"The Big 10 TV contract obv caught my eye, I figure I've done this turnaround a couple times before, so lets do it on a bigger stage." I love this dude
As a JMU alumnus it was tough seeing Curt leave. He was a first class coach and we were always within reach of a perfect season with him. Then he took about half of our starters with him which stung (guess that’s life when you are successful and not in a power 5). Now I’m happy for him and rooting him on. He’s a great coach and deserves this success. Hope he can help get some of my former Dukes drafted too!
@@zplapplapright on. It’s hard for smaller programs to compete when they are successful then loose that much talent. It affirms the success we had last year and makes our 7-2 season thus far pretty impressive.
Same here, gut punch to see him leave but thankful I was there all 4 years he was as well. If Curt was still there I thought JMU was the G5 dark horse for the new CFP format. I had a feeling he was gonna make Indiana football exciting this year, but I didn’t realize what his capabilities were with more resources. Hope they lock him down for years to come
Bob Chesney has been a great hire so far. I’m excited to see what he will do with JMU (until he gets poached). Not ideal but if the good hires keep happening, JMU will stay relevant as one of the best G5 schools in the nation. I do not miss the FCS one bit
I've thought the same. Very similar personalities. God bless Coach Cignetti! Thankful for everything he has done at IU in such a short time...just like Coach Knight.
Patrick could have been a bit better on his prep for this interview but always good to hear from Coach Cig and his many talents as a refreshing CFB character...Cig is a healthy combo of Knight, Corso and Holtz! Stay 'humble and hungry' and I hope you stay at IU for 12-15 yrs! He's already earned some measure of Hoosier immortality! Thanks, Coach, we Hoosier fans are very appreciative!
there is no chance in hell someone doesn't write this guy a blank check.... but i hope to God and i pray that he stays at IU, we have waited a long time for this man
I saw a figure earlier today and it was 8 figures and would place him in the top 5 of college coach earnings. Don't know if that's true, but I do know the negotiations are going on right now.
Coach… We love you in Indiana. Your fan base in Bloomington is behind you and the team 1000% I will personally donate money from the little bit I make to make sure you stay with us for life Take us to the promised land Coach Cig Bout to bet Ohio State by 40!!!
Pacers doing good, Painters "Paintin" in Lafayette, Notre Dame doing ok, IU football awesome run, Caitlin, Skenes debut for the Indy Indians, Colts blowing another season and destroying another talent... Good to be a Hoosier in 2024.
He’s alive and well in Ryan Day’s head. 😂 Coach Holtz might not know where he’s at, at all times. But, people DO know where he’s at, at all times. He’s not hard to find, pal.
"the HC of the 5th-ranked team in the country" ... that hasn't played a single team currently in the top 8 of the Big 10 standings! And played only a FCS team and 2 weak non-P5 teams in the non-conference! It's a joke! They've played literally nobody -- the best of which is a bad Michigan team, in Bloomington, that IU was lucky to beat by only 5 points. IU should be nowhere near the CFP unless they beat OSU convincingly this Saturday.
They've beaten teams by an average of 30 points. They beat Nebraska 56-7, which Ohio State struggled with and won by 4 against. And they beat Michigan State and Northwestern by almost exactly the same margin as Ohio State beat those teams. You can only play who's on your schedule, and Indiana has beaten the brakes off everyone they played except Michigan. They pass the eye test.
@@nafdu1 The one reason to think IU has a chance vs OSU is their comparative results vs Neb. The problem is, IU has played nobody! Most of the teams in the top half the Big 10 would be 10-0 on IU's schedule. Every team fighting for a spot in the cfp should be furious with the Big 10 Office for handing IU this sham of a schedule. And on top that, IU bought out Louisville to avoid playing one decent team out of conference.
Gee Wiz. A football coach who is tough. He's of the coaching tree of Bill Belichick, Nick Saban, Kirk Ferentz, Jim Schwartz, etc..... Not sure Ol Dem dan likes that kind of people.
Why does this coach keep dodging the fact that he killed the momentum factor going into the half when he decided not to move the ball down the field when Indiana had a minute and a half with 2 time outs and instead ran the clock out. If he decides to do that same thing against Ohio State they will bury you in the second half. Once again, Dan Patrick doesn't ask the tough questions.

Ten JMU transfers started against Michigan. This says a lot, IMO. 👍🏽

Yep...I saw on Sunday that IU is negotiating with him to keep him at Indiana, they are basically giving him whatever he wants.

Hope he can get more in state recruiting locked down. IL, Michigan, and Ohio State have raided the top players from IN for decades.

Love hearing from Cig but like other commenters are pointing out Dan didn’t seem to prepare much for this one. Very bland questions
GO IU
This is what happens when you hire a winner.

Dan looked like a complete fool be prepared next time. Amateur shit.
Terrible DP!! No preparation!
Wouldnt be surprised if LSU, Florida State or Florida come calling
