    I've been using the sylvania bulb guide for over 10 years now. It has helped with many of the vehicles I've owned.

    I am so happy you shared the Sylvania Bulb Guide. I am in the market for changing my stock lights on a 2017 Kia Optima LX to LEDs OR HIDs, but once I started seeing all those numbers I got intimidated. Hell, listening to you in this video almost sounds like Japanese, but, thank you for sharing that link so I know what to look for. I look forward to watching more of your vids.

    I use that tool for around 12 years or so, when it was only a homepage with data. But I'm still learning new bulb models

    I've been using for a long time before when it just list it all as one grouping. I've even save the list in my notes so that I have it later for quick look up if I forget. I always recommend people to look at if they don't know what bulb to get.

    "If its a wedge bulb, it's a T10". Here I was confused why there were so many different looking T10 bases. now it makes sense. It's a particular... *style* of bulbs.

    Thank you for pointing me in the direction of the Sylvania bulb guide. I’m gathering the parts needed to upgrade or possibly destroy the headlamps on my e60. I’m going to wear my newly purchased FlyRyde hoodie and it better have some Jedi Powers to guide me along. BTW a 194 bulb fits most of the bulbs in my Star Wars coin op dot matrix pinball machine. (Old nerd alert).

    I always just google for "modifiedlife corolla bulb guide" or any other car I need to find the bulb size for, it lists all of the bulb sizes and where they belong, but thanks for this other option I was not aware of.

    I really love your channel, my question is what if your headlight lense are "fluted". You can't put LED lights into a fluted lense it will scatter the light you need projection with a clear lens . Are there other options for this?

    Hey, Fly--do you have any insight how to install load resistors and how to go about figuring out which ones you need?

  • @Alex-CA

    So any bulb type can work as a replacement for another, so long as the connector is the same as original?

  • @dsarquez
    @dsarquez 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    By the way, if you're not in North America be careful some cars have different setups in other countries, for example renegades in America work with H3 as headlight bulbs and in South America they use a set of H4s

    • @flyryde
      @flyryde  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What car has H3 headlights?

    • @dsarquez
      @dsarquez 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flyryde Jeep Renegades, those in Brazil for example run with full led on the top end models or H4 on mid to low trims. Also the backup lights where you have the Xs on the tail lights those are W16W amber for blinkers and in the right side of the bumper you have a single white W16W... Bad bad lighting for backing up

      Aldevern Jobe hey brother, we’re well, just struggling to find a good schedule during the whole stay at home thing. Best wishes to your fam as well 🙏
      So yeah, whatever you’re replacing, you need to provide the equivalent load so the car isn’t thinking something is wrong. I’ve had a crazy lot of trouble getting the exact load resistors for the Aston Martin I did a while back.
      Eventually we found the perfect one and it’s doing a great job months and months later 👍

    Been using Sylvania's website for at least a decade I reckon? Many years. It would be good to get some in depth info on the specific differences between the 168, 194, 921, T10, T15..... Specific example. The factory bulb for the 15+ WRX c-light is a halogen 168. Is there any risk in putting a T15 or 921 in its place? Other than physical size. The 921 is rated for 18W but is an LED vs a 168 Halogen rated at 4.9w.

    • @flyryde
      @flyryde  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only different with LED is gonna be the size. I don’t think a T15 will fit. For the most part my approach is pretty basic: any T10 based bulb I can throw a super strong LED bulb in, I do. Ratings of the factory bulbs haven’t really ever been a factor, since the LED bulbs done use nearly as much power, and shine way brighter. If it fits, use it 👍

    • @jamesg8246
      @jamesg8246 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flyryde But isn't the wattage an issue if a 4.9w halogen bulb is replaced with a 21w led bulb in the same location? The LED bulb would draw far more current than the halogen equivalent. Though LED's are far more efficient and may not necessarily generate more heat like the halogen bulb does. But that current has to go somewhere.

    • @flyryde
      @flyryde  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      James G the only 21w LED bulb you’ll typically find is a lowbeam or fog light. What T10 bulb has 21w??

    • @jamesg8246
      @jamesg8246 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flyryde sorry, 18W. It's been shown that a 921 LED can fit in the factory c light spot for the 15+ WRX but it's an 18w bulb where a 4.9w halogen bulb was originally used.

    • @flyryde
      @flyryde  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      James G the 18w bulbs is a glass incandescent 921. That’d be pretty dumb to bother with, instead of using an LED bulb that’s brighter with way less wattage.
