour and lil' borks to the level that the others think they can read eachother's mind, which makes him a great help to have. I'd give him a talent or wit so he isn't basically just Scoob's translator, though. Something along the lines of science enthusiasm, allowing him to recognise compounds mixed together... So, here's my pitch: A mysterious disappearance and fire has occured and Daphne is covering it real time for her followers. She's so deep in her headspace that she kinda loses track of the bigger picture. But Fred joins up with her and makes her enjoy a good cup of coffee/tea, clearing her mind. With her mind cleared and him caught up, they decide to talk to Velma and see if there are some legal reasons this isn't broadly talked about. Velma discusses that she doesn't know the in's and out's of the case, and the group go out to the place where it happened. Velma can get some better insight there, Daphne can vlog the thing to show her followers what the devestation brought, and Fred keeps them standing in a sad and tough environment. They try to find something, but with no luck, until Shaggy and Scoob show up. Scoob heard people mucking about in a weird building so decided to come up with Shaggy to see what was going on. Shaggy voices the question Scooby seems to have, and the rest explain what's going on. Shaggy then asks Scooby if he can find something special, and after some doggo-sniffin', leads him to it. It ends up being a burnt out can of spray paint, which makes no sense to the team, until Shaggy explains that it contains flammable driving gasses that, when mixed with certain chemicals can make Napalm. Now with clues in hand, hand-waving from the local authorities and a sense of obligation to find person X, the team heads up and tries understand why somebody would essentially firebomb a random house. Que rest of the season.
Okay hut why is this idea better then every Velma episode, and already at the greatness that Scooby-Doo (Original shows) would have if it was an adult film? Someone give a medal to this guy
They could’ve easily made an “adult” scooby doo by aging up the characters, making the monsters more monstrous and less kid friendly, and letting Fred cuss everyone has their catchphrase when stuff goes wrong except for Fred let my man cuss when something happens
To the Fred cussing thing, that reminds me of a video where the different characters would say their lines: Velma: "Jinkies!" Daphne: "Jeepers!" Shaggy: "Zoinks!" Scooby: "Ruh roh!" Fred: "FUCK"
You made a far more interesting pitch and character designs than a PROFESSIONAL STUDIO. The thing I hate most about Velma is the sheer laziness in the designs, dozens of hobby artist have been making more visually interesting designs for years and they settle on something that looks like a free character generator. Also, this is a very enticing reimagine that doesn't disregard or disrespect the original.Honestly, Warner Bros should contact you and make you art director or something
They really should I got more excited for the story from her descriptions than I did from several commercials for Velma. Normally I’m not one to judge a show before I see it, but Velma just felt off in a way I couldn’t describe until I saw the actual show. It honestly felt like they wanted to make a different show but used the Scooby Doo IP just to get the show greenlit
I feel like with velma they tried not to overcomplicate the designs and the plot, trying to stay simple to appeal to a broader audience (ig??) and, well, they failed. but I'm pretty sure the simplness was intentional
@@sarahelroub1800 that's exactly how I feel. Sure there is nothing wrong with the OG Velma designs on paper, but something about them didn't feel right. especially the promo. It's odd that considerable work went into the backgrounds and lighting but the character designs seem...lazy. The show wanted to present itself as irreverent and wanting to tell its own story its own way;however, the character designs were...safe. a different skin tone there, a different facial feature here and that's it.
I'm so sad that this isn't an actual show that's about to be produced. Your ideas are so spectacular and your character designs are so visually interesting. I want this show so bad now :(
Let’s get the animators in the Lavendertowne community and make this. We’ll call it Dooby-Scoo (yes that entire comment was just so I can make that joke)
I think we can all agree, we do not mess with the Himbo! Fred is a great character! Enthusiastic, sweet, funny and brave! Sometimes, even in more "mature" animations, we need a character that anchors everyone else. I love the new cast you drew, especially Velma! Thank you for fixing the monstrosity that they'd made!
He isn't dumb though, never has been. Charismatic /= dumb. Fred is also pretty book smart like Velma but it's more directed at catching the bad guy than anything else. In some iterations they basically make him autistic and obsessed with traps/ crime solving. In others, he's incredible at geography and seems to have friends all over the world. Sometimes he is a little naive and not wise, but he's always doing well academically. Until Velma, I guess.
@@beththedarkmage3359 in scooby soo and guess who he is portrayed as a little dumb and i found it funny, but it’s not like he doesn’t know how to cut a steak kinda dumb, just himbo dumb, lmao
I love your take with Daphne facing the real world problems of crime solving, especially in the internet world. Her role would have also been great criticism towards how the internet's obsession of criminal cases can overlook the suffering of victims and their families and even frame/ruin innocent people's lives just to say they've "solved" the case (example being Tiktok detectives).
i think a fun way to translate fred’s love of traps / his van would be to make him an engineering major or something in that vain which also makes him being a himbo pretty ironic. and then him and daphne could maybe just come from the same high school (private school if you wanna keep their rich background) and she uses him for testing out male fashion (to still justify the similar fashion sense).
that's a cool idea!! maybe a major in engineering with a minor in fashion? or double-majoring? or maybe he and Daphne know each other through a club. love the idea of them knowing each other for longer, though!
@@phantom-ri2tg no, i believe that Fred actually owns it in some incarnations. i'm pretty sure that's explicitly stated to be Fred's van in Mystery Incorporated.
@@broblerone413 the minoring / double majoring idea is really good i never thought of that! the club would also be great for getting them together - i wouldn’t know what club would be a common interest for them but that wouldn’t be too hard to figure out i don’t think
"This show is full of hate" that is the best descriptor of this nasty reboot. Thank you for your reimagined version of the gang, I would watch your version! 💗
I love your idea for making Scooby Shaggy's service dog! I was thinking (before you mentioned Shaggy could be partially blind that's a really cool idea too), it would make sense for him to help Shaggy with severe anxiety and panic attacks. Dogs can sense when something is wrong before we can, and some can be trained to notify the owner about upcoming panic attacks or fainting spells brought on by stressors and help with grounding/making you feel protected when you're in that vulnerable state. That would explain why Shaggy was always the most scared in the original show and why he might use weed medically (and recreationally if he wants).
NO WAIT, I LOVE THAT IDEA!!! Not only does it work with this new update of Scooby being a service dog, but it also ties in with the overall lore of the franchise and Shaggy's personality. One criticism I see when it comes to the Scooby-Doo franchise is that Scooby and Shaggy seem to not enjoy solving mysteries because they are just absolutely terrified of everything and are somewhat cowardly. l like this approach though! Shaggy isn't a coward or anything, he genuinely loves solving mysteries but struggles with severe anxiety.
Oh my gosh! Before she said he would be partially blind I was thinking that he could be an emotional support dog for anxiety and possibly depression. I thought her idea was awesome too, though. 😁
@@leonarose738id argue why not both? give our boy some anxiety (potentially from his lack of sight) but keep the lack of sight for the clumsiness that he always has of stumbling into clues
The redrawing of Fred just makes him look like a genuinely sweet guy that you can get a coffee with after going to the gym or a book club or something.
I always imagined the gang's college majors during the 90s movies Velma - English Lit major (her love of books) Daphne - Media Major (her love of journalism) Fred - Engineering major (his love of building traps) Shaggy - Philosophy or art major (he is rather hippy-ish and i think he'd vibe with getting high and having Philosophical adventures or doing art)
Ooo mine is very similar! My version of them is: Velma- Lit major OR forensic science Daphne- Industrial design Fred- Engineering Shaggy- College dropout, but has his life together with work and hobbies
Mine's also very similar! Velma: biomedical/forensics major Daphne: fashion/creative writing Fred: engineering Shaggy: catering/food tech (he did make scooby snacks after all)
I love the idea of Scooby being a seeing eye dog. I was thinking that it would be cool if Shaggy was also a culinary student since it would go with his whole food thing and his class could be off campus so it could still coordinate with your idea. This way Scooby snacks could be introduced without being too forced as well.
This! THIS!!! THIS is what Velma should be. Mature, realistic yet respectful to the source material. I love those redesign and description. And kudo on Fred being Gentle Giant (as I'm a Gentle Giant too.). I just love it! I could imagine all the classic mysteries in more realistic way. 20/10!
Also, I am an absolute sucker for Fred and Daphne's relationship as a couple. So I adore the idea of daphne being this intense little goblin and Fred being her emotional support himbo always in the background like "THAT'S MY GIRLFRIEND" very supportive. And they can lean on each other with Daphne's notion of not belonging anywhere but Fred DOSE make her feel like she belongs. And similarly she's his anchor , standing up for him like "excuse me, he asked for no pickles" and Fred would probably tag along for Daphne's cause and be really scared at first and then take charge if needed to help daphne and just syxtdsestctxrxtcrx. I'm sorry I just love them so much. Great work on redesigning them lavendertownie. Edit : everyone in the subcomments, I would vibe with you.
As much as I like Lavendertowne’s redesigning videos, this one is definitely not her best, I mean imagine trying to salvage a dumpster fire that’s burning a once flourishing forest, not an easy feat. Her art style itself looks nice and cute, but it always is, so that’s not what I’m referring to, and though I acknowledge it as your subjective take, to say the redesigns are great is a huuuuge overstatement. All Lavender did was make the characters less psychotic and evil and unlikable, not fresher characters, just not worse from the current reboot’s designs, plus she added Scooby. Plus the dynamics between Velma and Daphne at the end there suggest that Fred and Daphne aren’t together in her version, I feel like Lavender would hint to them dating, but she didn’t, they seem like best friends in her explanation of Lavendertowne-Fred’s character if anything. Feel free to argue with me, I just didn’t like how this just seems like the non-evil twin of “Velma.”
REAL and ong this leads the way for poly couple because daph confess that she likes velma and fred is like no way!!! i like shaggy. velma likes daph and thinks shes stupid and its one sided meanwhile daph is pining and sending mixed signals, velma is confused because shes dating fred?! shaggy is chill and obliviius and hes like "oh. i thought we were already kinda dating? daph is still your gf?" "yes??? but i really like you and i want to date both of you" cute poly couple antics ensue
I remember in JelloApocalypse's Scooby-Doo video, he called them a pin-cushion couple. Daphne the pin and Fred the cushion, I think it works really well
The fact that you were able to create such interesting redesigns that are so much better than the people who were literally given (probably) months and were paid to do it is astonishing. Tho I’ve heard the Velma show was originally supposed to be a parody of riverdale but then had to force it into the scooby doo ip
I love that she gave the characters ties and reasons to want to talk to each other. Things that are built into the world and characters. In Velma, it's painfully obvious that things are happening because the creators demand it, not because it makes sense or progresses story
Ok, I freaking LOVE the idea of Daphne being an influencer for a more modern take I feel like she wouldn't START with horror and mystery but slowly sink into it. I feel that she would slowly start out by talking about film analysis and studying fashion throughout the ages in a sort of visual storytelling way (a great example of something like this is in the film 'ready or not' and the way the main protagonist's wedding dress is a visual representation of her emotional distress, a relationship falling apart and inner survival instincts all represented in around 17 different pieces that change throughout the film.) Daphne would probably also be in the theater because drama queen and would take costuming and makeup WAYYYYYY too seriously. Once she meets the rest of the cast and slowly starts becoming closer with them I feel like she would be able to solve cases based on film cliches such as the 'final girl' trope or recognize that a person faked their death by recognizing their fake blood being made out of eyeshadow and corn syrup using her skills in the practical effects category to slowly help the rest of the team figure out where they got their supplies for the costumes or stunts of the monsters and why they wanted them to look a certain way. In this way, I think that Daphne could actually be the most interesting of the cast. Seeming like just this preppy makeup-loving girly girl that actually is highly educated in practical effects, film design, and writing that can make a film so influential in either a good horror movie or a cheesy yet sweet coming-of-age film. She would represent the 'blonde bimbo assumption with a brain atop the bod reveal/subversion."
I mean in Zombie Island she becomes a news presenter intern or something so that totally makes sense. Her whole thing in that movie was trying to show REAL supernatural events after the gang got bored of it always being a man in a mask.
i love this SO much, yall are so creative. i never watched scooby doo growing up, but everyone’s ideas for what velma could’ve been is making me want to go binge it
@@whenthemoon Oh I'd highly recommend it! Especially Mystery Incorporated! The dialogue is hilarious, the animation is stellar, and the writing is smart throughout! The old and classic Hannah Barbara's aren't bad though either if you want to watch a classic Saturday morning cartoon with some lines that aged a bit too well!
Never been a fan of the 'adult animation' category anyways, but it really could've been so fun to have a Scooby-Doo reboot in the modern day. I love how you interpreted the potential for a show like that
It’s crazy that you can make a better ensemble of characters that look like their full of love than a whole group of professional animators and character designers.
I think the animators are not at fault here also the character designers have to keep their designs to the minds of the writers so really the writers are the biggest problem here because I think the animation as is looks really good
@@Momo-ck5vd the character designers and the animators did a fine job, I don't have much criticism for them lol, they did well with the landfill inferno they're given... 😅
BRUH THESE DESIGNS ARE SO GOOD. I LOVE the idea of Scooby being a service dog for Shaggy, it not only gives some much needed representation for the disabled, but it allows for so many options with character dynamics. Every character design fits so well and I love how you brought out modernized versions of their original outfits. Keep up the great work!
I love how you redesign the characters. You don’t just improve the chara design like others would, you remake the story and improve the whole show. And I love that you invent your own version of the show to make what it’s supposed to. I really love it
I feel like modern Fred would have been *obsessed* with escape rooms :) I love your approach to the cast, there’s so much love and care for the original characters. If only we could have a show in your style, with this kind of appreciation for the original. Scooby as a seeing eye dog is a brilliant concept. I wish we could see such a positive display of accommodation for the disabled people on TV
I love the idea of Shaggy and Scooby being a duo through visual impairment and service needs. It gives a great representation of these sorts of relationships and gives a reason for why Scooby is always in on their adventures. What an amazing idea.
I'm pretty sure they mention it in at least one of the first two live-action movies too. Why would anyone think "Shaggy" is his real name? That's clearly a nickname. All the other characters have entirely normal names.
that def makes sense, but i do feel like his nickname, Shaggy, just adds so much to his character! it's a super funny juxtaposition between having this... well shaggy looking dude have a super formal name like Norville, so his nickname reflects who is actually is instead of what his parents wanted him to be. just a thought though!!
10:25 One reason I hate the new Fred is because the old one was autistic coded, I mean it’s obvious special interest to the traps and mystery, not understanding social cues and stuff like that, and the new one is in literally walking joke for ablest, I am autistic myself and I find it really difficult cutting food and I ask for help from others
i promise this time i wont write any- “Done.” Daphne clicked the ‘publish’ button, waiting patiently for the video to upload full to the site before she clicked away from the studio tab and refreshed her channel tab, double checking that it had gone up okay. She nodded at the sight of the video and the thumbnail, a picture of the missing person she had talked about. Satisfied that her latest piece of media would gather it’s first views better without her hovering, she stood and grabbed her bag, slinging it over her shoulder and adjusting it as she hurried out of the door. The fashion major made her way with practiced ease to the little coffee shop just off campus. She smiled fondly at the building; bright green with orange and blue flowers painted on the walls. It was called ‘Flower Power’, a cheesy name but quite fitting for the 60s design. whoops my finger slipped. whoops my finger slipped again. now theres an outline going.
If you post this anywhere please share a link (or anything else that could help me find it), I’d love to read a fanfic that takes place in the same universe that Lavendertowne created for this rendition of Scooby Doo
I’m glad LavenderTowne made Daphne a fashion major, it’s very on-brand, also I can definitely see Fred crying over The Bachelor, just wanted to put that out there. Edit: I also want to say that I would personally make Fred start being interested in Daphne’s podcast and mystery solving because of something related to his love for traps, I believe Fred’s trap passion is an important aspect of his character.
Exactly, that's what I love about the characters they all had their uses. And Fred's knowledge and enthusiasm for traps was what made him a part of the team
i adore fred's passion for traps! intense interests are something i can relate to as a neurodivergent person, and it's really nice to see it in a show where his friends don't make fun of it (at least not maliciously). plus, he's just a fun character in general - himbo rights
I haven't seen the show, but why on earth would making them minors be a good idea? They were even already adults and they were making this for adults, why would they change that? Baffles my mind.
@@ThatOneLadyOverHere Exactly I'm pretty sure the only reasons were either because they were teens in the original iterations or because it would make their parents more relevant, but it shouldn't have been so either way
Your redesign of Shaggy's my favorite I think, it'd make sense why he needs the dog around and why he's a bit more dramatically scared/stubborn about splitting up and going to somewhere potentially unsafe, but totally able to pull it off! :D .. I forced myself to watch Velma, having grown up mostly on the older scooby-doo shows and animated movies. One good thing about this awful thing existing is how people FIXED it and showed some love. Also the animation of the very scary reality-bending monster version.
I also like the idea of Scooby being a service dog for anxiety, since whenever they get scared in the original, they always run to each other. But I absolutely love the idea of Scooby being a guide dog, its so cute!
Your depictions are just so respectful to the spirit of Scooby Doo while also progressing their depictions in innovative, fresh, and inclusive ways. I truly look forward to reading your own stories, as your character design process and plot intuition is just amazing.
I would definitely watch your version, not even as a Scooby doo spin off but as a series on its own. Im actually kind of sad its not a real show :( great job!!
I would totally watch your version of Velma! I also like that you kept the characters diverse and incorporated their identities in a meaningful way to emphasize the problems with this show aren’t about “wokeness”.
When you said Scooby should be a service dog as a way of explaining why he’s able to go every and have Shaggy be partially blind I just thought, “That’s genius. Someone get Lavender in a writer’s room RIGHT NOW.”
Imagine if they made Shaggy the one having panic attacks and they use the service dog concept to help comfort Shaggy. After we all praised how DreamWorks depicted a panic attack in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, I always thought of the idea of Scooby-Doo being that kind of service dog for Shaggy. Especially since they always had the relationship of a dog being a man’s best friend.
I love this, especially Scooby and Shaggy as a service dog handler myself. I've had a service dog since I was 16 (i'm 23 now) and I swear the connection and bond you have with these dogs are so deep it's ABSOLUTELY like you can speak to each other and just KNOW. I can be feeling completely fine but my service dog is studying my behavior and scent and can tell me when something is wrong before I feel it (ofc this is trained but still, some behaviors are picked up through working together for so long. He learns my little habits, ones i'm unaware of, and knows what they mean) and I can read him just as clearly.
I love the character design in this video. Like your normal designs are sooo cute and literally my dream is to draw this well but I would watch every episode of this show if these characters had these backstories it’s soo amazing!
It makes me want to cry that creative people like you that have good ideas don't have the resources to go throw with those ideas and instead we get crap like Velma.
As a person with ONH (optic nerve hyperplasia), I love the idea of Shaggy being partially blind! If we ever see characters with a vision disability, they usually are completely blind or just need glasses. I cannot think of one partially blind character. Tbh, I love all these concepts for the gang, they work so well for a modern retelling of Scooby Doo!
All of these designs and backstories are absolutely stunning and genius! I especially LOVE your version of Daphne, she would absolutely be a true crime girl shedding light on lesser known crimes on less popular and rich people! And I love how you still added the diversity the new Velma show seems to have added for some odd reason (personally I don’t really care that they changed the race of the main cast, as long as they stayed true to the characters or at least remind the viewer of them which they didn’t)
Yeah, but I feel like she could've kept Velma South Asian instead of Korean because South Asians don't get much representation compared to East Asians.
@bruh Yeah I definitely do agree with that, surprisingly lots of uneducated people seem to only consider East Asians as Asians despite there being a wide variety of Asian, South Asians such as Indians being one of them.
@bruh I think the main problem with adult shows these days is that they try so hard to copy other popular shows like Family Guy and think being crude, edgy, and “funny” would make them popular. Most adult shows fail to use their advantage of being allowed to show serious topics in a serious manner. A great example of this is Moral Orel, it starts off as crude and edgy but later in the series it actually handles serious topics in a serious manner with many of the background characters dealing with their own problems which is what really made the show popular, I’ll try not to spoil too much as it’s a very great show and I do recommend watching it. It is sad how great shows like Moral Orel get cancelled for being “too dark” while garbage like the Velma show get greenlit AND get to have a second season.
Yes!! Shaggy’s name is Norville! It’s specifically used in any of the scenes with the parents, his parents use Norville to adress him ect. (Specifically used in “Scooby Doo; Mystery Incorporated”) I’m pretty sure it comes up in “What’s New Scooby Doo” and in prior series but I’m not 100% on that. ALSO, I’d just like to say thank you for treating these beloved characters with so much care! 💕
if you guys had to modernize/edgy-ify scooby doo, how would you approach it? :>
the way you did, more faith to the og personalities and better diversity and representation that wasnt based on stereotypes
Scooby could talk without sounding comical if the show had something about supernatural for real, there was already a Scooby series with real supernatural stuff and it was really good, so you can make it work, it could all start because of Scooby and the gang would try to investigate how this happened while mysteries unfold, maybe he was a normal dog but out of nowhere started talking or maybe he is in fact a supernatural being that was found by them, in one way or another what happens to Scooby shows the depth of the main mystery they will have to solve...
velma and daphne should be in a relationship. it would just be a very interesting plot imo, what do you think(
Would be interesting if they were training the next generation of mystery solvers
I'm just watching the video and I also thought about putting them in college and them kinda drifting away from each other and trying to include the mystery gang with these new responsibilities
Would’ve been funny if Shaggy was a stoner in the show and Scooby was just a normal dog but Shaggy is always so high that he thinks Scooby is talking whenever he barks, and whatever Scooby ‘says’ actually ends up being useful
oh my god thats so funny, yes.
i love that idea!
duuuuuude that's such a good idea
like a interal dialogue with himself to process information. like rubberducking, but for a mystery. good idea.
yes
I think the reason why I love the old Scooby-Doo series Is because there’s this sense that they actually care for each other and that they’re actually like- Idk GENUINE FRIENDS that don’t insult each other every two seconds unlike the new show Velma
Exactly! Even tho they were all so different they were still really good friends, not bringing those things up and making fun of each other just for their interests.
@@masonhow4936 true. I thought it was common sense to have people who are friends like each other, but Ig I was wrong
What happened to Scooby in the show?
in velma every character is just a stereotype
when daphne kissed velma to "stop" her anxiety attack it nearly made me punch a whole through my monitor. dont kiss people wheen theyre having panic attacks!!!!

I literally thought the exact same thing! This also gives Fred more to do in this new gang. Velma is book smart, Daphne is motivated and taking more of the lead role and Fred can be the hands-on guy who's always pulling a weird but useful invention out of his vans.
actual giga brain moment
Maybe he swap his major after discovering his love of building traps well solving mystery with the gang 🤔
Yeah like that youtuber mark rober
I think it would be better for scooby to be an anxiety service dog, since one of shaggy's biggest traits is the scaredy-cat role.
ooh that's a good idea too omg
Yooooo fr honestly
YES YES YES YES
I love this idea
This is exactly what I was going to say! Scooby should be an emotional support dog!
The genus part of making Shaggy partially blind is that he [and Scooby] can unknowingly stumble upon clues and monsters without being stupid.
omg I didn't even think about it like that, that's a good idea
Huh, didn’t Think about that. That’s actually really smart
Also, something I just thought about is that in older episodes of scooby doo, Scooby and Shaggy are almost always following the smell of food. It would make sense if the reason Shaggy loves food so much is that it's something he can still fully enjoy without needing to see
@@meganmullis5386 i really love that idea
@@meganmullis5386 yes and his sense of smell would be stronger because he’s partially blind!
He's overly cautious, people say coward
He's actually a good runner, people say he runs away all the time
He likes to cook, people say he's a suprisingly skinny glutton
how shaggys a foodlover yet so thin reminds me of one of my chronically sick cousins who eats a fuckton but looks dangerously skinny cause their bouquet of health issues
i was also thinking following the service dog idea that he could have an illness and be taking medicinal marijuana, maybe he could have anxiety, (i have some strong meds for my anxiety and panic attacks) and scooby could be a therapy dog. I also like the partially blind thing and your idea as i’m prediabetic.
i love the idea that shaggy IS partially blind an has an anxiety disorder but scooby's only actually trained to smell his blood sugar. he probably helps with anxiety regardless, but shaggy's still pretty oblivious to his surroundings a lot of the time because his 'guide dog' didn't pass the training and isn't certified lol.
i love this idea. it goes well with the original scooby doo bc Shaggy is a really food-motivated character!!
The concept of Shaggy being partially blind and Scooby being a dog who helps him is actually really cute
I also like lavedertowne's idea that shaggy is maybe pretty popular but he is oblivious to it
Personally I think Shaggy having an anxiety disorder and having Scooby as his service dog who helps him with it would be interesting too.
Omg what if he has glaucoma and that's why everyone thinks he's a stoner. Like cause glaucoma is sometimes treated with cannabis

Love this idea. I love how we all agree that Scooby is so important.
Thats crazy smart

I feel like Velma would major in forensic science and in criminology. Then her hobby would be reading every book known to man and she should also have a photographic memory. That's why she'd be so good at detective work.
👏👏👏
Would be a good explanation to how in the (good) shows she can always just pull facts about random subjects out of nowhere with perfect accuracy, she remembers the facts to a T with the photographic memory! In a theoretical show that would focus on being more realistic, (although her being able to rattle off information she's read without a photographic memory isn't *necesarily* unbelievable), this would be a reasonable explanation.

As the daughter of an electrical engineer, and the partner of a mechanical engineer. I can confirm it us true
yeah, there's not really anything in his character that relates enough to fashion to make it seem like something he would choose to study. like he wears an ascot bc it's a show from the 60s not because fashion is his passion.
We are not pharmaceuticals, biologists, chemists or even villains.
that is the most amazing thing i have heard all day
I love the idea of shaggy being actually super popular, but oblivious. It makes him seem like he’s just a sweet friendly guy! (Also, service dog pitch for Scooby is brilliant!)
Well if you watched some old episodes or movies I guess of Scrooby Doo
You know lot of times girls would be getting with Shaggy with him being absolutely oblivious
@@jordanloux3883 this, this one concept is better than the **entirety** of the velma show
@@jordanloux3883 Oh this sounds like a great idea
same with fred he always struck me as the nice sporty guy who’s popular but doesn’t let it get to his head (which isn’t unrealistic since I know people like that!!!)
Honestly one of the most shocking things to come out of the show is finding out that absolutely no one knew Shaggy's name was always Norville.
I laugh because he was even called norville in mystery incorporated. Just one if those things absolutely no one remembers

@@aznblueangel
Well the characters are iconic in media, it doesn't hurt to give your iteration to a character.
@@aznblueangel I'm curious. Are you a POC?
I’m all for Scooby being a service dog like that idea just really makes me incredibly happy. Take notes Mindy Khaling.
People are blaming Mindy Kaling more than she deserves. Like LavenderTowne pointed out, this show was still written by a middle aged white man.
She won't
@@moonieistired7263 Ooh this idea is really good
In the original series there were references to Shaggy doing track and gymnastics, so he could also be on a sports full-ride like Fred! If I were a track coach I’d definitely want the guy who can run as fast as a Great Dane, haha
As for major, newer media makes it so he loves making food as much as eating it, so a culinary track? Or even Hospitality with the intent to start a restaurant, maybe.
YES FRED AS AN ENGINEER
fuck yeah, this is what I’ve always thought.

But the van is Shaggy’s, so Fred just drives the stoner van because no one else can lol
What if Fred worked as a mechanic for his folks?

@@moonieistired7263 Yesss!!!! Such a great idea
So, here's my pitch:
A mysterious disappearance and fire has occured and Daphne is covering it real time for her followers.
To the Fred cussing thing, that reminds me of a video where the different characters would say their lines:
Velma: "Jinkies!"
Daphne: "Jeepers!"
Shaggy: "Zoinks!"
Scooby: "Ruh roh!"
Fred: "FUCK"

Normally I’m not one to judge a show before I see it, but Velma just felt off in a way I couldn’t describe until I saw the actual show.
It honestly felt like they wanted to make a different show but used the Scooby Doo IP just to get the show greenlit
I feel like with velma they tried not to overcomplicate the designs and the plot, trying to stay simple to appeal to a broader audience (ig??)
and, well, they failed. but I'm pretty sure the simplness was intentional
@@sarahelroub1800 that's exactly how I feel. Sure there is nothing wrong with the OG Velma designs on paper, but something about them didn't feel right. especially the promo.

I was thinking the same the thing!

Daphne - Media Major (her love of journalism)
Fred - Engineering major (his love of building traps)
Shaggy - Philosophy or art major (he is rather hippy-ish and i think he'd vibe with getting high and having Philosophical adventures or doing art)
Was gonna ask what Scooby's major would be til I realized what I was asking 💀 I love how their passions/roles in the gang align with their majors!
I like your imagination of the Scooby Gang.
I can picture Shaggy starting out as a more serious major because his parents wanted him to, but takes Philosophy fot a Gen Ed and never looking back.
Ooo mine is very similar! My version of them is:
Velma- Lit major OR forensic science
Daphne- Industrial design
Fred- Engineering
Shaggy- College dropout, but has his life together with work and hobbies
Mine's also very similar!
Velma: biomedical/forensics major
Daphne: fashion/creative writing
Fred: engineering
Shaggy: catering/food tech (he did make scooby snacks after all)
I love the idea of Scooby being a seeing eye dog. I was thinking that it would be cool if Shaggy was also a culinary student since it would go with his whole food thing and his class could be off campus so it could still coordinate with your idea. This way Scooby snacks could be introduced without being too forced as well.

Gentle giants are amazing irl and in media. I wish they actually did this for the Velma series
Hollywood is so stupid since they never learned that sex/cussing does not equal a higher maturity level
I could also see Fred being an engineering student, simply because in the original he loved making traps.

Plus the dynamics between Velma and Daphne at the end there suggest that Fred and Daphne aren’t together in her version, I feel like Lavender would hint to them dating, but she didn’t, they seem like best friends in her explanation of
Lavendertowne-Fred’s character if anything.
Feel free to argue with me, I just didn’t like how this just seems like the non-evil twin of “Velma.”
REAL and ong this leads the way for poly couple because daph confess that she likes velma and fred is like no way!!! i like shaggy.
velma likes daph and thinks shes stupid and its one sided meanwhile daph is pining and sending mixed signals, velma is confused because shes dating fred?!
shaggy is chill and obliviius and hes like "oh. i thought we were already kinda dating? daph is still your gf?"
"yes??? but i really like you and i want to date both of you"
cute poly couple antics ensue
LOVE this idea!!!
I mean in Zombie Island she becomes a news presenter intern or something so that totally makes sense. Her whole thing in that movie was trying to show REAL supernatural events after the gang got bored of it always being a man in a mask.
i love this SO much, yall are so creative. i never watched scooby doo growing up, but everyone’s ideas for what velma could’ve been is making me want to go binge it
@@foofung9961 Oh YEAAAAHHH!!! Man I haven't seen that movie since I was an itty bitty kiddy... scared the crap out of little me lol...
@@whenthemoon Oh I'd highly recommend it! Especially Mystery Incorporated! The dialogue is hilarious, the animation is stellar, and the writing is smart throughout! The old and classic Hannah Barbara's aren't bad though either if you want to watch a classic Saturday morning cartoon with some lines that aged a bit too well!
came rushing to see this cuz I am so tired of velma

Never been a fan of the 'adult animation' category anyways, but it really could've been so fun to have a Scooby-Doo reboot in the modern day. I love how you interpreted the potential for a show like that
It’s crazy that you can make a better ensemble of characters that look like their full of love than a whole group of professional animators and character designers.
I think the animators are not at fault here also the character designers have to keep their designs to the minds of the writers so really the writers are the biggest problem here because I think the animation as is looks really good
nah the art is really good?? not their faults the writers were shitty, you don’t need to shit on the animators
@@ticcitoasty I’m not shitting on them I just think her character illustrations fit so much better.
I really love it
I feel like modern Fred would have been *obsessed* with escape rooms :)
I love your approach to the cast, there’s so much love and care for the original characters. If only we could have a show in your style, with this kind of appreciation for the original. Scooby as a seeing eye dog is a brilliant concept. I wish we could see such a positive display of accommodation for the disabled people on TV
I can now not unsee Fred Jones obsessed with escape rooms! XD
NO WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!? YOU HAVE UNLEASHED A FLOOD THAT WE CANNOT CLOSE!
Oh my god he totally would love escape rooms
I love the idea of Shaggy and Scooby being a duo through visual impairment and service needs. It gives a great representation of these sorts of relationships and gives a reason for why Scooby is always in on their adventures. What an amazing idea.
Norville really is Shaggy's actual name! :) You hear his parents call him that a lot in mystery inc. as well as various other adults in the show.
Thank you for adding context!
I'm pretty sure they mention it in at least one of the first two live-action movies too. Why would anyone think "Shaggy" is his real name? That's clearly a nickname. All the other characters have entirely normal names.
@@Dreadjaws nah his parents named him shaggy even when he was a bald baby
It's much older than that! They call him norville in (I believe it's this year) 2000s Blair witch project short
that def makes sense, but i do feel like his nickname, Shaggy, just adds so much to his character! it's a super funny juxtaposition between having this... well shaggy looking dude have a super formal name like Norville, so his nickname reflects who is actually is instead of what his parents wanted him to be. just a thought though!!
10:25 One reason I hate the new Fred is because the old one was autistic coded, I mean it’s obvious special interest to the traps and mystery, not understanding social cues and stuff like that, and the new one is in literally walking joke for ablest, I am autistic myself and I find it really difficult cutting food and I ask for help from others
i promise this time i wont write any-
“Done.”
Daphne clicked the ‘publish’ button, waiting patiently for the video to upload full to the site before she clicked away from the studio tab and refreshed her channel tab, double checking that it had gone up okay.

@@annaewrites thanks imma edit it
I’m glad LavenderTowne made Daphne a fashion major, it’s very on-brand, also I can definitely see Fred crying over The Bachelor, just wanted to put that out there.
Lav immediately fixed one of the biggest problems without even changing the plot by making them not minors-- you know, for a show that's 75% about sex
I haven't seen the show, but why on earth would making them minors be a good idea? They were even already adults and they were making this for adults, why would they change that? Baffles my mind.
@@ThatOneLadyOverHere Exactly I'm pretty sure the only reasons were either because they were teens in the original iterations or because it would make their parents more relevant, but it shouldn't have been so either way
YES
Your redesign of Shaggy's my favorite I think, it'd make sense why he needs the dog around and why he's a bit more dramatically scared/stubborn about splitting up and going to somewhere potentially unsafe, but totally able to pull it off! :D
You wrote the show better than they did already 💀
I had the idea that him being blind made him cautious and others would mock him, calling him a coward
I know it's obviously far different from an actual show, but one of my characters is partially sighted from his albinism
@@Starrieyedhockey oh really? Cool!

It reminds me of the zombie island scooby doo movie where she has her tv show and she’s trying to find proof of the supernatural. I love it.
