      @hugocastilla3102 ปีที่แล้ว +249

      @@trentoninnewjersey a leitmotiff is a musical piece asociated to something, a character, a place, a situation, etc. For example, for the original Spider-Man trilogy there was the Spider-Man Theme that represents the saga. But there's also the Responsability Theme, a leitmotiff that is asociated to emotional moments or when Peter faces the choices of a hero.
      In this case, Super Mario Galaxy has it's theme. But the duology itself is represented mostly by the Gusty Garden Theme. That's why I called it the Mario Galaxy leitmotiff

    Gusty Garden Galaxy in reality is a random not too special level from the tail end of the game. It serves no large story or gameplay purpose. It’s not the triumphant end of the game, nor the climax or beginning, it’s just a plant level. Yet it’s melody existing even in the same game’s credits is proof that Nintendo knew even before we did that this would become one of the most beloved pieces of videogame music in existence

    • @irishjet2687
      @irishjet2687 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      The Buoy Base Galaxy theme is similar in that it's an amazing piece of music that is confined, in its original game, to a largely insignificant level. Unfortunately, that level is even shorter than Gusty Garden Galaxy, with only one full star and one green star to get. Also, the Buoy Base theme does not get NEARLY the same level of love as GGG's theme.

      The funny part is, composer Mahito Yokota was basically forced to write music like this after his boss, Koji Kondo, pulled rank. But Kondo got in Miyamoto's ear and insisted the music needed to be orchestrated, and the rest is history.

It was so impactful in IMAX since the surround sound was so immersive! Mario Galaxy is my favorite game ever! Hearing Gusty Garden Galaxy makes me smile! Glad I stuck around during the credits, because I did not wanna leave behind any Mario fun! Even though most of Galaxy's music didn't make it into the movie, I'm glad Gusty Garden made its way into it! Brian Tyler knew exactly what he was doing: He wanted to drive us Galaxy nerds down memory lane with this! Gusty Garden isn't just a Mario theme that will be remembered from the late 2000s, but for a lifetime!

      @gregoryballinger3455 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well composed??? He didn’t compose it. And it has no countermelodies or rhythms. It’s one of the plainest versions of the motif. People are confusing it as some great rendition of it simply becuase it was in the movie. The original and what was in Galaxy 2 are far better and fuller versions.

    • @itznotepik
      @itznotepik ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@gregoryballinger3455 Brian Tyler composed the Level Complete version. And it was a good rendition, he didn't copy and paste it. He used the same motifs, but made a different version of it.

    They must've known back then when Mario Galaxy hit store shelves in the late 2000s that this theme would become not just synonymous with Mario, but also with the vastness of space and one's own trials and tribulations in a Mario game.
    Not only did it transcend Super Mario Galaxy, becoming a part of Super Mario Galaxy 2's main theme, but also coming back for the hardest challenge of that game. And the games that came after.
    They must have known they struck gold back then. They must've known.
    Something about it just breaks Mario Fans in a way no other piece does.
    It's filled with joy, excitement, satisfaction, passion... It's truly something beautiful. Something so precious and borderline perfect that that even when they try to put as many spins on it as possible, it's still perfectly recognizable.
    You can just tell, "It's Gusty Garden Galaxy!"
    And you just can't get enough of it, can you? I know I can't. TH-cam knows I can't.
