He Was A Dark Man! ~ Untouched Abandoned Mansion of Mr. Jean-Louis

    Mister Jean-Louise…
A descendant from the Depont family that have been living in this picturesque French town since the beginning of the 16th century. The family Depont still resides in the town but Jean-Louis passed away around a decade ago, however, nobody seems to care about the belonging and memories that he left behind. Many people around town speculate that it is due to the chocking and dark display of taxidermy animals that can be seen throughout the house. Mister Jean-Louis started becoming obsessed with hunting after his wife passed away, and his children moved out, he was a very secluded person and could mostly be found inside his home or in the nearby Forrest. His house is a reflection of him and tells a much deeper story than we would have ever expected when we first walked inside.
Let’s go through what remains and let’s put the pieces of the puzzle back together.

Hi Leslie & crew. Recently discovered your channel. Now I can't stop binge watching. As someone who reads quite a lot of nonfiction on time periods you are entering I wanted to mention that it was quite normal for the children to be raised by a governess or nanny. This may explain the small, barren rooms you find throughout these homes. And it was also common that after dinner the men and women would separate. The men for smoking and drinking, men subject conversation. The women for tea, afterwards they would meet up for entertainment, music, piano or solo singing.

Heyy dear Lesley, how are you doing my friend?! - Wow, that's again an absolutely fascinating mansion you found in France. I am
completely amazed by the craftmanship of the furniture with the intricate carvings. Although the main living room is holding
beautiful furniture, I also find the display of the taxidermy animals very disturbing to see, - but that is something, you find from
time to time in houses of rich people and in castles. When you were showing the menu card I found behind you on the marble top
of the cabinet a beautiful vase manufactured in cameo glass, - from the art nouveau period. And - the huge mirror has a typical art
deco shaped frame. Absolutely beautiful!! - Wow, - and the clock with the lady and the peacock on the chimney mantlepiece
together with the two matching side urns is after my opinion a legit masterpiece of the art deco period. As far as I could see
the lady statue is made probably of bronze and ivory in combination, called "chryselephantine". The most famous artist of the
early 20-th century, who made overwhelminmgly beautiful masterpieces of statues in this techniqe, was Demetre Chiparus,
who was born in Romania and mainly worked in Paris. - I presume, that set is alone a fortune worth! So amazing to see!
Also this lamp on the ceiling of the hallway is pure art deco. - Every room was a surprise of its own!! So many smaller antiques
standing on the mantlepieces and in beautifully carved display cabinets,... and so on. - In one bedroom there was a corner shelf with very
different items, and I saw two typical tin wind up toy figures from the german toy company "Schuco", presumably from
the prewar period. - But on the other hand there was one rather disturbing detail visible: a turned down crucifix over a bed! - Actually
a very sinister sight! - And -then again I also loved that beautifully furnished living room with th red art deco armchairs and
an absolutely amazing amount of different antiques everywhere visible in this room. - The beautiful velvet curtains add ideally
to the rich and elegant atmosphere of this room.
Walking in mind together with you through all these rooms really made my heart jump! I was nearly speechless to see so many
well preserved antiques from different art historical periods. Absolutely overwhelming! - This is after my opinion one of your
best and most spectacular explores you were doing in France, - a true time capsule in partially museal quality, which should
    by all means be preserved.
Thank you so much for taking us on tour through such an exceptionally beautiful mansion. - Wishing you still a lot more fun
together with Maureno in the USA. Stay safe and many hugs, my dear friend and bro! - God bless you all! - Peace and kindest regards!

That’s funny, probably they did the same thing this guy did to get inside...use the window. They most likely barricaded the door because they wanted to go back in & finish taking items which they deemed sellable. I’m sure tons of stuff was stolen from that house.

Watched this last night. I am wondering the vibes you got from this house. There is evidence of evil doings.... the hanging foxes, the many naked statues, the upside-down crucifix over the bed, and most of all, the secret room in the attic bodes ominous. Also the fact that the house was left virtually untouched by the children, a sign that they don't want anything to do with it anymore, or the stuff their parents owned. My intuition kicked in on this one.

The decay is so minimal that it leads me to believe this house was lived in until about 2 decades ago, maybe less because of the shoe boxes and the particularly the "Mephisto" shoe brand which I personally know debut in early 1980s.
At 30:16 looking into the armoire, are those several boxes of Il de France puzzles stacked on the upper shelf?
It would be interesting to know their publication date bc the font is very modern. So many questionable artifact dates and it looks like a museum left in this arrangement for private tours. This house is at least being guarded and maintained.
So far, this may be my favorite of your explorations, but to be fair, I am new to your channel so I have a lot to catch up on!

I like all of the stuffed animals. Taxidermy is not a desecration of animals, but designed to honor them. We get to see real animals up close that most of us would only see pictures of. I like that they have been captured in active poses. I still have the mounted deer antlers and a beautiful trout fish my father had taxidermied.

I love this house! I’m surprised that the family didn’t move in, people are usually in need of money, by necessity or greed, so the relatives are missing out on this house, and..maybe his money? Was he a rapist, serial killer, pedophile, war criminal? Only a thing like that might stop someone, what a waste! 20:22

Hey Lesley, Interesting explore, indeed! Your question at 29:10; yes, too many people smoked, and still smoke, in the bedroom, even in the bed. One source in the USA reports 311deaths from fires started by smoking in bed in 2022 already, more than 100 per month. (Joint Base San Antonio. US Department of Defense)

Being of age and how to manage the sequence of returns in those early periods is what seems quite scary in the current market. The market is never a loser in the twenty year cycle, but the 2000s decade scenario scares me and could really disrupt my retirement. When you're no longer accumulating but withdrawing, it's hard to be anything but cautious.

@@kristyluna8527 Apparently that's true, I agree. It is mostly disastrous for newbies or anyone who doesn't adhere to a well thought-out strategy and over all, a professional broker.

Wow, I'm just shocked someone mentioned and recommended expert Mrs Diana Lynne Bobka.
I thought people don't really know her.
I invested £ 2,000 with Mrs Diana Lynne Bobka after i met her at a conference in London, she made me profit of £ 11,790 in just 7- 14 days of trading with her and i invested more.

What a beautiful time capsule, the antique furniture are amazing but I don't like stuffed animals. It's hard to see this and it hurts so much😭I will never understand why people shoot animals just for fun,it's disrespectful to the animals to stuff them and then display them as decorations or furniture like this. It's cruel!!!So thank for the video.Have nice weekend!

I'm fascinated by the wallpaper in this house. On first impression, the designs look 1930's but I've not seen so many as striking as these geometric/floral prints. The one in the hallway and the up the staircase was very bold, almost as if it was designed in Minecraft, haha.
Maybe, they are specifically French and somewhat niche; definitely Art Deco!
