ATO was unplayable if you had a full time job and a personal life, so I had to sell my ATO copy. Will people with an average level of commitments will be able to play this game?
@@Johan_Cohen my day by day struggle, what i do is that i play the same game for a lot of time, 1-2 chapter every 15 days (aprox 7+ hours of gaming) so maybe in a year i will have play it out alteast a campaing

@@EvenHH I went with the Special Edition core pledge. I might add some expansions later in the pledge manager. 110 hours for the four campaigns in the base game seem plenty by itself. Core pledge with stretch goals is always the safest, especially if during the campaign. Expansions are always the can't tell during campaigns
Chris, may I ask, did you played both missions or only the more guided first one? I ask because Mike from One Stop Co-op Shop forgot to put the "unknown enemy (species?)" in the setup of the 2nd mission. He is of the opinion that the enemy wouldn't have been raising difficulty or elevate the danger from the blibs. He was of the opinion that it was a boring and repetitive play. I couldn't see how that could be possible. Would love to hear your thoughts.
From the playthroughs I've seen, the prototype isn't doing the game any favors. Taking move/interact actions for two hours while pushing cardboard tokens around does indeed seem boring and repetitive. I don't doubt that the boss battles will be great when they happen, but that's not where most of the game time is. If it gets much more exciting later on, they really should have curated a spoiler-free slice for demos that showcase it.
@@jhowd78 I get that it simulates the movie Alien but there's a difference between being terrified of what's in the ventilation ducts for a two hour movie and potentially hundreds of hours as the core gameplay of a board game. YMMV but I could definitely see myself losing that tension after a dozen hours of blip pushing. Board games and movies are very different emotional storytelling media.
@@GoodEggGuy I rather solve a blibs pushing optimization puzzle, by me directing them, on a loop but part of a larger whole, than dealing with mind numbingly bad trash mob "AI", known from a lot of crawler like games. Yes I am very biased towards Enormity but I believe the statement still holds.
If you want your game sooner, KF. It's close to shipping. You could be playing it March or April while you'd be waiting a bit for this one still. For me, KF is really focused on telling the story of a person (your knight) and seeing the world through them. Enormity is telling the story of the world first (like AT:O) and your spacer as a distant second. Enormity feels a little easier to do a shorter single session play of from what I've seen, which may make it easier to table. Both should allow pretty good drop in and drop out depending on who can make your board game night. That said, all this is very liable to change, as KF has changed SIGNIFICANTLY since it was in campaign stage. Would be shocked if Enormity doesn't evolve over time, too.
@@jasonhine1194 I'm all-in on KF and amped for that to ship. Limited KS budget means deciding between Enormity and Avalon: The Riven Veil at the moment.

Apples to granola bars comparison. But for me right now this type of interaction and less narrative is more appealing as KF has more narrative/text as a whole
Too expensive and infinite upkeep - play card, move a bit, count the number of dice you need for noise roll, roll for noise, use tokens/stress, move blips, play card, move another bit, roll for noise, use tokens/stress, move blips, play card, move adrenaline, add tokens to pool, interact, roll for check, use tokens/stress, remove tokens, move tokens - regular turn for one character?! Definitely try it on TTS before considering buying!
Honestly, 2-3 year wait is really wat kills crowdfunding these days for me. I'll just spend my money on great games I can play, and know I'll play, right now.
You know that's what crowdfunding supposed to be. When it wasn't just a pre-order platform like today. Some publishers do indeed still develop and don't just put out a finished product and are raising manufacturing fees.
@@timwanger4491 I know what it's supposed to be, but it's not +500$ all-ins for games that are barely developed that you'll get in 3 years time if you are lucky. And I'm fine with a pre-order platform but then I'm not waiting 3 years for the game to arrive when I can buy games I can buy and play right now. And crowdfunding these days, at least in EU, most of the time isn't even cheaper compared to retail anyway.
2-3 years? ATO wave 2 delivered after 5 years (wave 3 and 1/2). KF almost 4 years for wave 1. 2-3 years, looking at therir tracking records seems to be optimistic.

@@Remiremi-m3n For me, if it's sci-fi then make it interesting. We've had too many games that lean on the word 'grimdark' as an excuse for everything being drab brown and black. YMMV of course and I salute you if this is right up your street.
Yeah, base if you like standees is really reasonable and special edition ($139) is a crazy amount of minis for the price of you like minis (what would GW charge you for 55 32mm minis 😂). Think there's going to be plenty of content in the base for most people.
Then don't go all in? Do you really need every expansion, every additional mini, extra weapons (duplicates of weapons that are in core), art book, journal, extra dice etc? Base game offers 100h+ of campaign gameplay + endlessly replayable custom campaigns and that is only 139$. Saying that 550$ is too much is a weird take considering there is no reason to go all in....
