bidencope's mallet is a bob jackson (NZ i think). the striking surface used to be 1/2" polycarbonate, then 3/4" delrin? and then some gray synthetic. delaware croquet club had many, i had a polycarbonate one (stolen) then the gray one, aluminum shaft, 9". jim hughes won the "96 nationals with one, having to beat mik mehas twice. 9" mallets are great, carleton mabee won with a 9" fishstick in 1994, osborn played with a 9" hoy, fulford with a dawson? stop shots are great. i had a 9" jake nylon mallet and bill byrne won the newport ('94) stop shot contest with it. gc need not apply.
