Bombardier Global 7500: Here's What It's Like to Fly - AIN

  • The clue is in its name and Bombardier certainly built its latest Global 7500 jet to operate worldwide, connecting continents with flights as long as 7,700 nautical miles. So, what does it take for pilots to get the best of a high-performance aircraft like that? AIN editor-in-chief Matt Thurber found out when he had the chance to go flying alongside a pair of the manufacturer’s pilots. Let’s just say, flight crew seem only too happy to stay in the cockpit for its long-haul missions.

    I live on a farm in Namibia, not too far from the airport (HKI) and i see all types fly over. I am amassed by planes more so the biz-jets . One day i had to pick a favourite and it was the Global Express 700. Our neighbors (Botswana) have one OC1, Namibian president flies the Falcnon 9X. This 7500 jet is my new favourite. Oh yeah!

    • @rcairflr
      @rcairflr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @yung > The FBW system allows for a lot of good design features including safety. The Control Laws in the Global 7500 will not allow the airframe or flight control surfaces to be overstressed. The pilot could be flying at maximum speed and either push the sidestick full forward or pull it full aft and the Control Laws in the fly by wire would not allow the aircraft to go beyond its limits. It is a very good system and works very well. It also has a tremendous amount of redundancy built into it to make it very, very reliable.
      Another benefit is reduced maintenance.

    • @rcairflr
      @rcairflr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@niilespunkari8832 > The displays on the G7500 are not touch screens. They are controlled by a mouse located on the Cursor Control Panel located on the center pedestal. At 1:33 you can clearly see the Cursor Control Panel to the right of the pilots hip. The black hump has a trackball installed on it. On the lower display you can see the cursor on the display just off to the right of the center of the display

    • @rcairflr
      @rcairflr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 4 large aircraft displays are not touchscreen. They have a panel/trackball that you can control them from on the Center pedestal. The displays on the far left/right are not part of the Avionics system. They are add on. Look at 1:29, the panel on the Center pedestal that is to the left of the throttles and the spoler handle is the Cursor Control Panel, it is what is used to manipulate the Displays. The black hump on the panel is where the pilot rests his hand and has access to control buttons and trackball.
