I saw Albert headline the Juneteenth Blues Festival in Houston around this time in the mid 80's. He opened with Listen Here & didn't let off the gas the whole night. One of the best showman to ever set foot on a stage.
Mr. Collins stands out as One of the best blues players ever. He and his men show blues-playing in its purest form in "If money was trouble".The saxophonist is priceless.on this tune. But Mr, Collins nails it to the wall with his pulsating bassist timely kicking in the background.
The sax player Abb Locke has left us. He was a good friend of mine. I got to meet and hang out with Albert and Johnny Gayden a few times between sets. That whole band was cool. Great bunch of guys.
The Master of the Telecaster, a top Blues guitarist, unable to copycat, which is by itself insane due to his unique technique, admired and loved by his famous top blues colleagues BB King, SRV, and Buddy Guy. I'm very fortunate to have seen Albert and band about 10 X mid late 80s to early 90s. I was very fortunate to take a Blues Cruise around the island of Manhattan with about a hundred of us lucky people and Albert and band. Under the Brooklyn Bridge up to the Statue of Liberty it doesn't really get better than that I'm telling you right now. Haven't thought about it in a while but watching these videos reminds me of all the greatness. I was at Carnegie Hall for his concert and at the after-party in New York City for an All-Star Jam. I cherish these X getting very close to him. Got to tell him I love him
