I'm gonna say it.. I love this more than some other big ones (Komi-san, etc).
They were unafraid to show some real teenage expression, and the characters are so believably flawed, not some goofy thing or turning it into a superpower.. just, regular teenagers.
I felt I was more engaged and invested with this show compared to the others.

I’m glad you saw the appeal right away. Yamada is an absolute goober who just happened to be born with perfect supermodel genetics and Ichikawa is a chunni emo kid with a crush.
Only gets better from here, I’m excited for more.
I loved that him liking a girl changed his chunni side from wannabe murderer to seeing a representation of himself that looks like a character from a romcom lol
I don't comment often but I audibly gasped when I saw you're reacting to this gem of a romance. This show is peek and I'm glad you've decided to give it a chance. I didn't know about this series before the anime but after watching I'm going to buy the manga in full after it's completely finished.
One of the best romance stories right now! I actually hate the first episode of this but it keeps getting better and better each episode
It's kinda in the same boat as Nagatoro 😅
The first 10-11 chapters are tricky to get through sure but once it gets going, things DO take a turn for the better!
@@maazshaikh5996yeah season 2 of Nagatoro is actually such a good rom-com. And the chapters after it in the Manga are actually some of the best rom-com moments for me. Certainly better than the second half of My Dress-up Darling...
@@ghostphil6030 The main problem with 'My Dress-Up Darling' imo is that it's a monthly series.
This is probably why the overall pace feels much slower when compared to other rom-coms that came around it's Season 1 release (eg: Komi Can't Communicate, Nagatoro, Shikimori is a Cutie, The Dangers in My Heart, etc.)
@@maazshaikh5996 True, though the pacing in general was a bit bad. A bit too much focus on cosplay without progressing the romance. And lately there are so many new characters that look so similar. Sometimes I don't even know who Marin is.
Nagatoro manga and dangers in my heart manga are such gems for romcom enjoyers, especially how things are going recently with the nagatoro manga
Glad you saw through Ichikawa from just the first ep, which many viewers fail to do including manga readers. He ain't a psycho or anything. He does like those kinds of things and aesthetic but he's a good person at heart.
He just has chuunibyou.

Didn't expect to like this romance show as much as I ended up liking it. Being that it starts off slow but ramps up to adorable levels quickly.
Recently started watching this so this is a well-timed drop. I hesitated to check Dangers in spring because Ichikawa seemed creepy. But he’s really such an awkward duck that he borders on adorable. Dunno what to make of Anna but she’s pleasantly weird.
