The boy is blessed with a great mother!:) and the parents.. are blessed with a lovely kid:)
it's very nice to watch this because he is not just a very talented boy, but he also enjoys it too and chooses to play himself. He isn't forced by his parents to practice... it's just nice
i love how he's playing and looking at the crowd at the SAME TIME!!!
yes, encourage the children!!! I'm so thankful for being around parents who were musical, and although they never pushed or much encouraged me, I was able to pick up just enough to play music by ear and I was a prolific composer for a time. ENCOURAGE THEM!!
I love the boy picking his nose at the end of his playing. My son (same age) just does the nose picking. LOL. So sweet he plays for his parents to dance. What a sweet boy with such a talent. Good luck!
I love how he picks hes nose right at the end :)
Yep, it's primal :-) The sign of a great artist.
The true prodigy is the mother and her teaching method.
Oh my gosh! I learned this song a couple of years ago! Brings back so many memories~ Keep on rocking, Richard!
I think the mother is wonderful! What a great idea to use colors to teach her son the notes, and to let him push himself rather than forcing him to practice. I think he will love the piano for many years to come. Brilliant!
I love how he's playing on a steinway
Precious. I like the fact the mother is letting his talent develop naturally and her creative piano instruction. Bravo!
I liked that she said he just does it on his own, no pushing from parents. Obviously she is helping him but she's not pushing him to practice, practice, practice and that is why the performance was so real and endearing. This showed when he was looking at something in the audience and lost tempo for a second--totally a 3 year old thing to do, he wasn't drilled and drilled and drilled. This is great!
mother: "now, use the peddles"
son: D:
I hope he becomes one of the best piano players in the world one day.
😝
Awesome! I love him, he brought me tears of joy because he is so gracefully! Congratualtions!!!!!!!
I had a similar experience and i ended up with a deep trauma… but this mom… she’s so caring about the child! And if the kid likes it then it’s totally fine! Honestly she seems like such a caring mother, i wish their family the best
Where is his smile? Talented, though!
First
That's great beginning.
That was very beautiful and I loved to see the big smile on the face of the proud mother at the end.
i just love the way he looks into the audience with those lovely eyes and picks his nose at the end, aww, so cute....

Good job people.
I, too, was very talented when I was a child, I even was composing my own music. I started to take piano lessons late, when I was 12 years old, and when I was 15 it was over. I had only one parent who couldn't afford educating me and who was not in music. This kid's mother is very smart. Big bravo for her. I hope Richard will realize that and be very grateful to her one day. I am back to the piano now but I am already old.It is difficult to learn but I love it.
i love the fact that he is sitting in his chair during an interval sipping his orange juice drink xx
Dad: (accent) You doctor yet
Son: im only 12
Dad: Talk to me when you doctor
Oh,nice ,using colour to sensitif the memories .Sure, some person use symbol, sound ,feel .
What an Amazing Mother to Incorporate Colors with Musical Notes to Learn the Piano... I Need Her in My Life!!💕🥰💕
I started playing piano at one using a very similar method. My mom taught me the notes of the piano, instead of with colors, with the alphabet. I learned to read sheet music at the same time as books and learned the letters a-g with "sharp" and "flat" in between at first so I could then point out the different notes later that day. Based on this personal experience, I have to say, the color trick is GENIUS! Seeing that it seems easier, that is definitely how I'll teach my child. Btw, Richard is
who PICKS THERE NOSE AT THE END
Super epic
How wonderful is this!
And what a GREAT mom!
im watching this 11 years later... this guy must be good
Alright calm down he is only three, everyone in here that says hes shit or whatever needs to be reminded of what they where doing when they where three.
LOL 2:32 hes digging for gold there XD
great idea. i had that same idea over 20 years ago when i was teaching people to read music who did not know how to read or play. took the simple c scale and applied what you have taught your son! this is a great start for you son and you have done marvelous... yeah
This kid is doing really well! I'm in my 6th year of piano but haven't taken it seriously until a few months ago. Still, I realize how hard it can seem to play pieces perfectly in front of a big audience. I think that color coordinating piano keys is a really good idea, because my problem when I was little was counting from middle C and thinking, "Okay, that's A sharp!" It's much easier to make the connection of orange-orange.
1:42 Richard, (turns around) "Oooh what's that over there! Oh... it's just a bird out side....wow it flew away...oh well.... *continues playing like a pro*
Well, take the fact that he's 3 years old...
the picking the nose at the end is so freakin hilarious and perfect way to end it.. whomever thought to include that really made the world a little bit better with that beautiful humor.. it would have been lost to the world but now is immortalized.. good job.
What a special boy.....a real talent. Keep following your dreams! xx
He's sneaking under the piano at 1:36
2:32 he picks his nose
so cute! love the views of him drinking from a bottle, crawling under the piano.....and then sitting up so straight and playing the piano~ that's amazing!
This is a brilliant technique that the mother thought of!! My hat is off to her!!!!
1:38 he crawls under the piano
He has been forced to play
This little man is extraordinary. I was 3 when i started playing, but i was not near his area. Thanks for posting. maurice
Wonderful music and very inspiring! Through out history child prodigies have always annoyed and made some people fiercely jealous - now is no different! LOL As a fellow musician, I just say vive la différence - cheers to music and all the variety of people that contribute to it!
This little man has a great future and a great mum.
Matt
perhaps it is the reincarnation of Mozart.
I don't think you should generalize that it is a big phenomenon in Asia. This may be happening all over the world, that is such a stereotype
Amazing and inspiring! What a cute, bright little boy! I could see the other little one in the audience (his brother?) was really enjoying the music too. I have a feeling I'm going to be enjoying his music again a few years down the road! (hope so)
WOW!!! What a great child!! So smart and talented with such a bright future ahead of him. I wonder what he's up to now??? I bet that he is having a great time at college not getting in any trouble or shenanigans!!!
Speak less an let him play
Why do you have to add colours to the piano? This is why asians get stereotyped.
Soooooo Beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
Wow..He's really talented!! God bless him!!
great editing!!!
This woman is really clever, to chose colours for the notes that he can learn it even better!
The way he is sitting there drinking his apple juice in his Tux like a boss! That boy has more class and wisdom than me!
"he was more engage by himself" lol, we can clearly see that with him having fun by himself under the piano at the background. perfect timing.
there's a boy, who's gifted. by just listening he'll learn any music. just give him minutes or hours to learn it by himself. He came from a poor family, just one time someone donated a piano in their school.
Ok. A few things to say. First: WOW. I'm 12 years old. I play piano. I'm learning Canon and Moonlight Sonata, and even though those songs are WAY better than him doing a simple chorus, you have to remember: He's 3. I'm not entirely sure that I was able to WALK at 3, much less even playing ANY notes on ANY Piano, with or without the "Rainbow Method"! Second: I encourage this young man to keep playing the piano and learning for a long time; it is a beautiful instrument and he handles it. Bravo!
you're right, I was eating crayons at that age, but nothing tasted better than listening to well played music
Very lovely intelligent boy. He will play very well. God bless you.
What a good mother What a blessed family 💕
I've heard that true music genius are able to associate colours with the music that they hear/make. Then, this one must really be a champ.
Thankfully, I was blessed with playing piano by ear when I was this age. Though good job for him.
Congratulation for your boys piano talent. He has motivate me to keep playing piano.
Take care of you great son.
hugs and kisses.

Beautiful!!
He's a talented young child with dedicated, caring parents who are not interested in "instant gratification" but in a long life of caring and satisfaction. Race has nothing to do with it. It's dedication, fun with a project and involved parents!. You're never too young nor too old to learn something new. Give it a shot with as much dedication and less social media as he has.
wow, grate mom you taught so differently and fantasticaly. good luck for your son
Genuinely awesome!
OMG! This will make piano learning easier!
I first learned to play with colored notes and a strip that went behind the keys with corresponding colors. I've been trying to find those books, but haven't seen them. I'm 44, so this is an idea that's been around. He's taken it to a higher level, though. Good job!
He will be a great performer at this rate. I never saw a 3 year old do this.
i was going to thumbs up for the cuteness. but the finger in the nose at the end was just to amusing ^^
I agree. People thumbs down your post out of sentimental feeling about kids. But you are correct. Prodigy he is not.
oh my gosh, credit to the mother she makes her son a genius!
Good going. Little one,,keep it up..I love piano..
😊
My son learnt to play the piano when he was around 3. His teacher, Pauline Abraham used colours in the same way. That was in 1980!!!!
that's over ten years ago I did !! and She has done a book and tested on your son?? I can't believe it! that's incredible !!
thankyou richard and thank your mom and dad
Aww he's so cute & talented! :)
that is a greatway to teach colors and music at the same time
Around language acquisition development... I guess he can actually become fluent and an expert easily, like how speaking comes naturally to us. Bravo for this discovery!
How cool that your son has a great mom:)
he's a friggin baby! that's awesome!!
That's actually a smart way to learn piano. If he learns by making between connection of colours to notes, it will improve his memory.
Prodigy means someone young who has talent in something and will be amazing at when their older
Love how he's just crawling around and sipping his bottle.
Muy bien!! Su hijo lo toca muy excelente!! Ojalá que su hijo lo toca por muchos años!
I would love to purchase her book!
hes really good. some kids don't even know how to talk till they're like, four. and he's playing the piano, which i think is a lot harder. kudos to the kid.
Wow! That is so smart to do!!! Good thinking!!
Friggin' amazing.
So Cute and talented, I believe he will do very well in the future...
soo cute after playing the piano like an adult at the end his just a cute lil boy and picks his nose..so adorable =)
HOLY SHIT I PLAYED THIS SONG FOR MY EXAM........... AND I'M IN YEAR 7.......... HOW TALENTED IS THIS LITTLE DUDE
Wow! So it's not only the asian children that have huge talent, the parents are really smart at learning them!
wow! everybody praise the boy (well I can't blame anybody...) but I think mother deserve at least as much praise as him; the idea of coloring the notes, it's amazing...
